This is a serious question and is not trolling. I just dont understand why the top notch PS3 exclusives dont shift huge numbers. These are all high qaulity titles and yet they just dont compare in sales.
If we look at arguably the 4 most hyped games (exclusive) of this gen so far with their 1st week (2 weeks for LBP) and LTD sales.
360
Halo 3 3.8m 9.1m
Gears 0.6m 5.8m
Gears2 1.9m 4.6m
Fable2 1.0m 2.5m
PS3
MGS4 1.7m 3.9m
Res2 0.23m 1.4m
LBP 0.31m 2.0m (where I feel it must be at now)
KZ2 0.80m(?) 3.5m ???? (my prediction)
Why is this? I can't explain it....
I do not belive that the install base is the issue here (Gears1 for instance launched with a 5m install base I believe) and even if it was factored in the numbers still dont compare.
Someone explain this to me (without resorting to fanboy nonsense from either side).....there is something different in the buying habits of the respective console owners?

Krafton and Tango Gameworks' rhythm-based action game, Hi-Fi Rush, has been rated for the Nintendo Switch.
NVIDIA will be discontinuing 16 GB variants of the RTX 5070 Ti and the RTX 5060 Ti, according to a new report.

Playing Sektori and its predecessor Trigonarium in parallel is a fun exercise in seeing a game evolve.
It's because out of the 20 mil PS3's sold, not all of them were bought to play games. Think about it. It's the cheapest Blu-Ray player (I'm told) so some of that 20 mil bought the PS3 to play movies and not MGS4 (crazy, i know). I think the 360's sales are better because it's bought primarily as a games machine even though it plays DVD's. But everyone already has a DVD player so that function is moot.
Gran Turismo 5 prologue sold 3 million
Motorstorm, Resistance sold > 3 million I believe
MGS4 is > 4 million I don't know where you got 3.9 million from
If you look at attach rate/time I think both consoles are pretty much the same... Look at game sales for e.g. Street Fighter 4, which is actually selling better on PS3 despite the lower install base.
MGS 4 sold 4.8 mill units.
Res2 sold 2.5 mill units.
and KZ2 sales are not even official.
oh and btw reported.
Why are sales low? Many Tech Savvy people buy the PS3 for BR alone. just because someone owns a PS3 doesn't mean they are a gamer.
Either way the companies are making money. 1 million x 60 bucks covers all expenses of the game. so any game that breaks that mark at least breaks even... Who really cares then eh?
i acctually like the fact that ps3 isnt selling more than 360, not in the sense that i like 360 better, but i like hopping on a match of CoD5 or whatever and its not jam packed full of ranty little kids (which is mainly why my 360 is hardly used nowadays), ps3 is more of a mature online expierence. so sells dont really affect me, as long as theres enough people to play with, does it really matter?
