My review on Turok

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is getting cheaper but Call of Duty is leaving day-one access. Here’s what we think the price drop means for Xbox, PC Game Pass, and the future of the service.

A 2D pixel-art Metroidvania developed by Mega Cat Studios with Santa Monica Studio oversight. Set during the Spartan Agoge, it follows a thirteen-year-old Kratos and his brother Deimos in a canon prequel written by the Ragnarok team. Carson's narration anchors a coming-of-age story about brotherhood and sacrifice. Combat starts simply but grows into a satisfying parry-and-combo system enhanced by the Gifts of Olympus. Bear McCreary's genre-bridging score is the standout. At £24.99/$29.99 with co-op roguelite mode included, the value is fair. Earns its place through narrative ambition rather than gameplay innovation.
Raccoin is a new meme roguelike that has us managing a coin pusher filled with some of the most bonkers currency we've ever come across.
Let me just say I too played Turok back in the day on N64 I believe it was, and I liked it, didn't love it.
But to me this was a game that was so easy to get right, that it is amazing that the developers messed this thing up. To me this game is Gears Of War On Crack, that's all they had to do.
That huge boss you fight in Gears on the PC version with the huge guns on his arms, that's all Turok had to be. Big dinosaurs the size of that monster in Gears that you fight. Period. Add Cool guns (huge Plasma Cannon) and Great story. Done.
What is Hard here? I remember when Acclaim was making the game. I wrote a very detail report of exactly how the game should be. Did they follow it, of Course not. Why they even asked, I have no idea.
Then Acclaim went Bankrupt and this company bought the rights to Turok. And made what looks to be a god awful piss in your pants version of what Turok should be. I didn't even download the demo because the game play just looks like something I wouldn't play for more then 2 seconds.
It just kills me that all they had to do was pick up the Unreal Game engine, follow the Gears Of War format, and add dinosaurs instead of aliens and you have a huge hit on your hands. What is hard here?
We just want to play something that's fun to play and looks Amazing. And Turok is neither.
Is it really this hard for gaming companies to understand Gaming.
