Ok you may have read the article that was posted here on N4G.com about does the Amazon confirmation e-mail mean a delay? ( http://bit.ly/13tk0dG) The answer is No!
I was really surprised to see this story actually have such a high degree rating, I guess people don't know so let me break it down for you.
The Amazon Date is an estimated delivery date, meaning if you look at the actual amazon email it says estimated.
The reason for this is because Sony has not actually released the date of the PS4 yet. -But the date is going to be revealed at Gamescom 2013- Sony has already stated that they will give the release date for When the PS4 will arrive to you at Gamescom 2013 which runs between Aug 21-25
Once the date has been confirmed Amazon will update the shipping info and send out the actual date in emails as well as update the site. This is not a delay - In fact in the email they sent out to me it states that they actually have the PS4 ( and they are just waiting to ship it). They actually already have it in the box just sitting in the warehouse. This is great news, it means Sony is ahead of it's manufacturing plan for the PS4. (As they are already making them and shipping them)
This confirms what Sony has stated before about there PS4 Manufacturing plan - They had a manufacturing target of trying to hit a million units a month. Not that surprising, when you think about how Apple launches a new iPhone, they make millions because demand will be high. And finally Sony can do this as well since they have some serious experience in making PS3 slims. (These same manufacturing plants will now start making PS4's)
And as we have seen before when Sony went from the fat PS3 to the Slim PS3, they were able to really put together a well designed system that was not only smaller and better designed, but also pulled less power while giving the same performance. This experience in design will now be a huge factor in the process of the PS4 as it is even slimmer then the PS3 slim and uses even lower power consumption.
Sony has done their homework and taken everything they have learned in making the PS3 manufacturing process better and applied that to making the PS4 - If they hit there target of 1 Million units a month which is unlikely as it is always hard to make that much of a new product, but if they get close we will have more then enough consoles available for launch. -By my estimates they will have made about 4 to 5 million units by Nov. ready for launch worldwide. (The expected date they will announce is Nov. 19th 2013)
-This date was leaked by the Assassin Creed IV developers by mistake in a video where they stated Blag Flag would be available Nov. 19 as a launch title for PS4.. -( they then back pedal and said well whenever PS4 releases, we will be available at launch) So I'm pretty sure the hush date is Nov.19th for North America
So all is going well and it looks like Sony is on track to hit there numbers, as you can see the Amazon.com launch bundles are now available again and these are Launch Day systems. So as long as you bought a launch system you will get yours on release day from amazon.
"Kalypso Media and Kite Games are today very proud and happy to announce that ‘Sudden Strike 5’ is now available for PC and consoles." - Kalypso Media and Kite Games.
"Indie developer, Strangely Named is excited to confirm that their latest title, OBLITACRATER, is out now on PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S, alongside its full 1.0 release on Steam." - Strangely Named.
"Arc System Works Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that the Steam port of ‘Puzzle Bobble Every Bubble!’ is available today!" - Arc System Works Co., Ltd.
Honestly, the fact that this became a story is a perfect example of the hysteria that builds around the turning of a console generation.
I know it was blatantly obvious but thanks for clearing it up for the people who may have been fooled.
I'm very curious to see the release date for PS4, it will certainly be as early as possible but I bet it's at least a week before X1 :P!
I wish it was October!!
