Opinion: Most Disappointing Exclusives This Generation (So Far)

The earlier blog I wrote up talked about the best console exclusives so far so I feel I should make another one based on most disappointing. Instead of 2 games a console though, I am only sticking to one because, as mentioned in the earlier blog, I have only played so many games and I have yet to get around to most; plus, I tend to try and stay away from games getting lukewarm reviews, at least at a $60 price tag. Anyways, here's my list and I know people will disagree. Feel free to and let me know what you think is your most disappointing this generation.

3DS
- Yoshi's New Island: I loved the first game on my SNES. I still play it to this day and just love everything about it(except the crying baby of course) so when a sequel was announced, I was stoked. The tacked on gyro controls bothered me because with handhelds, I just like to play while laying down and having to flail around my arms was annoying. I don't motion controls if they work(see Super Mario Galaxy) but when they are there just, it ruins the flow.

PlayStation Vita
- Uncharted: Golden Abyss: What? An Uncharted game being disappointing? How? Well, as I mentioned with Yoshi's New Island, the motion controls ruined the experience for me, plus the touch screen combat slowed the combat down. Was it a bad game? No, far from it, but it was disappointed when compared to the previous installments of the series. The inclusion of bounties also made the game grindy(I platinum 1-3 so went for this one too) but that's just a personal thing.

Wii U
-StarFox Zero: Maybe I just have a gripe with motion controls but it ruined my experience with this series as well. The cockpit view was interesting to see in a Star Fox game but it should not have been forced upon players. Just like with Uncharted Golden Abyss, it's far from a bad game, it just disappointed me how we waited over 10 years for a new StarFox only to have motion controls forced upon us.

Xbox One
- Ryse: Son of Rome: Immediately when I started playing, I glitched through a wall and had to reset my system. That left such a sour taste in my mouth as I continued the game. The campaign was short and the controls were hard to get used to. I hate QTE infested games and this had a lot of them. Multiplayer was pretty fun with a friend but the QTEs were impossible to avoid.

PlayStation 4
- The Order: 1886: This game is a graphical powerhouse, still one of the best looking games this generation. The gameplay though? Scarce. I was annoyed how short Ryse was after beating the entire campaign in around 6-7 hours so when I beat this game in less than 6, I was even more annoyed. The unskippable cutscenes labelled as chapters was really disappointing in my opinion(cutscenes should not be full-on chapters) and the QTE final boss ticked me off to no end(I really hate QTEs that are tacked on).

These games are, in my personal opinion, the most disappointing so far this generation. With more games on the rise, a new disappointment might take the crown.
By no means do I say this games are horrible or the worst; they were all just disappointing to me, that's all. If you have had the misfortune of playing a different game that was more disappointing, let me know so I can check them out one day myself. I have already heard a few(ex: Sonic Boom, Godzilla) but I haven't touched them yet nor do I honestly want to.

I would LOVE to see a Ryse sequel. The game has quite a bit of potential it just needs a really development cycle.

Yeah, it would be cool to see one. In my personal opinion, I think Ryse and The Order were "tech demos" showing off the power of the new systems given how short both games were. Sequels would honestly be welcomed by me and I know many others would agree.

Agree. And I would also love an 1886 sequel for the exact same reason. It could be because I love gaming, unlike many of the cynical journalists that currently plague the industry.

I did see this this come up as a rumor, but until stated otherwise I guess take it with a grain of salt.

If true I think it is clearly a bug. The whole point of having a primary account is that it automatically resyncs lice ses when connected to the Internet on that device. Having to make Sally log in every 30 days makes no sense.
