For once, we can blame the tardiness of this on coolbeans!

:D

coolbeans3515d ago (Edited 3515d ago )

lol

Ok, you have my curiosity. Did some blogs get through approval that shouldn't have or something? In any case, appreciate the nod and congrats to all other winners.

EDIT: I haven't received a notification atm.

Christopher3515d ago

It involved constant tying in blogs where I had to say "Okay, ignore these two, now vote". Then, there were a few more ties. But, most of them were on those "other two".

coolbeans3515d ago

Oh I see. I'll take the blame then! :P

Congrats guys,.. Some of these guys are really active and well deserved,.. Hope I get lucky someday

Overload3516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

Congratulations everyone. Now go buy No Man's Sky!!!!

Deadpooled3516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

Damn :( oh well, congrats to the winners, no way I was going to compete with some of the article submitters being incredibly active on the site and having far superior CRanks (although I had 10k points for the month I saw the top guys with over 100k!). Abriael's is 91 and mezzo's is 112!

-Foxtrot3516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

I know but you just need to hang on and see if you get lucky in the comment lottery. The submitting one is most likely a lost cause but the lottery is fair game, although I do wish they would put a cap on like "once you've submitted 100 comments this month THEN you'll be entered". It may seem harsh but there's been people who have won in the past despite hardly posting...would just increase the chances of winners being general N4G active users.

Christopher3516d ago

I think we have some general N4G active winners this month :(

-Foxtrot3516d ago

I wasn't really talking about this month I was just talking in general.

But if we are going to talk about this months then honestly, despite me being on here so much I think I've only ever saw ninsigma post the most out of the three.

In the past I've seen people win who post days apart, maybe 4-5 days or even the odd rare one who maybe have most a few times in that entire month, basically users who just log in to browse the pending news section.

Kiwi663515d ago

I'm on this site everyday but don't always post a comment as there may not be any article that i'm interested in so i don't see the point of making a comment just for the sake of it so am i not entitled to be drawn a winner in a random draw

-Foxtrot3515d ago

@Kiwi66

I wasn't trying to make it about this specific contest, my original comment about was just talking in general, I didn't say "you know that user right there...he doesn't deserve it". I was just saying we have had people like that in the past.

However there is so many articles I doubt you would be commenting just for the sake of it, I mean a user would have an entire month to do it.

All I was trying to respectfully say is maybe they should add a certain number of comments before someone, not you, can be in the lottery draw. It would weed out most inactive users and actually would push people a little to get involved more in the comments drawing in traffic. Even if someone said "Oh I've gotten a 100 comments, I'm entered" and did nothing else then fair enough.

That's all. Nothing bad on you or anyone else. It was just a small part of the original comment...not the point or focus of that said comment.

Christopher3515d ago

Here's the thing:

1. What you propose is harder to manage than just random and I've tried some different stuff, but it usually takes me 8+ hours just to do that. So, I prefer to keep it to a simple lottery. I've requested some tools that will help with this, but there are other important things being worked on right now.

2. I'd rather do a lottery contest than nothing at all when I can. I've tried my best to move away from it as I would rather reward active participation than anything else. But, every once in a while, a random lottery will pop up.

-Foxtrot3515d ago

" I've tried my best to move away from it as I would rather reward active participation than anything else"

What would you call active participation ideas then? If it's things similar to the contributing one then I don't think many people stand a chance. I mean I'm on the site a bit despite having two jobs, having a smart phone makes it easy BUT trying to submit articles on top of all that where certain members have already nailed that down. It's not giving everyone a chance if other ideas are like that.

No hate on that contributing people, you do a great job but not many of us are going to bother to try since you all seem to know the ins and outs of it, kind of like a "why bother if X, Y and Z will most likely win again". Although saying that I guess it's better then Filmwatch, it's even worse on their, with the users who win every month you don't even need to announce them.

I can understand it's hard to come up with new ideas but I think the lottery at the minute is the only thing which is the most fair. Even things like art competitions and the like focuses on peoples personal skills where people might have better skills then others you know. If you have an artist who draws an amazing picture and another who can't draw for s*** but both still try you know who's going to win.

I can't even think myself what other ideas you could do

The haiku one you did was decent. I like the prediction ones but without knowing what you can do as you've said you might not have the tools for it then I don't know what to request.

Yes, some...like me have high Cranks, but they don't mean anything as, a while back N4G put a limit of 50 posts on Submissions in place, so be it 50 or 500 Crank, you are only allowed to post 50 submissions per day.

Deadpooled3515d ago

50 is still a lot of submissions, I've only gone up from 5 to 10 after June so got a very long way to go :)

Never give up, trust your instincts.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon (PS5) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Thomas Froehlicher: "The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon is a very satisfying follow-up to a partially disappointing Trails Through Daybreak II. It has a much stronger narrative, dramatically improved combat, boasts great returning characters, delightful enhancements, and even more enjoyable side content in the form of Grim Garten. It’s worth every euro I paid - indeed, I'd pay twice the price for it, given the fantastic experience it provided. Given the dramatic cliffhanger at the end, I’m rather surprised to see that Falcom is going to spend two years remaking Trails in the Sky; I wager that many fans, me included, will be eager to see Van’s final episode."
