It probably doesn't matter if it's on PC or not. Hardcore PC gamers will never buy an XB1 one. Most of the target audience for the game is console players, who will buy the game on XB1 or buy a console for the game. However a person with a gaming PC already may have no need for an XB1.

Yeah I agree. Animations looked pretty stiff and I thought the level design of the demo was pretty odd at one point, when they went up to the big catapult thing and stood directly in the line of fire without any concern.

When they showed the Forza Horizon footage I thought it should have led the show instead, and I'm not even a huge fan of racing games.

Did anyone else get a Resistance vibe from it? The color pallet, the weaponry, the enemies, the pacing. Loved Resistance myself & Gears looks like it'll be fun, but that demo did feel kinda dated.

It means if you buy the game digitally you will get both versions for free. And they are supporting cross play between Windows 10 and Xbox One.

"Live" is a relative term when streaming. You could be minutes behind what's really happening so live commentary from another site likely won't be in sync

The guy was horrible, and the demo was a straight up God of War 3 ripoff...and yet even with years of dev time & an entirely new generation, it didn't look as cool as that Titan battle from GoW3 even though they were obviously aping it.

Well, I still like renting games so that is one reason for me. It's also cheaper than a graphics card on par with the Xbox One for PC, not to mention everything else you need for a PC.

The problem being Microsoft at least supported the Xbox One. There were more games shown at this E3 for Xbox One than Nintendo has ever released for the Wii U over the four years it existed.

if you think the base PS4 is going to be able to push VR beyond the launch you are mistaken. What do you think the Neo is for? Both of these companies understand that if they want the latest tech they need bleeding edge consoles. If you don't want VR, fine get the Xbox One S and games will play just fine. If you want to push the system to the limit, then get this machine.

? If it's more powerful than the PS4 Neo you'd be surprised at what people will buy. Seems like so many people this gen have been hung up on 1080p vs 900p so clearly graphics matter to them. If this thing can pump out better visuals at a more stable framerate then 3rd party games may look and play better on this Scorpio.

It's a little early to judge at what people will or won't buy.

I don't know where you are getting you info, but do you know Xbox One is selling better than the Xbox 360. Just a fun fact for you.

"People aren't buying the current X1" isn't it selling better than the 360? I think what they are doing is great. All the talk of graphics this generation and PS4 being the more powerful console, MS had to do something to change the landscape.

They said to get developers working on it, but really it's to get people talking. I think they hope people will buy more games on XBO and Win 10 and can't wait to play them on Scorpio. So, hype for Scorpio will increase software sales.

$300 UHD player is pretty appealing from the X1Slim, but with a Scorpio coming next year, it would be hard to justify trading for, or buying the slim. MS could theoretically pick up some customers with the fact they'll have the lowest price UHD player on the market though.....and to their benefit, the system is actually pretty good at integrating and controlling one's whole theater setup...although there are several options for that already in most 4K devices already.

It's a really powerful Xbox one. Plays the same games just a lot prettier. They pretty much laid it out.

Scorpio is MS's version of Neo. Price points for both are going to be very interesting... Also, will MS allow games to be made specifically for Scorpio or will they go the NEO route and say all games must run on both?

And/or an NX, depending on how good it is.

Both already showed their hands via leaks, they didn't need a conference to confirm or change anything.. this is such a silly misconception..

They implied that current X1's wouldn't be left behind which indicates forced compliance.

In reality, that'll probably be the case for the first couple of years, as they also stated that they are now just giving devs time to work on the system, so games that would truly take advantage of it will take a couple years at least from today, so early Scorpio titles will probably just be moderate upgrades. Eventually, they'll probably phase out forced OGX1 compliance, but may be 3-4 years after release, and many devs may still continue to support it.

Need to think of a way to differentiate the XB1S from The XB1 Scorpio for quick typing though. They both resolve to XB1S.

It was a solid showing, just not a lot of new stuff. I think people have pretty high expectations of an E3 conference, and while it's undeniable the games were mostly pretty interesting and would be appealing, and even hype generating, most of that hype has been going long before E3 came, so the presentation was a big underwhelming.

SoT had the worst game play reveal ever IMO, but the game looked like a lot of fun.

No real lulls in the conference, even for things that might typically be boring to many. Maybe Minecraft was the biggest lull, and the banter was so fake, it's kind of insulting.

I guess I was just expecting more big game announcements. Scorpio was a 50/50 chance kind of thing, neither surprised it was there, nor was I expecting it to not be there. Nice some info is out about it though. Will be interesting to see if Sony responds...particularly if Neo is slated for this year. Wouldn't be great to give MS months of attention for Scorpio, only to come out with a less powerful Neo IMO.

There was that one guy who wasn't getting all super excited sounding like a paid actor who actually delivered some pretty good lines. Sort of a droll cynicism of indifference....which is kind of how I talk. If I played with the rest of them, I'd probably have to mute everyone though...however I doubt they were talking like that during their entire time playing for the recording...but marketing requires picking the most "interesting" stuff to show.

Being able to buy used games, being able to sell your games, Gamefly/Redbox, actually getting retailer discounts are all reasons to get an Xbox One over playing it on PC. If you have to have the game Day 1 and it's something you plan on owning for years to come, the Win10+Windows Store version will be fine, but knowing MS (and Sony does this too), having a monopoly on their digital storefront guarantees we'll be seeing very few price drops or discounts while retailers will be selling a console hardcopy versions for $39 two months after release.

Still, better to wait and just get an "original" Xbox One when the price hits $199 from retailers making room for the Slim.

Pretty sure you have had a number of people repeatedly tell you this in other past articles but I guess the 1000th time is the charm.

Not everyone plays games on PC.

The point of a console is the easy to use, plug and play nature of it. For kids, young teens and others who don't want the hassle or time to build a PC to play games. For these particular people that is what the console is for.

For the person who was on the fence about purchasing an X1, you know, the one's who for three years since it's debut kept giving out excuses as to "maybe" they'll purchase one, now MS has provided an alternative for playing their games and becoming apart of the Xbox community. And that is by allowing their games on PC with cross platform gaming.

Now, I hope that clears up why anyone would buy an Xbox, but knowing you you'll be in another article asking the same thing.

I thought Scalebound had some of the best game play shown in their conference. The character himself just killed it for me. Same thing happened when I was playing through SSOD. Great game, but annoying AF to play. OTOH, it did have a giant enemy crab, so that's a plus.

We Happy Few is the new game I'll keep an eye on though. Love those kind of settings, although the characters were creepy as hell. But yeah, definately got a BioShock vibe out of it...although it appears to be more an adventure game.:)

This new more powerful console version paradigm is a test to see if consumers will adopt it. If they do, then every three years we will have the pleasure of companies constantly saying how they now have the most powerful consoles ever.

I agreed with you... up until you bashed Gwent. Gwent was amazing, and I probably spent a third of my time playing the Witcher 3 in Gwent matches.

Recore was the highlight for me.

FH3 looks great, but the onstage 'fake' play presentation annoyed me.

The gameplay they showed for Sea of Thieves really turned me off and the people didn't help at all.

The Scalebound gameplay pretty much confirmed my disinterest in the game. Pretty boring and the protagonist telling me what he's doing all the time? "Okay, I'm exiting this game so you won't say 'Okay, yadda yadda yadd' again"

Probably the most annoying thing was having that 'movie trailer' voiced "exclusive to xbox one and windows 10" before so much stuff. Once it was spoken twice within a minute...

They had the stuff expected, though. GoW4, Halo Wars 2, Zombie game. They showed Indies, but not too much time on them. No unnecessary and player-punishing "timed" exclusives. It was exclusives and then other games with maybe an exclusive beta or the like.

But, I liked that they showed a ton of games back-to-back. They got the Slim out of the way and it's not a bad thing. Scorpio is what it is right now, but... how much is that thing going to cost? It feels weird for them to create hype for it a year or more ahead of release when the price will truly be the deciding factor.

Edit: having said the above, I'm predicting it will still be better than Sony's tonight. And, at least no one has sucked as bad as EA yet.

I agree with most of what you say. It wasn't a bad showing of games, but nothing really new that was exciting.

GeOW: Looked good and decent enough, but the constant banter of the team mates was just annoying.

Scalebound: Went up on my list, and despite not being much into the whole "cool kid" persona, it did look like a lot of fun. Probably the best game I saw at the conference, but the constant talking of the character was annoying.

Recore: Looked good, but would have liked to see some actual game play and not a game play montage, but still interested in it, and still excited for it.

SoT: Dropped off my list entirely...wasn't really what I was hoping for as I'm not much into co-op. Maybe if there's a single player campaign. Looked like a lot of fun, but had some rather generic first person action, and the ship battles were about the only thing I found enjoyable. The presentation with the "gamers" was incredibly annoying. But I know some people are into co-op, and probably will love the game.

HW2: They showed some game play. Don't know much about that spin off and wasn't personally interested. Crowd seemed to like it.

We Happy Few: Got interested in that. I love those moody atmospheric dystopian type games.

CD3 absence was disappointing I'm sure to some, but suppose they're saving that for another conference.

FFXV: battle wasn't really all that impressive, and the guy playing was bad.

Minecraft: Really? We all know it exists. We know what it is. Why keep promoting it?

Gwent: Full fledged minigame. Yippee! Suppose it's good for those who want it, but seems strange to advertise it at a major E3 conference.

Scorpio was the biggest announcement, and it was kind of expected to maybe be there...50/50 chance by my reckoning. But I felt it kind of limited the excitement of the new slim, for whatever that's worth, and made it seem MS was more interested in the Windows 10 ecosystem than the Xbox itself. I don't mind the cross-plat stuff like that, but there always seems to be an asterix attached to everything, and I'm just not that trusting of MS when they make claims about how things will be, or what the console will do.

I really felt that the conference was just a listing of things they were doing. There didn't seem to be a big overall plan or direction outside of Xbox/Windows 10 being all you need to play MS games. This conference was more about pushing Windows 10, than the Xbox console itself, and think it made it seem the X1 is just another windows 10 device.

Conference probably would have been better if we didn't know almost about almost everything already. Was there even a new game reveal? Don't keep up on X1 as much as PS4, so wasn't sure how many of those things people already knew about.
