EA doesn't understand the term "used"...

So i am pretty sure most of you heard the new plan EA has to basically make a quick buck off used game sales. While some would agree that yes, the developer/publisher produced the finished product and that they deserve part of the sales, they also fail to realize that the product no longer belongs to EA. It belongs to the end-user now. If said end-user has finished the game, platinumed/collected all achievements etc, they can do whatever they want with the game now right? After all it is their product. So say, i don't know, they would like to sell the game to gamestop. Selling it to gamestop for gamestop's money would now make the owner of the product....wait for it....Gamestop! The end-user no longer wanted the game and sold it to them for cash, trad-in credit or whatever. Therefore Gamestop is now the rightful owner of that used product, they agreed to buy it from them, so its theirs. Why should EA collect money from them? They made their money from the original purchase. What if the original buyer gave the game as a gift to someone else, that person has to suffer because they did not buy the product? Why should they? Basically after that code is used, that game is no longer a full product. Don't get me wrong, i understand that you know, EA just lost a sale because the game was given up, but at the same time they are not because the original buyer no longer has the abolity to play that game, therefore its a balanced situation. I don't know about others but if this is not stopped, it may grow to a trend among publishers like DLC.

I haven't bought any EA games that use this code except ME2, and you can still play that game without the code, so it's not like it's broken or anything. I think your looking at it the wrong way, think of the code as an added bonus for buying the game new.

@baseballfan15

So if I were to rent the game in order to play against a friend who had bought it I shouldn't look at it as me having to pay extra money on a game I don't even own in order to play it online, I should be happy my friend is being rewarded?

I want to slap game publishers silly, they are the greediest people on the planet, no other company business in the world cries poor from used sales.

Eg. A car gets sold second hand, that isn't "one sale we were entitled to and didn't get money from". The fact is that a lot of people can't afford new cars, just as a lot of people can't afford new games, so removing the ability to get the full game out of a used game sale isn't going to make people whip out a magic money clip full of 100's, they simply won't buy the games, it is also a consumer choice, and their scheme will fail, it will either just make people sell their codes on ebay ( with the physical game ) or they will just pirate games and play them with the lesser content, there will ALWAYS be a free alternative as well, for everyone game that comes with paid online, there will be another with free online, and guess which one people will buy?, actually yeah you're right, people are sheep, they'll just lap it up and ask politely for another kick in the teeth... * skulks back into the shadows *

Buying the used copy of the game and the $10 online voucher is still quite a bit cheaper than buying a new game.
