*UPDATE*
Joe Montana Football will be shown part of the Unreal 4 presser. Also you can sign up for early access on www.Joemontana.com
Let's get this out of the way now. I'm a fanboy. A NFL 2k5 fanboy. I still play it to this day with updated rosters found with simple google searches. You copy that save file and paste it to your 360, PS3, XboxOG, and PS2 to keep it going.
Now, I'm not blind by Madden. I've still bought it every other year or so. Bought and played 07, 09, 10, 13, and 15 since the NFL EA merger. I also played All Pro Football 2k8 which sadly relied too heavily on it's online leagues that gamers weren't quite at that point in gaming yet in 2007. Sure now games are sold with online only and it's fine but in 2007 gamers just didn't get that yet. So for those who didn't take it online ended up with a shallow experience. It didn't have a franchise mode so it was one season and out.

website just went up!
The thing is, on the field, it played sim football a lot better than Madden. Madden's base engine is still the same one from 2000 in Madden 2001. EA has added things in Madden's engine and called it different things but they've never actually thrown it out and started from scratch. This is 2016 and we're still playing a game that was built in 2001. It's sad really. The player models still look weirdly proportioned, the animations are still robotic, and the game stutters from transition to transition breaking the entire experience. Sure it looks good in still frames but once the action starts moving it's just wrong. Warp tackles, magnetic interceptions, DB's jumping 12 ft in the air, WR sliding into their route positions, ...I could go on but plain and simple it's ugly.
Madden is not even fun to play online with people because those broken animations create nothing but exploits. So you think someone is going to punt on 4th and 13? Not in Madden 15. They call a play that glitches out your punt return Defense and get the first down or worse a touchdown. It's a deal breaker and I feel real bad for those folks who are dumping money into Madden Ultimate Team. You can't use your team you dumped all that cash on, offline. Seriously, I guess Madden players have money to burn because they are throwing it at this stupid broken mode.
Now E3 is coming and Joe Montana Football 16 is coming. This could finally be something that All Pro 2k8 wasn't able to be.
Rumors:
-Microsoft is publishing the game for cross play Windows 10/Xbox1/Windows Phone (manage your franchise from your phone while your console/PC is off and Fantasy Football)source: @DamonGrow on Twitter (Super Secret Sports Company.)
-Microsoft has it's own NFL License for entertainment apps exclusive to Xbox which was shown at XboxOne's Don Matrik production
-Microsoft went to 2k/Visual Concepts to work on the game. @Joe Montana on Twitter
-Microsoft is also working on a fantasy football app to work hand in hand with Joe Montana Football (you need at least the NFLPA license for that right?) @DamonGrow on Twitter
-Unreal engine 4. There was an image on twitter of Texan's reliant stadium that leaked. The image was of the Texan's stadium before Reliant stadium was revamped. The icons around the stadium are from the Unreal Engine. Reliant Stadium was redone in 2012. The Stadium shot is prior to that date. Which would make me think that this game has been in development for a few years. This isn't a quick smashed out product. Also the picture features Under Armor which is a partner with the NFL.
-EA NFL License is not exclusive. Multiple venues asked EA if their license is exclusive to EA and they would not comment. Last year's e3, an EA rep was asked what would they do if 2k came back with a new NFL game. He replied "Go invest in a license and make a game, come at me bro, anytime anywhere!"...something like that. Dude got in trouble basically opening the door saying EA doesn't have exclusive rights but the NFL is just really picky about who they license to. The video is on youtube just search EA calls out 2ksports to make a football game.
It's all speculation now but how can gamers not be excited about this? It's been over a decade since there was a competitive football game. Just imagine NBA 2k's my player on a football game! That alone has me stoked! Anyway I bit the bullet and bought the Xbox One last night basically for one game. Joe Montana Football 16 (Hopefully NFL2k16:featuring Joe Montana)
Here's hopes for something to truly be excited about at E3.
Now this is where it gets interesting: EA follows Microsoft at E3. What is EA going to do if Microsoft announces that it's football game will have the NFL License? Will they have some sort of plan to battle back? If it's more Madden Ultimate Team talk you can count me out. Is Microsoft willing to make the road a little bumpy for EA when they've been so tight this generation? And what about Sony? Because American Football doesn't sell as much as Fifa will they care? Could Sony step up and possibly have their own Football title like MLB the Show? What if the game isn't exclusive to Xbox? What if Sony has John Elway Football made by 2k published by Sony?
I'm getting carried away but this is a pivotal E3. One that really matters. We all know you'll get your yearly supply of Call of Duty, Halo, AssCreed, BattleField, and what not. This is something big. For the first time in nearly a decade I am excited for E3. I actually bought the Xbox One for one game. Joe Montana Football 16. I hope you guys are excited as I am for next week!

The difference between me and you is I am waiting until I know the details of the game to buy an xbox one for it. It needs to be announced before I let myself get excited.
apparently the nfl exclusivity deal is for third party publishers which ea holds the right to. that means first party studios (in this case the rumor is microsoft) can make an nfl game.
microsoft also had an nfl game on the xbox called nfl fever. it actually had some good stuff on it but it didn't play that real and failed to become a hit. i too loved the 2k franchise and loved the battle between them and ea. they battled it out with nhl and nba too. ea got serious with hockey and they forced 2k out of that sport. 2k did the same thing to them with nba. the point is we need competition.
the mlb series also needs a whole new entry. the show series on playstation is fantastic but it would still be nice to see other competition. maybe this is why microsoft feels compelled to go after the nfl game.
It must and I repeat must have a NFL license to have any kind of success
Hail Mary or Fake field goal all day baby. Used to score 300 points in the OG Genesis version.
Interesting it wasn't announced already
