Why all the Crysis 2 comparisons?

This is my first blog post. I doubt I will be writing many, I just wanted to get this out there. All week I have been seeing nothing on the top of the site except Crysis 2 articles regarding the graphics between the three versions. This is not news for fucks sake. You people need to stop clicking them, stop commenting on them, and grow the hell up. You think a minor difference in pixels will change the fact that the game is mediocre? Thats right, I think its mediocre. I've seen this game all too many times in the past few years, it is absolutely nothing unique or different. Crysis was a fantastic game with a huge open world to explore. You could handle any combat situation a number of different ways. Play around the jungle and watch things explode, just do whatever you want. They stripped down Crysis 2 to a room to room shooter and focused way too much on the multiplayer, which is terrible anyhow. I don't feel like going in to detail about everything as I have typed it too many times now, to many different people. All I will say is that the pop in is horrible, the bullet detection is way off, textures everywhere are very low like on plants, water, buildings etc.. Its definitely lacking in the graphics department. This has nothing to do with the PS3 and Xbox 360 being less powerful than a capable computer. It has everything to do with Crytek being lazy this time around and developing the game like cheap assholes. It could have performed much better, looked much better, and been a much better game all around if they had put the time and effort into it. Back to the topic question though, why on earth does everyone care so damn much about which version looks better? Am I really to believe that its because so many people on this site are really immature kids that want to try and defend there console of choice? Is that really the case here? That is just downright sad, and low. You may think "well this is nothing new, the media always does this when the PS3 version is inferior." True, they do, but never to this magnitude. RDR is another example of how bad things got with the media, and the difference in the two versions wasn't that much. With Crysis 2, its still nothing terrible, yet the world is exploding on the fact that there is a difference. After five years, don't people realize that it is not the console, it is the developer? Use common sense everyone, its obvious. I'm sympathetic for those who play only on a computer. They have gotten shoved aside this generation, and have gotten treated like they don't matter. Always getting crappy ports, less and less support for titles, its crazy. Anyhow, i'm done with this rant of mine, hope you enjoyed it. Leave some comments WITHOUT STARTING ARGUMENTS!! I beg of you, just please talk civilly.

The reason there are so many comparisons is that people have differing opinions on the game.

I for example disagree with your entire blog. Here's why.

1. I dont think it's mediocre, and it certainly isn't a room to room shooter.
2. The didn't focus too much on the multiplayer. How is a 12-15 hour campaign insufficient for you?
3. I don't think the mp is terrible, I love it
4. Graphics on console are better than most games.
5. Crytek aren't cheap or lazy, they clearly put a lot of effort in to everything they do

Fair enough, here is my response.
1. This point is an opinion, some will no doubt love it, some will hate it. It is also most definitely a room to room shooter, just bigger rooms so it doesn't feel so closed in. Its not a vast, open world.
2. They CERTAINLY put a lot of attention towards the multiplayer in this game. Every demo released is for multiplayer, all the videos by Crytek show off features of the multiplayer etc.. Length also does not matter, it could be a 50 hour game for all I care, it doesn't mean its better.
3. This is your opinion and I respect it, I just disagree with it is all.
4. This is definitely not opinion, the graphics are nothing special. Other multiplatform titles looks better than Crysis 2 like Assassin's Creed 2, Rage, Bad Company 2, and much more. I won't mention certain exclusives because they speak for themselves.
5. I think Crytek did a fantastic job with Far Cry and Crysis, but its as clear as day that they have dumbed down this game for the masses man. Just open your eyes a little and look at it. Its now another average shooter that has cloned Call of Duty in way too many aspects, and for that I have lost some respect for Crytek. They are talented enough to where they don't need to copy another game, but still make a game great. They just haven't this time. Its another me-to game, and I've seen it before.

I have to agree with BiggCMan with this. Crysis is one of the most groundbreaking technical achievement in history of gaming because it was able to produce the best graphics during it's time also having a lot of new effects and physics system being run in realtime on a vast open-world Island.

Crysis 2 is pretty much a stripped down Sandbox Shooter comapred to Crysis like Dragon Age 2 is a stripped down dark fantasy RPG compared to Dragon Age Origins.

I don't know if Crysis 2 should even be called a sandbox shooter because the levels aren't as big and it doesn't allow that much freedom of movement and choices compared to Crysis. I can find levels that are just as big or bigger in games like Bad Company 2 and Killzone 3 compared to Crysis 2 levels.

Crysis 2 suffered because it wasn't able to live up to its expectations on becoming the graphics king on all 3 consoles like Crytek are trying to say since it's announcement of being multiplatform. It's no doubt that the PC version looks stunning but the consoles doesn't give the game justice.

I can find a lot of similarities between Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2. Both were able to improve a few flaws from their predecessors but broke a lot of good things that made their past installments remembered.

I agree, but it's no use trying to convince people that put so much effort into finding minor differences between games in order to bring down a system. Either way, Crysis on consoles is definitely not going to make a graphical benchmark.

Well first of all crytek's comments started it then the contrast settings on one of the german websites were messed up so lens of truth came out and also had messed up contrast, a youtube video came out with the correct contrast settings but peeps still were not satisfied then gameblurb comes out with their own screenshots so people are now waiting for digital foundry.
