I am a loyal PS supporter. I have been gaming since 89. Not to go over my whole story, I will start from PS1 gen and later. From PS1 gen, I only had PS consoles AND a Dreamcast. Even last gen when media was trashing PS3; I wanted that console. I Didn't care about Nintendo or MS.
However I have to say Sony first party is not to my liking anymore; for now at least. I was a huge fan of GOD OF WAR franchise but I am done at this point. So GOW4 doesn't excite me to be honest. Uncharted franchise, same story. I LOVED PS3 games; have little interest in U4. Infamous, Ratchet same story. When it comes to new IP's. I am HUGE Third Person camera fan. The Order is everything I HATE about games. Pushing cinematic instead of great gameplay, just doesn't do it for me. I know this is subjective but again this is just how I feel. When it comes to Bloodborne; it is something I would like to play, but I wasn't the biggest Souls fan either. I KNOW there must be some new IP's that are coming, this is why I hope you read the whole thing, then you will understand from where I am coming from.
BEFORE I continue with Sony first party, let's quickly look over at MS court and why it is exciting to me.
Like I mentioned I am a huge Third person camera games fan and all MS franchises are NEW To me. GEARS OF WAR ALWAYS looked like my type of game, I love the savagery element of it and they are making a new one; with remaster on the way, sweet!
Quantum Break, again looks like my type of the game. Crackdown, Scalebound. I know I am forgetting something. Halo for it's gameplay (again gameplay is nr1 to me). Rare projects, new Fable, all very exciting. I DONT care about Forza and racing game just to make that clear. Oh, I almost forgot Sunset Overdrive! I want to play that. I am sure there are more games on the way.
You are probably wondering about multiplatform games? I don't care if X1 has slightly lesser versions, just like how I didn't care that PS3 did, or even PS2. So maybe this helps you to see why first party and exclusives are important to me.
Sony seems more focused at pushing big 3rd party games, which is SMART business move, I WOULD do it as well. However, as I gamer I always preferred Sony because of their First party. But now they seem to play it safe, with more sequels, and boring games that look nice. To prove a point at how much I was looking forward to The Order, I had Avatar with The Order logo for TWO years on my twitter account.
Anyways, in the fall I will be making a decision between PS4 or X1. For now I have been using my brother's PS4. But o boy does X1 FOR NOW look more appealing to me. I can imagine that they will go 249$ in December.
I know that Sony has new IP's in the work. That's why I am reserving my final judgment for after E3. I know about Horizon, sounds very exciting. I know there are more games, but somehow I don't trust them anymore. Too many delays, too quite about what first party studios are making and very few exclusives so far make me skeptical. Let's not forget Closed studios, cancelled IPs (SSM new Ip). The overall vibe is not the same anymore.
Unless Sony surprises me with their exclusive E3 material, I will 90% go with MS. I LOVE that MS will focus on first party this E3. Like I said, even if I never had Xbox console that press conference is a must see for me. Most anticipated.
So is any other Sony fan feeling like this ? What are your thoughts ? Please write intelligent comment, no console warrior bullshit. Convince, debate, I really want to hear what you guys think. BOTH sides.
Today, Square Enix revealed several details of "Evercold", the next expansion coming for its popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV.
Interesting. I will try the base game free trial when it comes out. I heard you can try the it as long as you want with Lvl 70 cap.

The Indie Live Expo Spring 2026 Showcase happened, and the Indie Spotlight segment of the event included plenty of reveals and world premieres.
E3 is the deciding factor for me. Even though I already have an X1 Microsoft has disappointed me a few times so far. If this E3 is as good as I expect, it will determine if I stick with consoles or dump them in favor of PC.
If you're brother has a Ps4, get the X1, you guys can share and have the best of both worlds.
I'm waiting to hear about Joe Montana football 16. Rumor is that it's x1 exclusive and has cross play features with windows 10. Also being published by Microsoft gives it a chance to have the NFL license. They have one now for "entertainment apps". Loophole if I ever seen one. Also Microsoft went to 2ksports to develop the game on unreal 4 engine. A lot of these rumors should be answered at E3. If it's true count me in as an Xbox one owner.
But, Gears 3 is still my favorite game. I feel like it's the most fun game available at this point so if something big like a new NFL game doesn't show at E3 I have plenty of 360 backlog to play through for the next few years. No hurry really. Shenmue 3, Kotor3, and Half-life 3 might get me to buy into the new generation...ps4 or Xbox one.
Everyone has their own opinion on the subject. I've had Nintendo, Sega, Sony and Microsoft systems in my time.
I'm 24, my older brother is about five years older. He also is very big into everything Sony. When he had his PS2, I had my xbox. When he got a PS3, I got my 360.
Now, times have certainly changed. I made the logical jump from xbox to xbox 360 because Xbox Live was damned revolutionary for a console based internet gaming service. It did everything right. I fell in love with online gaming through my xbox live subscription which, to this day, puts a smile on my face. I first played Mech Assault, and then picked up Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. Long story short, It remains the most fun I've had in an online game, and I wished to continue the tradition because all my gaming friends were making the jump to 360, and the whole transition was painless. Picked up Perfect Dark Zero and got a taste of what next gen was all about. it was the first time I had seen motion blur in a game. Not the best overall game to showcase a new system, but not a horrendous game by any strech of the imagination. Then I picked up Gears of War. That game was MY game. Sitting pretty along with Splinter Cell and Halo as some of the most fun I've had. Then something happened. My 360 Red ringed. three times. I was done. By the time I got everything up and running, friends were already leaving me. ( to be fair it was damned well near 6 months on and off from service) I was fed up. Sony was promising cool things. Uncharted became a hot topic.
I now own a the destiny bundle PS4, and I've been pretty happy with it. There is where things have changed. I usually choose PC for multi plats as long as the ports themselves are successful, and so I have no opinion about multiplats on ps4 right now. Yes, they do look better then Xbox, but I agree with you one hundred percent that the system lives and dies on first party content.
I played Braid and Limbo on XBLA and loved that microsoft was showing indies that they could develop on the platform with XNA and a reasonable licening proposition. But then I hear the horror stories of additional fees for software updates and so on. Then XNA as a development platform died. games like Flower and Flow from ThatGameCompany enticed me over to ps3. It showed that incredible variety of gaming experiences to be had with the platform, and the ambitious Playstation Network that improved exponentially with each update. Sony was activiely listening to its customers. Microsoft had a gold mine with xbox live, but shrugged off Sony's increasing competence of its online platform. Now, Everything I said about Xbox Live in the past simply cannot be contrasted with PSN.
Sony still has work to do. Both companies do. They both have visions of their systems.
Balega,
As you said you were getting into the franchises for the first time, what reservations did you have when the 360 was out that you no longer have now? What do you feel changed? What is it about third person games like Gears that you don't think you'll see on Sony's platform?
I say, If your big into online gaming, go where your friends go. If you prefere a primarily solitary experience, go with playstation. I want Microsoft to wow me at E3, Competition is good for us. Nothing is set in stone.
I get you.
At first, I got a PS4 last year simply 'cause I had a PS3, PS2 and PS1.
The wait for Solid exclusive titles was killing me. So, I sold it and got an XO.
I absolutely love Sunset Overdrive. It is my favorite game right now. Fantastic gameplay mechanics. Ori is another lovely game.
Above all, I prefer the XO controller over the dualshock4.
I feel like, the XO will be Microsoft best console ever. I'm enjoying it a lot more than I've enjoyed any playstation console I've owned.
And, the upcoming exclusives makes me even more excited than ever.
//I will get a PS4 too someday. Probably when the exclusive library has stacked up significantly.
I'm a huge Uncharted fan so I'm looking forward to Drake's next adventure. I like Bloodborne/Souls games but not enough to go out and get a PS4. Persona 5 looks good but I'm not really crazy about JRPGs.
on PS3, There were only a few memorable exclusives for me. Uncharted series, Heavenly Sword and Demons souls. The others I played were okay.
E3 is going to be very interesting.
