Upcoming current generation games I am excited about

2013 has provided some great gaming experiences. Games like Dead Space 3, Tomb Raider, Gears of War, God of War, Bioschock and Crysis 3 showcase there is still a lot of life left with the current gen systems. This year is off to a great start and there has not been any shortage of good gaming experiences.

As this year is already 4 months in and with next generation systems on the horizon. I wanted to put together a list of games that I am looking forward to on current gen systems.

Battlefield 4-is the sequel to Battlefied 3. The story follows American VIPs' evacuation from Shanghai and an American squad struggling to make their way back home. The recent trailer revealed a campaign mission called "Fishing in Baku," Baku being the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, which lies on the Caspian Sea's coast. From an under water escape to an all out shoot out in the city you can tell this game will pick up right from were the last left off. It is easily one of my most anticipated titles this year.

Batman Arkham Origins- The recently announced game is a prequel to the two hit games "Batman: Arkham Asylum" and "Batman: Arkam City." It takes place before the other titles and shows the early days of Batman during some of his first run-ins with several of Batman greatest foes. WB montreal has revealed that Batman will go up against eight villains from the comics, which includes Deathstroke and Black Mask. The game will be heavily influenced by the story of Batman Year One.

The Evil Within-Bethesda has announced the first game from the Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s studio Tango Gameworks. Little is known about this game and as it stands it is a survival horror title. Bethesda is known for excellent titles and If the trailer is anything to go by then this could shape up to be an excellent game in a genre that needs a stand out title.

The Last of Us- is an upcoming third-person survival/action video game from the developers of Uncharted. The game is centered around a modern fungal plague decimating mankind. The two survivors Joel and Ellie must work together to survive there westward journey across what remains of the United States.

State of Decay-A zombie game that concentrates more on survival, stealth, evasion, and base-building in an open-world environment. You'll work with a bunch of AI survivors to erect structures that will help you survive in a world overrun by the undead.

Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag- tells the story of a fierce Pirate Edward Kenway, a young man with a thirst for danger and adventure, who falls from privateering for the Royal Navy into piracy as the war between the major Empires comes to an end. Edward is a fierce pirate and seasoned fighter who soon finds himself embroiled in the ancient war between Assassins and Templars.

Watch Dogs- Is a game that is very in tune with what goes on in the present day. You play as Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker but also a former thug, whose criminal past lead to a violent family tragedy and you will be able to monitor and hack all who surround you while manipulating the city's systems to stop traffic lights, detonate gas lines, turn off the electrical grid and more. Easily one of my most anticipated games this year.

Splinter Cell Blacklist- The on going series takes place six months after 2008‘s Splinter Cell Conviction. The global threat is high and Rogue nations have pooled their resources to pose an ultimatum to the United States: withdraw all forces from deployment or suffer the consequences. This threat is backed by the blacklist, a file that contains classified intel on high profile targets and assets of the U.S.

Destiny- Bungie's first post-Halo project. A first-person shooter with elements of open-world sandbox and persistent world, Destiny is described as the world's first "shared-world shooter."

Metro Last Light-is the direct first person shooter sequel to Metro 2033. It is set in the year 2034 where a nuclear war has turned the world into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With mutants lurking the subway catacombs following a postapocalyptic disaster, humanity finds itself waging war against itself to gain control of a doomsday device that could end life forever.

Metal Gear Solid 5- will be more of an infiltration game, with characters who can interact. Hideo Kojima stated

I quote

"One thing I want to make clear is that Metal Gear Solid, will always be a stealth series. The core gameplay is feeling that excitement and tension that you feel as you sneak through a stage or environment and achieve your mission. That, to me, is the core of the series. And as far as the numbered titles in the series are concerned, they will always feature that type of gameplay."

Guns of Patriot was a fantastic game. I expect this game to be just as good.

Here is my list of some current generation games that I am most interested in. We all know many of these games will make there way to next generation systems. It is good to know that current gen systems will continue to have some excellent offerings. What are some of the games you are looking forward to this year and beyond on our current systems? Please feel free to comment.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit39d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing39d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9239d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
