BioShock Infinite Multiplayer Being Added?

Evidence suggest that BioShock Infinite was delayed to add a multiplayer mode. This evidence comes from recent job post details at 2K Studios.

Damn of course, that never even crossed my mind.
That could very well be the reason for the delay.

zeal0us5104d ago

Make me think about when ME3 was delayed. This is the future might as well get use to "everything needs multiplayer."

Amazingmrbrock5104d ago

Sure it guarantees 0-20% more sales.

Crazyglues5104d ago (Edited 5104d ago )

What I don't understand is how could you only now be adding Multi-player... should this have been a decision decided early in development... "Just Saying"

I just hope it turns out to be good, because at this point it looks like it's just going to be rushed and tacked on to maximize sales as opposed to a well thought-out Multi-player mode.

Thats one of the first reasons I thought of. Hopefully they add a co-op horde mode as well that would be alot of fun.

Bioshock 2 was not made by the same people as 1 and infinite. Kevin levine and his crew did not want to make another one in rapture. Heres hoping for a badass online component.

Online haters eat your heart out!!

I wouldn't buy Bioshock:Infinite then...I'm tired of all this every rpg/shooter needs to have online features crap..

-MD-5104d ago

Bioshock 2 had multiplayer.

Nostalgia5104d ago

And it was horrible and had unnecessary written all over it.

Human Analog5104d ago

Bioshock 2 was not made by the same people.

vickers5005103d ago

So even if it wont actually affect the quality of the campaign, (just a delay) you are not going to buy it?

user54670075104d ago

Why...I thought Ken knew how much the multiplayer sucked in Bioshock 2, unless it was someone else.

Well if not then he must know deep down it didn't make Bioshock 2 all that better.

I'm sure someone like Kev Levine would want to spend time polishing the single player game.

Ravenor5104d ago

Ken was quoted as saying they had an opportunity to add something "Extraordinary". Extraordinary doesn't sound like "We shoe horned MP in there!".

There is also always the option of avoiding the MP, it's what I did with Bioshock 2 and I'm pretty certain it didn't harm the SP portion any worse than the game itself.

Human Analog5104d ago

Ken and irrational had NOTHING to do with Bioshock 2

user54670075104d ago

and...

It's still Bioshock and the multiplayer wouldn't be any differen't despite who is in charge

I mean how else are you supposed to do the multiplayer, it will still look and play like Bioshock 2s

Anyway I'm talking about how Ken must of saw the reaction towards the multiplayer...I never said he was in charge of it

SeekDev5104d ago

Different developers make different things. So if Ken and his team made Bioshock 2's multiplayer, I'm sure it would be very different, whether for better or for worse. But probably for better.

Cablephish5104d ago

Personally, I would rather have just SP.

I enjoyed Bioshock 1 & 2, but the MP on 2 I found to lack balance.

Oh dear Lord...

*sighs - then pours himself stiff drink*

"And lastly, famous Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling helped to create the action-RPG’s setting. What’s really fascinating, though, is that the game was partially financed by taxpayers from Rhode Island (which allegedly lost the state millions of dollars). Yikes!"

1. Now infamous Schilling
2. No allegedly, it did. And they couldn't pay it back.
3. What really lost the money wasn't the SP release but the MMO they were working on. This was supposed to be an introduction into the MMO world.

Soy1009d ago

I hate counting limited editions for these lists. I mean, they're made to be rare and expensive. It's far more interesting to hear about the NCAAs (even if most people know that one already) and the El Chavos than some massive hit that came with a $200 statue at retail.

gamerz1009d ago

Me too. Here's the best I can do:

El Chavo Kart $90.14
NCAA Football 14 $87.72
Spiderman: Edge of Time $75.94
Spiderman Web of Shadows $75.09
Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions $67.76

Christopher1008d ago

Wow, El Chavo Kart is not at all what I expected by the name. 100% looks like a Sackboy Kart game.

Soy1008d ago

It's so odd that so many Spider-Man games are seemingly given lower print runs, even if they're not the best games.

jznrpg1009d ago (Edited 1009d ago )

Most Xbox games don’t hold as much value compared to other systems. Kameo, Blue Dragon, Last Remnant , and a handful or 2 of other games that I kept.

Fallout 3 and Bioshock Infinite are the rarest games of all time.

8 Best Games Set In A Multiverse

One of the biggest TV and movie tropes in the last decade has been the multiverse, the idea of exploring multiple dimensions to uncover alternate versions of existing ideas. From both a business and creative perspective, it makes sense why established franchises are shaking things up in this way.

However, there aren't many video games latching on to this trend, as rendering multiple worlds in real-time is a difficult feat and the medium is relatively young in comparison to its contemporaries, making crossover opportunities more difficult. Still, there are a few great titles that manage enough to overcome these challenges, and here are some of the best examples.

While I love someone mentioning Planescape, not really multiverse. Planes and dimensions, yes. But, they are typically their own locations and are very rarely tied to another 'verse' let alone another plane. The only things that are directly tied are the ethereal and material planes. Otherwise, they are dimensions created of their own design and goals by the creator/owner and not comprised of 'their own version of another dimension'.
