Gizmodo Banned From CES 2009?

In all of the coverage of CES 2008, none of it was
more...interesting..than tech blog Gizmodo, whose staff members decided to take a infrared device during the show to shut off flat screen TVs at exhibits and also to shut down monitors during a Motorola press conference.

CNet reports that the Consumer Electronics Association, the organizers of CES, have decided to ban at least one Gizmodo staffer from future CES events and is considering other actions against Gizmodo and its owner Gawker Media.

That website is run by idiots.

BrianC62346708d ago

What idiots. I hope the whole site is banned for a few years. I can't believe a site can be run by eight year olds though. One of them must have daddy run most of the site.

mikeslemonade6707d ago

He should be fired not banned. He was able to ruin an entire companies press conference, so who knows what he can do to his own company that he works for.

These companies spend time and money to put on their presentations. I understand you want to be a little kid and have some fun, but that is beyond.

Every company should sue them for every minute their screens were down and they shouldn't be allowed to come back until they pay it all back!

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman37d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
