Does everyone deserve a second chance? Find out which gaming comebacks worked out and which should have retired for good.
As Rambo prepares to return to the big screen after a twenty-year absence, videogames.yahoo.com looks back over video games series and companies that have tried to pull off similar comebacks. Which games vanished for years, only to return out of nowhere? Which companies tried to cash in on fondly remembered franchises and failed? And which much-loved character could be set for a ten-year-overdue comeback of his own?

The fourth game in the ‘BioShock’ series has been in development for more than a decade
Bioshock is one of my favourites franchises. I love all 3 games and have played each several times. I even have a room in my house that is loosely decorated around the theme of Bioshock (with a Lighthouse, coral models and postcards styled as though they are from both Rapture and Columbus).
And yet I am going to find it extremely difficult to get even remotely excited about any future episode in the series after all the problems this has had in its development cycle.
Leave the franchise alone. Remaster them again if you have to. Then put whatever talent you have to use on something brand new.
It sucks this game is in development hell because I love BioShock and would love a 4th game. I hope it turns out great, but I guess we'll see.
It's been in development hell since 2014. This is nothing new. It saddens me because it's one of my favorite series. At this point, Judas may end up releasing first.
Bioshock 4 (if it ever comes out) will probably still look and play like a Bioshock game, but without Kevin, it might miss that spark that made the originals so special. Honestly, Judas might end up feeling more like the real spiritual successor.

GOG appears to be teasing potential re-releases of Konami's survival horror game, Silent Hill, and Xbox Game Studios' Halo: Combat Evolved.
It's crazy to think that GOG will have Silent Hill 1/2/4, Dino Crisis 2, and Resident Evil 2/3 before the PSN. What the actual fudge is Sony even doing over there?
I will probably pick up Silent Hill 1 right away if GOG gets it, I grabbed BOF4 as soon as it was released, haven't picked up Dino Crisis yet since I already bought it on PS.

Xbox Game Studios' Halo: Combat Evolved Remake is reportedly planned to release in late 2026 to celebrate 25 years of Xbox.
They coulda started with Halo 3 remake ... I know Halo CE remaster was not proper with the art style but still, remaking after a remaster seems dull, when Halo 3 and Reach have started to show some age.
True
I wouldn't put Duke Nukem Forever in comebacks list since the game isn't out yet till now if ever.
Personally, I consider Tomb Raider: Legend and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance the best comebacks ever. The worst? Sonic the Hedgehog for PS3/360 and Soldier of Fortune Payback for all.
Duke Nukem looks so crap. The model for Duke looked mega sh1te. I can't believe so many people are looking forward to that game, it's gonna suck. Hard.
Metroid is the real series to suffer. I've never liked a Metroid game since Super Metroid on the Super NES. Big surprise: leave it to a western developer to ruin a great Japanese platform series by making it a bloody FPS. I tried Metroid Prime on the GameCube, and I never played it again.
Lots of people ragged Doom 3 but I really enjoyed it, flaws and all. No, it wasn't a "great" game in the classic sense, but it's one of those games you kept playing just to see the next new area and the next new monster.
It's still one of the most detailed action games around.
