No more getting a message saying: "hey, u wanna..." only for you to not care, and continue finishing the game you're playing. Later, you quit the game, and see what the message was. It says; "hey, u wanna play a game of warhawk", and you realised you promised your mate a game of Warhawk earlier, but it's too late now, he's offline.

So, you learned your lesson, and while playing a game, you get another message, saying "hey, u wanna..." so you quit the game, because you don't want to disappoint your friend like last time.
You then read the message, and it says "hey, u wanna game of tekken online?" with Tekken being a game you don't have.

Incredibly annoyed, realising you frogot to save your game, you throw the Sixaxis through the screen of your Bravia, and look up to the heavens, screaming dramatically:

"I WANT IN-GAME MESSAGING SONY!!!"

Home is Sony's "excuse" for not releasing In-game XMB, but I do really hope they release it before Home.

Home is amazing and my bets are on Sony for online gaming. At least in-game xmb will be free.

I've been so pissed about not having in-game xmb and having home delayed that I was thinking about getting the 360. Another thing. Why the heck does Mx vs. ATV not have voice chat for the ps3? The Xbox 360 has it.

The ps3 devs say that the ps3 is true next gen, then why do they always leave out the most basic and arguably the most important stuff to their games?

I would have bought a 360 already, but, they got the new ultimate coming out this year, and playing games that run better on the 360 seems like the only anctedote for my multi platform experiance. But I feel like I shouldnt have to go that far.

I know that Sony is making these products for us, but I doubt they will be anytime soon. Ive had my playstation for over a year now, and waiting 2 or 3 more months for Home or in game xmb is way to long for me, I dont care how cool it is.

I paid way to much money ($600 for only 60 gigs) to get ripped off and not get what more people have. Yeah I guess I could use the phone to call my friends, but have you ever tried to talk on the phone while playing a game and having another mic in your ear? It's shoulndt be like this.

If sony doesnt come out with something cool for the psn next month Im gonna flip out. I'll probably end up getting an xbox cause its my bday and I want something other than a let down. I have the Wii too, so that would just make me one true happy gamer. Honestly though,, If sony came out with in game xmb or home next month, I would be even more happy, and wouldnt need to feel to compensate myself with a 360.

Eddie, you should get an xbox 360 anyway. It's the only way you'll be able to enjoy All the great games out there, not just Sony's great games.
Live is better when it comes to in-game messaging, invites and such, but don't lose hope that sony's not going to offer you the same thing, if what they've been promising comes true, hopefully in the next few months, then we're in for a treat.

Sony won't be outdone. Playstation Home is gonna be awesome. Let;s be honest. Both consoles are so good. I hjope eveyone can get them both and everyone on N4G nad just all be gaming firends and we will have this HUGE N4G clan on PS3 and 360... Own noobs in Killzone 2, Resistance 2 and Socom lol... 2008 really is gonna be suck a good year for PS3 and the PSN.

Now that Jim Ryan is gone just need to remove Herman Hulst from his position! And maybe give Shuhei the position he deserved.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
