Heard the Beta was disappointing?? Anyone confirm or deny?

LiViNgLeGaCY5131d ago (Edited 5131d ago )

I played the beta. Absolutely loved it. Only thing I didn't like was there wasn't a party system that allowed you to group with your friends. Otherwise a very fun, very addictive, very balanced game.

best game i played in 10 years.

Regent_of_the_Mask5131d ago

That's probably cause you haven't actually played any games in 10 years.

Personally, and this is just me, I thought it was pretty disappointing, and I LOVED Warhawk.

It's hard to specifically describe why I was disappointed by it though. The controls are good, the graphics are fine, although I personally think Warhawk looks better. To me, although the textures, character models and animations of Warhawk are slightly inferior to Starhawk, Warhawk is brighter and has better visibility, in my opinion anyways. Also, again, this is just my opinion so please people, do not get angry, but the objectives and the location of the objectives never seem to be clear enough.

When I played the beta, it didn't seem like anyone knew what to do, they just stayed back at the base playing team death match mostly, with most people not even going for the objective.

But all this is in comparison to Warhawk, which I loved. Compared to other games like Call of Duty, it beats the crap out of games like that.

I still might get Starhawk day one though, just because I loved Warhawk so much and want to support lightbox, and I think if I play more and learn the maps more, it might be a better experience. Also hopefully playing on a team that knows what to do would help a lot more as well.

Very valid concerns/gripes.

Starhawk is a bit darker and grittier, but I think it's meant to be like that.

There were indeed a few matches I played doing CTF where my teammates didn't seem to care about going after the flag, or even building any sort of defense for our base! I myself prefer to be more aggresive and go after the flag.

If you do end up getting it day one, you should add me! :) xHawKx

Thats how i was at first. I know having split-screen will fix a lot of the issues for me though. Oh and custom music XD

Still love Warhawk to this day.
My main gripes with StarHawk now is that there are no maps as small as the ones we had in Warhawk.

I think the graphics will be improved in the final version and there are 10 unique levels so that should add a bit of variety over the 3 we had in the beta.

I can tell you my nephew(6 years old ) hated it because it was too hard but after seeing me play it he picked it up and played for a few rounds and asked me go get it for his birthday. every few days since the beta finished he ask me if starhawk is out.be on the lookout for raulm2b2 he'll knife you in the back. Lol .

Next week we'll take the rift and kill the enemy.

BitbyDeath5130d ago

I didn't like it at first cause i kept comparing it to Warhawk but it eventually grew on me.

The updates they put in no doubt helped as well.

I've seen the beta but I never got to play it, what I did see I liked very much. I'm looking forward to playing it myself as it shows so much promise and the feedback from the beta was good.

Not a single Reistance? Fuck this article.

Starhawk over Warhawk?...... Dude, NO ONE should listen to you.

Odd choices for "best" more like you settled as these being the "best" that available to you at the time, cause a lot of these blow or were average to poor performers that ended up in bargain bin.

Missing too many great sci-fi titles here. The Void, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2 and 3, Enslaved, man.. there were so many, this is redicu-list.

FreeckyCake766d ago

Nobody should listen to you either with that attitude.

I agree that Starhawk shouldn't be above Warhawk, however I must say that Starhawk multiplayer was incredible for its time! Many people wrote it off bc the single player was quite terrible, bc it was basically 1 huge tutorial for the multiplayer. But I can tell you never spent any significant amount of time in MP. It was doing incredibly tense base building w air, foot and land vehicle (and mech!) combat long before Fortnite was ever a thing.

I bet it would have been much better received if it had just ditched the story mode all together. So many people like yourself completely wrote it off based on reviews by reviewers that let the criticism of single player weigh heavily on their scores. I bet you didn't even play it.

The riddick games are some of the best stealth titles ever, highly underrated

YourMommySpoils766d ago

What games? All recall plating was Escape from Butcher Bay.

Friendlygamer766d ago (Edited 766d ago )

There's also the less acclaimed 'assault on dark Athena'

( also, not saying this to you specifically but there's both resistance and killzone games on the list, it's amazing how even something so simple and innocent as a game list can be turned into misinformed vitriol here lol )

jznrpg766d ago

Glad to see Resonance of Fate. Enslaved was pretty good too. I’m sure there are others nobody has listed but I’m too tired to try and think of anything

Roundtable: Dead Game Franchises We Miss

With every big game now belonging to a big intellectual property, there are those that have become redundant. Here are the series' we miss.

RPGer1843d ago

I miss Dark Cloud I mean damn, Dark Cloud 2 is one of the best Action RPG game ever made. The game have: Rich Worlds, different setting, tons of contents, vareity in gameplay like never before (and even after), best buliding mechanics, crafting system like no one did and finally impressive graphics.

Most underrated game ever. It deserved the popularity and sales of Zelda and Final Fantasy. ut unfortunately, Level-5 and Sony didn't advertise it at all.

titans99991843d ago

My franchises I wish would make a come back, are Battlefront by pandemic studios - galactic conquest was the best, mercenaries 1 and 2, and prototype 1 and 2...great games!

Pure Reminiscing: Starhawk

Pure PlayStation: Pure Reminiscing is a brand new feature from our very own Kyle Durant. It’s… different. Think of it like a mini-novel full of Kyle’s most weird and wonderful musings about games of yesteryear. If nothing else, at least it’s long enough to give you something to do on your journey to work in the morning….
