Max Payne and Other Classics Set to Drop on PSN

With Max Payne 3 only weeks away, it comes as little surprise that the first Max Payne will hit Playstation Network with the next update. Released for the Playstation 2 in 2001, Max Payne is one of the most dynamic games in its library, and has enjoyed critical and commercial success. This was due in part mostly to the games story that was heavy on noir elements, and the bullet-time gameplay. Throughout all the shooting and mayhem in the game, somehow Max never stopped smirking, and remained impeccably dressed.

Dammit
I just got mp on iPhone, I wouldn't have bothered if I knew it was coming to ps3 :(

ABizzel15149d ago (Edited 5149d ago )

Sony needs to bring as many PS2 games to PSN as possible, and make them all playable on PS3 and Vita. I know for a fact there are at least 10 - 20 PS2 games I would buy just to have again.

EliteDave935149d ago

YES! Now R* just make GTA Vice city and San andreas on PSN aswell!

AusRogo5149d ago (Edited 5149d ago )

It would be great if they did hd remasters for mp 1 and 2.. I know thats asking for alot, but it would be awesome. Just like red faction 1 and 2 would be if they were hd remastered

I hope it will deliver.. we deserve a good Max Payne remake

HansyJ560d ago

We deserve nothing, but the legacy of Max pain deserves it

Cacabunga560d ago

Max Payne fans deserve a good remake. Maybe that is more clear

The_Blue560d ago

' but the legacy of Max pain deserves it"
The Max Payne legacy deserves it.

SoloZelot90560d ago

Okay...so something digital deserves it but something real doesn't?

DarXyde560d ago

I'm not much of a Remedy gamer beyond Alan Wake, but I can't say I've ever heard anyone complain about the quality of the product, whether we like the game or not.

CrimsonWing69560d ago

Um, I’d think that should go without saying… but glad they’re committed to making the quality excellent as opposed to, uh, not.

Gamingsince1981560d ago

Yeah it's kinda weird for them to say that and redundant.

DodoDojo560d ago

Its because they know that they lost trust with the GTA trilogy.

CrimsonWing69560d ago (Edited 560d ago )

I don’t think Remedy had anything to do with that. I get you’re referring to a publisher, but you wouldn’t think a developer would be reassuring people about their game when a different developer made a game that dropped the ball that’s under the same publishing umbrella.

Like, why would From Soft have to assure us that they’re game will be be striving for excellence if Namco Bandai is publishing and they’re referring to something like Unknown 9: Awakening?

This is just a weird statement no matter how you spin it, but also good to know.

jambola560d ago

oh.......thanks
"update, won't suck we hope" lol

VersusDMC560d ago

Well rockstar is paying the bills so they have to project confidence so it isn't cancelled.

What I'm wondering is who is going to voice Max since the og actor died or they are using the old VO like MGS3Remake.

Profchaos560d ago

Rockstar has always had a great relationship with remedy this isn't some new fly by night partnership they have worked together for 20 plus years now

VersusDMC560d ago

Max payne 2 was the last time they worked with rockstar in 2003. And it bombed.

Rockstar asked remedy to check out Max Payne 3 for notes but were not really involved.

So having worked on a project 20 years ago doesn't mean they have been working together for 20 plus years.

swedishMeatwad560d ago

Wow, breaking news! Developer aiming for excellent quality!

SoloZelot90560d ago

Considering some new releases that's good to hear. It is better than aiming for diversity and inclusion.

Demetrius577d ago (Edited 577d ago )

Playing max payne 2 on ps2 for the first time, lol this series definitely needs a remake. The gameplay is rough😅 still a good game tho I hope they keep that gritty feel to it.

RaidenBlack577d ago

My most anticipated remake(s)

Cant wait to see how this turns out. Max payne with Control's level of physics and destruction would be amazing. AND IT BETTER HAVE A PHYSICAL RELEASE
