It will be a little weird having a main format that does not have initials like VHS, DVD, HDDVD, CD, MP3, ect. It will be a nice change of pace.

i only have a 720p tv. will bluray still look really good on there or it wont have an effect?

is universal getting ready to go blu-ray?, more like when is universal ready to go and stay blu?

and if universal stays red than that would be the most stupidest thing since paramount went hd-dvd.

The walmart in my town are pushing BluRay hard already there is a 4 sided kiosk with a Sony tv on the front with a Bluray Demo disc playing and it is the first thing you see when you walk in the electronics section, 3 out of the 4 sides are dedicated to Bluray the other has HDDVD playing transformers.

I think the HD DVD camp know they lost, but Toshiba is sticking there because they want some cash from the Blue Ray coalition to give it up completely.

Im feeling depressed from seeing all this Blu.

i want transformers.... when its blu its mine...

The buyer wants Blu! Just read the comments on here and all ove the site! HD DVD fans are outnumbered by around 10 to 1.

i also have a 720p set, and my roommate has a 1080p set.

his set is 46", mine is 40"

i think, due to the set size, our TVs look identical; my TV is smaller, so the lack in pixels on a 720p 40" compared to a 46" 1080p set is barely noticeable. what i do notice, is that when my roommate is watching a 720p video, or a 720p game on his 1080p set, it doesn't look as sharp as on my set. not *BAD (it still looks *GREAT), but sometimes it appears to have jaggies, when on my set it looks smooth. 1080p games, however, look awesome on his set (then again, they look awesome on mine too; ie, Gran Turismo Prologue).

i've found Blu Ray movies to look *GREAT on my TV. you should be good to go.
