This is a sad and tradgic time for the state of gaming. May we bow our heads and pray for a quick and safe recovery for the godfather of gaming aka Nintendo.

Though Nintendo has posted its 1st loss ever, the elite Nintendo gamers of the world will all work together to support Nintendo through this horrid time and make this the official last loss ever for the house of Nintendo.

With the Nintendo 3DS entertainment system already breaking records worldwide, and with Nintendo hardware and software leading dominantly in Japan. It is safe to assume that Nintendo will be back to raking in cash flow in no time at all.

Exclusive AAA quality releases will turn the tides here. And Nintendo has a gameshark cheat amount of quality content safely placed in its back catalog. And new IPs just over the hill being prepared for the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U entertainment system.

have a blessed day and happy gaming.

and even their first lost is 550 million us dollars compared to the billions sony and ms lost this gen.

its rough times for japanese companies overall and i hope they get through it quickly.

lelo2play5146d ago (Edited 5146d ago )

"and even their first lost is 550 million us dollars compared to the billions sony and ms lost this gen. "

Hummm... Microsoft?

After the debacle of the X360 RROD a few years back, Xbox division has been profitable for MS ever since, if I'm not mistaken.

I hope that Japanese gaming companies bounce back soon.

raymantalk15146d ago (Edited 5146d ago )

@lelo2play

if you think MS are not losing money then you are living in a fantasy world, back in 2005 the xbox was losing $76 per unit on the arcade alone and $126 per unit on the HDD versions, also they were worth $500 billion in 2000 but they are now only worth around $260 billion now, and that is a hell of a loss especially considering they did not have no tsunami or earthquakes to affect them or nuclear accidents

also the majority of the money they do make is from windows and office also how can they be making so much profits when they are spending billions in advertising which eats into there profits.

and even though Nintendo has posted a smaller loss is not a small loss to them as they are a much smaller company compared to MS or Sony

and sony losses are mainly due to poor tv sales devision because of the high end tv market they aim for plus they invest in allot of different types of investments that most people dont even know about and of course a bad investment is just that a bad investment.

Console companies are dying.

Nintendo is making losses now.

Sony back in 2000 was worth 200billion usd, now is worth 20 billion usd.

MS well they arent doing to good either.

CONSOLE GAMING IS DYING.

Remember you heard it here first.

@raymantalk1

Ah yea overall console makers are going out of business, But yea as a company i would rather be worth 250billion usd rather than 20billion USD.

Its far easier to turn around a company at 250Billion usd than a company at 20billion USD. Smaller companies generally have smaller chances of surviving. I wouldnt be surprised if Sony left the gaming business all together if this carries on, there is only so much the shareholders will be willing to bleed.

Personally i couldnt be happier if all of them went out of business lol. The industry would start progressing again :) by the way its looking the day might not be too far when Sony and Nintendo atleast go out of business. Later lets hope Apple can get rid of MS and we will be all good.

Edit: Recession, which is why people are willing to buy 500usd Cell phones from Apple? Recession is just an excuse by the media to get the public to spend less, so that things drop in prices, which causes the big dogs around the world to invest. Well thats another story. There really isnt a recession its just a fear created in the minds of people.

raymantalk15146d ago

@T900

you are right sony did lose that but it is still allot less than $250 billion that MS lost.

also i dont agree that gaming is dying we are in a recession we will be out of it soon and the profits will come to all gaming companies that are any good but of course they will still say they losing money regardless i wish i could lose money like they do and travel round in Ferrari and live in expensive houses ect ect ect

You speak as if nintendo is your god lol

LOL_WUT5146d ago

I know right? I mean really bow our heads? Thats just silly

Lucretia5146d ago

Lol Kaos, You suck, you act like nintendo is your mother....heck you probably hold nintendo over your mother and cry that your mother was never as good as nintendo even though she raised you alone and paid for your college.

Nothing about nintendo losing money is tragic. The wii fad is finally dead (nintendo predicted its demise thats why they started working on an actual HD console so it launched 5 years after wii)

3ds had no games last year so ofcourse it did bad, this year is picking up very well with games though.

stop adoring nintendo lol, im starting to think you love the company more than miyamoto

ronin4life5146d ago

Kaos is just a character, dude. ^_^;
Like darksniper: it is an act making fun of n4g itself.(and fanboyism overall.)
At least, that is what I've gathered from their multiple comments. ^.^;

mike1up5146d ago

This is a rarity, a Troll crying Fanboy.

How lame!

BitbyDeath5145d ago (Edited 5145d ago )

"Kaos is just a character, dude. ^_^;
Like darksniper"

Pretty sure they are controlled by the same person.

Patriots_Pride5146d ago

B4 the OMG Nintendo is dead crew start to comment.

What is considerd a lost to Nintendo is actually a gain to MS and Sony.

Shok5146d ago (Edited 5146d ago )

45 billion YEN is not as much as it seems. Its not US dollars, its yen.

Also these costs are mostly due to R&D and manufacturing costs.

Titanz5146d ago

Pretty much. Nintendo doesn't owe creditors money, whereas... nvm.

Either way, it won't be Nintendo going down as a company whenever bill collectors come to collect on the company's debt.

torchic5146d ago

how do you know it's mostly down to R&D? analysts are blaming very slow Wii sales for the loss. hence the introduction of the Wii U

OC_MurphysLaw5146d ago

@Shok...gotta disagree on trying to put this off as R&D costs. Nintendo has made many gaming systems over the years and NEVER reported an operating loss even during their R&D phases with past systems. If this is the first "loss" it is a very big deal... it shows Nintendo has made a pretty significant error in their strategic planning. Most notably how they approached the Wii and its later year support (read complete lack of). Clearly they thought the 3DS would carry them over while they waited for the WiiU...but as we know the 3DS had its own issues...and having to price cut so early threw a huge wrench in the plan.

PopRocks3595146d ago

@Dlacy13g

Yeah, but in previous years Japan wasn't exactly dealing with a wonky up-and-down economy while their primary currency was weakening, now were they?

OC_MurphysLaw5146d ago

@PopRocks359... Sure, I fully agree its a tougher economy in Japan and that most certainly led to the down year as well. Does that make them reporting a loss any different though? Bad news is bad news if you ask me.

Darth Stewie5146d ago

Most Japanese companies are reporting a loss because that Tsunami just hit the entire country hard. Anyway I hope companies like Nintendo and Sony can bounce back because competition in the gaming industry equals a win for gamers.

T9005146d ago

Why not just hope all 3 of them go out of business, so this industry can start progresssing again. Its been on a halt since the last 6 years.

Lucretia5146d ago

T900, why dont you just stop playing consoles and go revolutionize gaming yourself. oh thats right, your lazy, un motivated cry baby.

if your bored enough just boot up your old snes and play old school games, no one cares what you feel.

BrutallyBlunt5146d ago

Perhaps his reference is PC gaming, a platform that is much more rich in innovation and evolution. A platform where it's not controlled by one single entity that calls the shots on pricing on the software. A platform that doesn't have closed walls which limits growth.

As for Nintendo they need to re-evaluate their market. The Wii changed the landscape for Nintendo and now it seems to want to recapture the hardcore demographics by finally wanting to work with 3rd party publishers. They still hold the handheld market but that market has also changed. That's why Vita is having a tougher go at it and why Nintendo had to cut the price of the 3DS early on. More importantly the value of the Yen is what cripples them at the moment. Nintendo needs to not centre itself as a Japanese company when most of their sales come from off-shore. Both Sony and Nintendo make most of their decisions from a Japanese point of view, this needs to change. We are now all connected and the Japanese need to adapt.

lionelglitchy5146d ago

so nintendo like every other company in the world have just gone through a 4 year recession and they are only this year running a loss.a new hand held just out breaking sales records,and a new console on the way seems like a well run business to me,why all the doom and gloom about nintendo these days i don't get it

Lucretia5146d ago

i dont agree with doom and gloom for nintendo, but the wii-u is nothing special until it releases games in 2 years. seeing the track record for the 3ds and how it took a year to have even 1 good game that was exclusive to the 3ds, and how most devs dont even have dev kits for the wii-u im not sure how there will be any games for the wii-u in 6 months when it launches

mike1up5146d ago (Edited 5146d ago )

Lmao

Since we are just grabbing numbers out of the air... why not 3 years? Or how about 4 years?

Oh another thing, how exactly did you figure out how many devs have WiiU dev kits? Are you like the WiiU detective/psychic now?

Spare us the Troll predictions please.

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

jznrpg36d ago

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree36d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai36d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.
