Top 10 Most Disappointing Sequels

Sequels are the game that tend to make the most money in this industry, so it is pretty much expected that every big game will get one or more sequels. It can be great when a sequel turns out as good or better than the original, but it can be devastating when it doesn't. These 10 games didn't to live up to the quality of their predecessors, and failed to meet fans' high expectations.

Fable 2 final boss battle was pretty sh*tty.

PD:Zero, my cousin who was a fan of the series turn it back in the same day he purchase it. I played for a few hours and hated it.

Bioshock2 was good game but it didn't seem to live up to Bioshock1. I know 2 was developed by a different studio.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) didn't live up to Sonic Adventures 1 nor 2. The whole storyline seem stale, long loading screens. I beat and end up giving it to my cousin because I knew I wasn't going to replay it again. It was the beginning of a bunch of crappy sonic games. Okay maybe Sonic Heroes was the beginning but wtf they both sucked to me but Sonic 2006 seem to suck more.

DA2....still haven't brought it yet maybe If an ultimate collection comes out if I can catch a 10-15 price tag then maybe I'll get it.

MS brought them, they revive some of their old series like PD and Banjo but those games didn't turn out like everyone thought they would and then they started making Kinect games. The End.

Resistance 2/3. Not bad games on their own, just changed way too much and mostly for the negative.

Agreed with BioShock 2. Same as above, not a bad game, just not in the same league as the original. That lady got damn annoying. I hated listening to her talking the entire game.

Disagreed with MW2. From what I remember, the campaign was similar to CoD4 and Spec Ops were plenty playable. If it had a short campaign and you paid $60, ok, be disappointed. Be patient and pay $10-15 and it seems much more worth it. Already knew CoD MP was trashy, so that didn't disappoint. They mention not caring about WaW. That should be the one on the list. When I got around to playing it, it felt like three quarters of a generation behind MW and Blops.

Rare was my favorite developer and they ruined every sequel they attempted. I am still fuming over Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts.

Twisted Metal 2+3, Final Fantasy X-2, All-Pro Football 2k8, Resident Evil 5, Breath of Fire V, Xenosaga Ep. II,

Off the top of my head anyways.

I think this is how Japanese devs need to think. Catering to the west is a terrible idea. I personally, seek out Japanese developed games because they bring a unique experience to gaming. They just stand out more that way.

Eonjay29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

What do you mean when you say this is how they 'need to think'. I understand the idea of wanting to do them without worrying about Western sensibilities but I also think a Japanese dev can do whatever the hell they want. They don't have to 'think' the way some westerner in a forum says they have to think. You think you are giving someone a compliment but you are really being weird. Its not about who you are but what you do. Last year's GOTY was a western studio that made a JRPG. You didn't see any Japanese people claim that a studio in a Western company had to think a certain way. And yes, I do understand thats not what you were saying but I think we should always challenge our own viewpoints. Personally I have love the unique experiences that devs in Japan bring and I agree they don't need to cater to Western sensibilities. I only take issue with you saying how they need to think. Thats dangerous.

What he’s referring to is when a company like Atlus does a game and one of the characters per se ; call one of the other kids a retard , they shouldn’t have to censor the final product because of snowflakes all the way in America that are constantly ranting on twitter . None of these folks are real fans and only look for stuff to cry about . If you start pandering too much they end up taking more than a leg and an arm . Japanese humour is so funny but I hate when it’s censored because of “ western sensibilities “

Everyone understood the meaning behind the message but you. “I think” you need to go to the mirror, look yourself in the eyes call yourself an idiot sandwich.

The sonic music is iconic the mega drive games were some of the best on the system but i wouldn't say they were free of western influence especially since 3 was composed in part by Michael Jackson

But honestly most of the crush 40 soundtrack music lives in my head rent free

Sonic 2 Emerald Hill ❤️

Please. Doesn't hold a candle to Chemical Plant Zone.

Stopac29d ago

Uhhh that's a strange thing for him to say. Even in the interview he admits to listening to a lot of western music.

NotoriousWhiz29d ago

Inspiration and trend chasing are not the same thing.

Eonjay29d ago

I think its strange that the topic of Western catering comes up with Sonic at all. Sometimes things just are what they are.

If the choices won't matter, why bother? Bioware works so hard at giving meaningful choices but rarely if ever carrying out the impact of such choices to the end.
