I been to a lot of forums a lot of people did say they were going to return it because warner went exclusive to blu ray..

i for 1 am going to keep my hddvd player and library cuz the money i have salready spent is gone and the movies i have r really great so there is no need to get rid of them besides the war isnt over

I work at a Best Buy.. and today alone I had at least 5 HD-DVD players come back and they all bought Blu-Ray players instead.

Before the announcement I would see maybe 2 a week come back because families seem to be misinformed. They all believed they could get Disney movies on HD-DVD and once they found out they couldnt then they came back. Shrek the Third can only go so far to help the dead format. Pixar/Disney is where the true family films are.

I bought my HDDVD player from Amazon last year now I'm stuck with it. To make matters worst I also own one of MS's crappy player for the 360 :(

I returned my A3 and movies that i got on boxing day. After the Warner announcement i didn't want to risk having a player that wouldn't have any movies in a few months. I got full money back for the player and store credit for the opened movies.

You need proof? It's logical, there's no need for proof. HD-DVD is having a massive heart-attack.

I work for Blockbuster, and I take it upon myself to make it my personal duty to inform every person that rents from our small HD-DVD section, of the defection of Warner bros. and of the impending defection of Paramount, Universal, and New Line.

Not one HD-DVD owner leaves my store without hearing about the impending Blu-ray dominance.

Blockbuster supports blu-ray now anyways....so it's not like it's just a personal thing.

A friend of mine told his dad to return the HD-DVD player he got for xmas along with like 4-5 HD movies because of this. Everything wasn't even opened yet so they got kinda lucky in returning them but definitely if you can you mine as well and invest that money in a PS3 or PC BR add-on.

I chose not to buy the ADD-ON or the PS3, I refuse to be caught up in the format war, I see a lot of lawsuits being raised because of this fiasco, when there was Betamax and VHS movies were just picking up pace so nobody really knew what was going on, but this time I think this will reach very high legal implications, the public are not test crash dummies and should be compensated.

You guys sighning a petition to end the HD-DVD format make me sick, this is not just Xbox-360 owners that suffer, remember there are many buyers of the standalone format who had no intention of buying a games console, all they see is a piece of hardware they bought that states it will play HD-DVD and they have been betrayed by the hardware makers and the film companies.

I want this to be over before half of 2008.

Its no suprise. Your general consumer has no 'aliegence' and doesn't care about formats - they just want to buy their HD movies and watch them at home. For them, its a real pain having to change the system they've just bought, but my heart really goes out to those who have had it for some time and have bought lots of software. No way back for those guys and they are faced with buying another system if they wish to purchase HD movies in the future.
Thats the problem wiht ANY war, there are always casualties, and they are never people who deserve it....

Actually, the HD DVD player is the least returned HD player for us.
We get more Sony BDPS300 back then anything.
Mainly, because it's slow and pricey(use to be) compared to a PS3.
The BD1400 from Sammy isn't too far behind the Sony unit.
We've got 4 open boxes now due to returns. (returned because it was too slow)

Most HD DVD players get returned because they don't have the latest firmware update.
"Picture jumps on certain movies" We upload the firmware and fix it for them. We do the same to BD players too if it's just a firmware update.

Yes tons. Local buy and sell forums in my city are full of people offloading their HD DVD discs and hardware

Well i've noticed an increase in the number of pre-owned HD DVD's in gamestation recently, i've also noticed that woolworths only have 1 or 2 HD DVD films compared with a section for blu-ray, might be different in larger stores however

The Dreamcast died off because of a number of factors:

1. Sony's hype that the PS2 would be the most powerful console around was BS, it also lead to more sales and Dreamcast started to fall down.

2. Sega's marketing team was not up to stratch and they did not advertise enough meaning less and less consoles sold.

3. Alot of money was being lost and Sega could not bleed too much money, they are not EA or MS for that matter.

4. Sega pissed off Dev teams espically Japanese devs because they dropped the Saturn way too fast and left it for dead. By doing this, they lost alot of support far too quickly.

As for the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray format war, its not over and I know that many of you guys know this. Still gonna go on till at least 2009 maybe 2010.

It sucks for MS to know their format has lost bad to Blu-ray
but
at least MS didn't port the drive into a new 360 then they would of been screwed both owner and consumer.
I'm a Sony Fan but I'm not a hater and it would suck to be on the losing side but you always must think of the positive things to come out of this little issue.
Just get yourselves a Blu-Ray player and just be happy.
Blu-ray is really the better format though more textures, better sound, and better movement.
I gotta admit HD DVD had more options but Sony can just do an upgrade so not feeling bad for you guys.
