Blizzard will open a studio in São Paulo, Brazil

EGW writes: "It's official: Blizzard, renowned publisher of games like Wold of Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft, is finally coming to Brazil! According to Steve Huot, Blizzard's director for Latin America affairs, the first game on the company's portfolio to be released in Brazil will be Starcraft II, completely in portuguese from menus to voiceworks.

I don't think this 'studio' is meant to be a so-called 'programming sweatshop.' Brazil has relatively progressive labor laws and encourages union formation, so it's difficult for corporations to readily take advantage of Brazilian workers. I think some good may actually come of this (perhaps in the form of a new IP?).

There are some good developers in South America. ACE Team, for example.

I don't think Blizzard is opening this studio to do development work, though. Sounds like it's just going to be localization.

i woudl support then if their prices are reasonable, if we have to pay 200 bucks like any other game here in brazil then its a no go...
