I dont demand blu-ray, Its beat. my upconver player is good enough for me. I dont sit 3 feet from my t.v to care bout high def media. I sit about 6 to 7 and i can not tell a dam difference. Mind you I have a Regza t.v

It's been said a million times over. Sony last year said time and time again. We have a better Business model than Microsoft. No one wanted to listen. Microsoft instead of making smart decisions they made spiteful decisions. They took routes that would slander Sony's name and make Sony look idiotic in their decisions. Microsoft knew dammnn well HD-DVD had an up hill battle. from the moment Sony implemnted Blu-Ray into the PS3 that was pretty much the Swan Song for HD-DVD. With Stand alone Next-gen format players being soo expensive Sony basically offered you a two for one special with the Blu-Ray Inclusion. The hates can't swallow it. But here is a glass a water kidds. Bottoms up.

Alot of people call the PS3 the "Trojan Horse" for Blu-ray. But if you remember correctly. "The guys inside the horse won that war" : )

admit it. They don't contribute to the film or music industry, but turned on the massive blu-ray support day 1! Even Paramount was their day 1. What a joke. Make a movie MS or a in-house player, or shut up. I don't trust MS like all my 360 owning friends (they refused the dud add on and got a PS3 for xmas). Even the BDA said what they would do if they failed. But they ARE the ACTUAL theater (film production), home distribution, and hardware providers!

Nope.

SCE can now officially say that Blu-ray controls over 70% segmentation of the HD market. Major studios recently including Warner Brothers, have switched to Blu-Ray Exclusives in how they publish their movies.
The upperhand Blu-Ray has gotten over its competition is a very hard one, it is very likely that only Blu-Ray will be supported in the HD market by this time next year.

Even our competition in some areas is looking into any opportunities as to how to approach Blu-Ray. The chance that our competition will be allowed to utilize Blu-ray in its inventory is very unlikely.

The fact that Sony already heavily relies on Microsoft easily leaves the doors open for a deal to be made.

Who is forcing anyone. People cannot be forced to buy anything if they feel its not for them. Lots of people wanted HD video and they chose Blu-Ray as their format. HD-DVD didn't sell even as a 360 addon. This is the ultimate proof. If Microsoft wanted to sell HD discs they would have chosen Blu-Ray and be a richer company today. Now they are stuck with Toshiba and will try to market their unpopular mediacenter with hd video download. HD video downloads is not a bad idea however this will be won by Apple or Sony or someone else. This Blu-Ray win actually meant Microsoft just lost their opportunity at HD video downloads. Disagree if you may but in two years you will se I was right.

as if consumers control corporate execs. especially when it comes to M$. They've been f*cking over gamers ever since they released the 360 so what makes anyone think they will push out a blu-ray player if "everyone" pickets their office or demand a blue ray player.

That's just asinine. Beg and cry for a feature that will drive up the price. By the time said feature would be implemented, you could just buy a player for an equivalent price.

What I do think would be a good idea would be a Blu-Ray add-on.

The thing is, even am HD-DVD standard 360 would be a monumentally dumb idea, because the blasted thing can't use it for games anyway. Did the N64 have a CD player? How about the Genesis? Gamecube play DVDs? I rest my case.

Add-on? Yes. Standard? Hell no. It would only make them look like fools.

Microsoft when the hd dvd play was announced said that if and when blu ray became dominate they could and would support that format.

It would've made the 360 games (as well as PS3 multiplats) a lot better. But now that it's too late and they can only do it for movies, I'm sure someone in Microsoft is fighting to release a Blu-ray Addon.

It may take a while, but just like HDMI, 1080p, and HD-DVD, I'm sure it'll get out eventually. Hopefully sooner rather than later because there is a LOT of money to be made off of Blu-ray hardware.

Plus DJ if ALL MAJOR COMPANIES use Blu-Ray INCLUDING MICROSOFT that will be nothing but a WIN WIN FOR SONY

Crap... now the Sony fanboys are in full swing. I thought we beat them and got rid of them in this generation. I hate Sony fanboys so much cuz they are so arrogant, loud, use weird symbols when they write, and defy all logic. They just eat whatever Sony feeds them.

They always talk up games and when the games comes to Xbox I'm like... this game series sucks! Like Metal Gear Solid... I have never played a worse game them that. I'm about console freedom and not "p0wn!ng". I just wish they could just enjoy their games as much as they do because they appeal to them and I could enjoy the games that appeal to me. That's why I already have two of the next generation consoles this generation and will have the third when my money supports.

Only 1.6% of Xbox 360 owners actually purchased the HD DVD add on. It is/was a failure.

The PS3 offered Hi-Def integrated into the system at a more afforable price since day one, not to forget, supporting the superior format.

The future is Blu. The future is the Playstation 3 Super Home Computer.

well actually it would be a good thing, you know make every xbox360 have a bluray drive, then you wouldnt have the ridulous 3 dvd blue dragon and 4 dvd lost odyssey

I believe that the future is Blu-Ray and Downloadable movies and I will tell you why. DLC is great when you just want to watch a movie check it out but what if you want to own the movie. Currently you can only watch downloads for 24 hours(except for older movies). And at some point you will need to back up all that HD content and Blu-Ray is the best format for that. If you know you want to own a movie it is best to buy it on Blu-Ray.

Either way you will need to have some kind of storage media other than a hard drive for backing data up/copy.

If Microsoft is such a looser if it'll do that!
Everyone who wants a blu-ray player BUY A PS3!!!

I don't think 1.6% adoption rate is necessarily a failure. You need to look if it brought revenue/profit to the company because that is what determines if something is a success or a failure. I am kind of wondering if they were making money on the HD-DVD drive.

The Xbox 360 is far more successful than the PS3 and the PS3 has Blu-Ray. Try to deny the 360 is more successful PS3 fans and you will be a fool. The Wii, 360, Mac and PC have seemed to do very well without Blu-Ray.

Infact the only platform supporting Blu-Ray at all is Sony's, everyone else is still using DVD which still holds 95% of the market. It's going to take years to push DVD out and by that time downloading will be as mainstream as MP3s. By the time Blu-Ray takes DVD everyone will have portable entertainment that plugs into everything anywhere.

DVD, HD DVD and Blu-Ray are all old tech and they are all in their dying days and the sooner the better. So have fun with those disc guys because soon the only good thing about them will be coffee coasters or portable mirrors to comb your hair in. The world is allready aware of downloadable entertainment and there are many services that reach around the world. Xbox Live, Blockbuster, Netflix, Valve and every broadband service has jumped on this bandwagon.

Sony, like their gaming console is a generation behind and they are even going to offer a downloadable service and you droids will be the worlds biggest hypocrites because you will have to defend all that which you talked sh!t about and I like many xbots will be here to laugh at you like we have so many times this year.

i hope 360 does add a blu ray add on, it will just prove sony thinks about long term not the short term buck. the more support blu ray gets the more you have to admit sony's got some idea of whats going on for consumers...

bullsh!t. it's going to affect 360 sales if Blu-ray wins.

think about it. if you're in a store and you have a great video games console that can also play HD discs and you have just a great games console...which would you pick? if i didn't already own both and Blu-ray was in when i decided to get one or the other, i'd go with the Blu-ray games console. you hit two birds with one stone.

if HD DVD dies it may not directly affect sales of the 360, but it will indirectly affect sales of it by making sales of the PS3 increase.
just an opinion.
