He's got a much more "70's/80's punk" aesthetic to him at this point.

They look different, because they're running on different engines.

Capcom's is a exclusive engine to the publisher.

You are claiming that unreal cannot compare with inhouse engine, and then as an example for Unreal mediocre performance you compare God of War 3 to Castlevania LOS which in fact WAS AN INHOUSE ENGINE (and mainly developed towards the PS3) and has nothing to do with Unreal Engine!?
(Unless by GOW3 you actually meant Gears of War 3 and not God of War 3which then just contradicts your statement)

In fact, both examples aren't good examples for upclose textures since both GOW and Castlevania don't look very good up close. These are faced paced action games of scale and big enemy encounters (much bigger in case of GOW, which is where it shines), so the focus is obviously not on close up details.

And another gripe with Castlevania is that the developer (mercurysteam) was never renowned for their technological skills (unlike Santa Monica), so it's also a matter of how good is the developer and not just the tools. Amazingly looking titles like Gears of War 3, Batman, ME3, and the upcoming Bioshock Infinite prove that with the right developers Unreal Engine shines and can put to shame almost any in-house engine be it from 1st party or 3rd party devs.

Ninja Theory are skilled developers. They proved it once with their in-house engine for PS3 with Heavenly Sword (which was one of the best looking PS3 titles at the beginning of the console lifecycle), and proved it again with Enslaved which was Unreal Engine based and looked even better than their in-house based HS. So far their version of DMC is looking as if they still got the touch (and so far better looking than DMC4, which makes sense since it's a 2008 game)

The games you mentioned look great for UE but compared to inhouse didnt quiet cut it. I wont say more since you are having delusions of grandeur being a fannyboy and all.

Fact is, Gears of War 3 is one of the finest looking games on any console, right up there with Uncharted 3 and other select few. And anyway Arkham on the PC wipes the floor with both of them thanks to amazing Physx implementation that the consoles simply can't handle. But that's the hardware I guess.

So I don't know if you're one of those crying PS3 fanboys who hold a childish grudge against NT ever since the stopped being exclusive, or just a DMC fanboy mad about the Dante redesign (where true fans of the franchise shouldn't even care: Dante always had extremely stupid looks. My question is why do you want another DMC that's the same. I bet many of you complaining about how it's not the same, are the same people who bash COD fans for each entry in that franchise being the same.

DMC 1 was good. DMC 2 was ok. DMC 3 was the best. DMC 4 was decent. The franchise had ran out of progression, and it was time for something new. Is this DmC it? I won't know until I play it, but stop knocking it until you've tried it. But haters gonna hate.

Dude nothing is wrong with change when it is necessary however I see no reason for the protagonist to get a makeover nor reducing the frames per seconds from 60 to 30 to use an engine that wasn't needed in the first place.

Nothing was wrong with Devil May Cry 4 other than it was a prequel, not saying they should have made it exactly like the previous installments but nobody has yet to show me the improvements in combat from this new DMC compared to Devil May Cry 3 or 4 or said the looks of the new Dante is so much better than the last.

All I see is Capcom trying a poor attempt to change Kamiya's work into something that it's not because they don't have enough confidence in their own development team to take on the challenge of taking it to the next level.....

That's perfectly fine if you play it and you actually feel that way, but at this point -- having not played the game and having no context whatsoever other than whether this feature or that feature is the same as it was in previous games -- it's just a little ridiculous to be this outraged over all this.

Bubbles for being helpful Whitefox. I really wished they would have stuck it out for a year to learn the software however I always felt that fast and frenzied combat was a staple in the series but according to the fans of the new DMC I am way off......

There is no gain from NT using the MT framework, it would be wasted time learning how to function a new engine and would probably need alot of capcom staff to show them how the engine works.
After this DmC project NT will need to go back to using UE3 so basically them learning how to use the MT framework would have been a complete waste of time.

On a side note: Does anyone remember Resident Evil 5 running on UE3?

Im not a DMC fan, I play the games if they are good that looks like a less annoying Edward Cullen rip off, they wont be getting my money while he still looks like that...

Actually it doesn't take anything much to change it... its like adding a new skin unto a character. It' only the cut scenes that may be an issue...

I don't actually care if they change it... I just want the DMC story to make sense, and for them to explain WHY he looks different... The issue here is Ninja Theory already said its not within the DMC universe as we know it... this is bull in my view and an easy way out for them to try and appease fan rage... It will take a lot of convincing for me to pick this up. I see new comers to the franchise getting it though.

And DMC fans are sad because the main protagonist has a different face?... How? Imagine changing Nathan Drake, Master Chief, Kratos... or someone from your favourite TV show? The same applies here... some amount of fan disappointment and rage will always accompany franchises that people care about...
