The Day After

Lots of blogs and sites that barely cover high-def disc formats are suddenly coming out with plenty of coverage now of the recent news about Warner's end to format neutrality.

the logo will definitely help HDDVD sales. After all price is what matters.

I'm going to miss this war. It was a lot of fun.

they do seem a little worried about it but if you read a little towards the end...well...I was laughing. Bubbles anyone?

PS Thanks for the bubbles!!!

but then again, announcement now was just a shocker. but Warner Bros. will still be releasing HD-DVD movies up until May.

It's not a lost cause yet.

the format isnt over just yet. There is still a long road ahead for BluRay but with WB joining the BluRay camp exclusively, HDDVD looses a BIG player for their team. Blu's odds of winning just increased. If you think about how the move of Paramount to HDDVD was it was the total opposite. The only one that seemed to have been more affected by it was Paramount because their sales actually decreased compared to what they would have sold if they would have stayed with Bluray. Even if it they would have gone neutral it would have been a better move for them. Lets wait and see what happens in the next months. For now, I just wanted to have a little fun.

"Here’s something to remember about your HD DVD player and collection:

* They still work - (for now)
* There are still discs coming out (for now)
* You can buy stuff cheap from the people who are running for the hills - (yea so)"

My comments in brackets.

I wonder if the "The Day After" will be on Blu-ray? It scared the Hell outta me as a youngster. 8D

/edit: ABC Circle Films (1983). ABC is owned by Disney so yes, maybe it will go Blu!

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
