Devil May Cry gets SIXAXIS support, achievements

Foreign reviewers have received copies of Devil May Cry 4 on PS3, and have revealed a few new details about the game. First is an annoyance that we're sure many will complain about: the 5GB install to remove the game's load times is not optional. When the game releases, you'll be forced to endure minutes upon minutes of waiting as the game copies gigabytes of data to your PS3 hard drive.

There's good news, though. The game will use the PSN for ranking modes. You'll also be able to collect achievements in the game (like in the Xbox 360 version) and you'll be able to see what achievements your friends have collected (a la Xbox Live).

I can use Dante all the game thru the 2nd time. (Unlockable for every level)

HarryEtTubMan6627d ago

I bet this will work through Home too

TheHater6627d ago

I actually agree. We might see what we unlock on home.

WAR_MACHINE776627d ago

The next month is going to be hell for me. I have it paid in full and I can't wait to start slaughtering everything in sight with alastor.

Robotz Rule6627d ago

I can't wait to pick this game up for my PS3 next month:)

titntin6627d ago

Why would anyone moan at a few minutes install time when the pay off is no loadng when you are playing the game?

Darkiewonder6627d ago

They waited this long for the game, they can't wait 20+ minutes more lol

v1c1ous6627d ago

the issue here is...its mandatory.

what if this starts to become a trend? think about it.

you install one game, no biggie. 3 games, no prob. soon you have a 10+ game library, and you will have to install a bigger hdd just to compensate.

or think about having not enough memory and having to go through this whole dance and song if you want to replay a game you hadn't played in a while...

EZCheez6627d ago

It already is the trend for the PS3. A lot of the games now come with game data to reduce load times. I've just never heard of one that big.

Ashta6627d ago

Even though some of the HDD downloads are mandatory they can always be deleted at a later date to save up room for your PS3.

Remember, deleting system data does not mean you lose progress data. They are seperate from each other and system data can be deleted without worrying about losing all of your stats or saved games.

Anego Montoya FTMFW6627d ago

you can delete it if you want.

how many games are you REALLy gonna be playing at the same time.

also, you can upgrade your HDD for really cheap.

but, for people w/ 20gb it might be a bit of a problem.

but then again, just delete a few demos and you should have enough room how many demos does one really need.

mighty_douche6627d ago (Edited 6627d ago )

because they're console n00bs. Any PC gamer knows all about installing games and its benefits, as consoles get more like PC'c (in hardware) it will obviously have to pick up a few PC habits.

whats the problem? install... play... delete if you need the space...

im sure all game saves and unlocks will be saved in another file so you wont loss anything important.

Power of Blu6627d ago

People moan because it's the PS3.

socsca6627d ago

Read Vicious comment carefully, he makes sense and he has a point, I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the fact that its because its about the ps3 like one of you mentioned. Personally I don't care about the install thing, if it means shorter loading times its for the better. I plan on upgrading my HDD soon anyway.

DMC2 ranked 2nd and also DmC ranked 3rd?
What a load of BS!

ABizzel1316d ago

IMO

6. DMC2 6/10
5. DMC4 7.5/10 (Hated Nero, repeat bosses, Dante was the saving grace but only about half the game)
4. DmC 7.5/10 (solid overall, some great ideas, meh story, dialog sucked, and the director almost killed DMC)
3. DMC1 8.5/10 (all around solid)
2. DMC5 9/10 (carried by Dante & Nero gameplay, I didn’t like V’s, Nero’s better but still not a fan)
1. DCM3 10/10 (chef’s kiss)

Vits316d ago

Well, it worked.

This nothingburger of a opinion article got a lot of views and comments.

Pyrofire95316d ago

WHAT!? who in their right mind would put 2 near the top (not at the bottom) unironically?
I think all of them are worth playing in their own right honestly, except 2 unless you REALLY want to experience the whole series.

FinalFantasyFanatic315d ago (Edited 315d ago )

I honestly don't know what the author was smoking, personally I'd rank DMC3 as no.1, maybe DMC5 as second, DMC1 as third, DMC4 as fourth, and DMC as fifth and DMC2 last. such a bizarre list, mybe the author just has strange taste.

lellkay316d ago

DMC2 anywhere but last is crazy. Awful list overall.

BlaqMagiq1316d ago

"Devil May Cry 2 isn’t trash. It’s just misunderstood by a fanbase that doesn’t like change."

This and putting DMC 2 number 2 is all I need to ignore this ranking. DMC2 is absolute trash and it's clear this person doesn't understand exactly why.

Flenter316d ago

For me: 3,1,5,4,2 and then .....Dmc

fsfsxii316d ago (Edited 316d ago )

Why is DmC last? Genuinely curious.

lellkay316d ago (Edited 316d ago )

Dmc is far superior to DMC2 come on

generic-user-name316d ago

"almost 20-year-old series"

It's 24 years old.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

VersusDMC678d ago

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC678d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos677d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Cacabunga677d ago

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer678d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey602678d ago (Edited 678d ago )

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya678d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde678d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP677d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.

Bless the adorably all digital future! When it comes to PC games its not as big of an issue because there should always be another way to access single player games, but still, I hate to see anything get delisted.

Aaroncls7755d ago

Well, DMC4 special edition has a lot of issues to run from Steam.
I have to get a modded executable to even be able to run the game on Windows 10.
Not sure if it is because the game runs in DirectX10 or what, but it sucks they have not even tried to fix it.

Sephiroushin754d ago (Edited 754d ago )

DMC4 Special Edition is not delisted, it was just the standard version, it has nothing to do with issues of performance or anything alike. Its just that Capcom probably do not want to sell the standard version, neither the standalone DMC3 version.
