Armored Core V Review | The Controller Online

Scott from The Controller Online writes: "After From Software’s recent success with Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls they’ve decided to take a trip back to their roots and make a new Armored Core game. Though this entry in the series is called Armored Core V, I’m not sure that it’s supposed to mean Armored Core 5 since there are about thirteen Armored Core games. Newcomers don’t need to be worried about being lost though as this isn’t a direct sequel. They may instead need to be worried that it just isn’t all that great."

Seems like every AC games since AC3 have been average.

Captain Qwark 95182d ago

they review average becuase they are simply not mainstream games. to fans most of them have been excellent. to a fan such as me for example, ac5 is one of the best yet. an easy 8.5 however to your average gamer, its exactly what this review shows, about a 6.

i wouldnt tell anybody this game is worth an 8.5/9 to anybody but mech fans, to most of my buddies, i tell them its prob not for them.

That was one of my thought about the game series. I used to be a big fan of the AC series until I strayed away many years ago, and I understand how this is like a niche type of game where "outsiders" won't enjoy as much.

NOW THE REAL QUESTION WHO WANTS TO PLAY HAZE.....

Fluke_Skywalker2882d ago

Haze was nowhere near as bad as it was made out to be. I actually really liked it.
It was just released at a bad time when Sony and the PS3 could do no right. The developers and Sony over hyped it and it fell on its own sword.

The framerate and rending were more of the concern over resolution for me, and I can see they are making solid strides. Haze runs pretty well and doesn't seem to have many graphical or audio glitches (one cannot say the same for Ghost Recon lol). Given Sony hasn't provided any real backwards compatibility options, this is something I might consider. I still have my PS3 hooked up if I have a hankering for some last gen goodness, but I also wouldn't mind playing those games with either increased resolution or frame rate, whenever the emulator gets to that point :-)
