Joystiq:
The last game EA Maxis launched in the SimCity series was SimCity 4, almost ten years ago. It's still being played today, thanks in part to a Steam launch in 2010, but mostly thanks to the modding scene. However, EA Maxis will not launch the new SimCity in 2013 with mod support.

Some games force online-only measures onto people. It sucks! Especially when some titles, like these seven, 100% didn't need it.

The following is an excerpt from Chapter 5 of The Secret History of Mac Gaming, “Simulated.”

EA has something of a reputation when it comes to awkwardly handling much-loved franchises. Here are 7 that Screen Critics feel they ruined.
Need for Speed as well. Here's to hope that the new one will be a return to form for the franchise.
...then FINALLY getting it announced, and now all this news (DLC/Micro-transaction nickel-and-diming, always online requirements, no mod-support, etc etc) which completely crushes ANY excitement I had for the game.
I really hate the direction gaming has been taken by greedy developers.
Knowing EA you will have to download DLC to play mods and the mods will be very limited.
EA is the worst game publisher
*Looks at EA* It better be free via a patch later on. Paying for mod support is BS.
I would love mods in this game. But I think the biggest question on my mind is what will happen once EA decides they want to shut down the servers since this game is starting to look like its multiplayer happy. I don't want to buy this game and it becomes a paper weight because I can no longer play it due to EA's BullS**t
Sweet another game EA insists I pirate.
