Devil May Cry 4: Sparkling Visuals, Smooth Framerate, Solid action & Polished

GameSpy writes:
"Even though 2007 has now come to a close, the flood of upcoming games hasn't slowed much. Devil May Cry 4 is one of early 2008's hottest titles, and we've spent quite a bit of time tinkering with it during our holiday break. On second thought, "tinker" is a tad gentle. We've slain demons, hacked and slashed through gates, and collected red orbs until our eyes were red. Based on what we've played of the first five levels, fans of the series are in for a treat."

2008 will be the ultimate action adventure showdown between Dante and Ryu.
Ninja Gaiden 2 vs Devil May Cry 4. If only God of War 3 could make it in 2008.

MK_Red6685d ago

I'm a huge DMC fan but DMC2 proved that even mighty Capcom can screw up it's big games and in case of DMC, I'll wait for reviews before my purchase or at least some kind of demo / hands-on.

ThaGeNeCySt6685d ago

I won't argue that, but i'm a HUGE capcom fanboy, and I eat up whatever they throw at me :( (yes, even street fighter 2 ex)

MK_Red6685d ago

The only company that I loved and followed like that is(was) Black Isle(RIP) and to some degree, publisher Interplay.
Now I don't trust any of publishers. Among the devs, I have absolute faith Criterion followed by Obsidian and DoubleFine.
Others that I do follow the most are Ubisoft Montreal, Lionhead, Bethesda and BioWare.

heyheyhey6685d ago

ubisoft montreal eh well me too but that went down the drain after AC- i bought it without reading reviews or anything, i will be careful when it comes to AC2

MK_Red6685d ago

lol, AC is actually one of the reasons I love them so much. I really REALLY enjoyred AC and consider it one of the best games of 2007.

Devil May Cry has achieved many accomplishments throughout it's tenure on the PlayStation 2. Dark Sniper forsees this trend to continue with Devil May Cry 4 receiving exclusive content for the PLAYSTATION 3® version.

With the hardware structure of the XBOX 360, Dark Sniper fully expects the XBOX 360 port of this game to suffer through extensive, long and strenuous loading times with frequent glitches and poor framerate to boot. Thus making the PS3 version of Devil May Cry the de-facto copy to receive to satisfy the Devil May Cry enthusiast.

DMC2 ranked 2nd and also DmC ranked 3rd?
What a load of BS!

ABizzel1373d ago

IMO

6. DMC2 6/10
5. DMC4 7.5/10 (Hated Nero, repeat bosses, Dante was the saving grace but only about half the game)
4. DmC 7.5/10 (solid overall, some great ideas, meh story, dialog sucked, and the director almost killed DMC)
3. DMC1 8.5/10 (all around solid)
2. DMC5 9/10 (carried by Dante & Nero gameplay, I didn’t like V’s, Nero’s better but still not a fan)
1. DCM3 10/10 (chef’s kiss)

Vits373d ago

Well, it worked.

This nothingburger of a opinion article got a lot of views and comments.

Pyrofire95372d ago

WHAT!? who in their right mind would put 2 near the top (not at the bottom) unironically?
I think all of them are worth playing in their own right honestly, except 2 unless you REALLY want to experience the whole series.

FinalFantasyFanatic372d ago (Edited 372d ago )

I honestly don't know what the author was smoking, personally I'd rank DMC3 as no.1, maybe DMC5 as second, DMC1 as third, DMC4 as fourth, and DMC as fifth and DMC2 last. such a bizarre list, mybe the author just has strange taste.

DMC2 anywhere but last is crazy. Awful list overall.

BlaqMagiq1373d ago

"Devil May Cry 2 isn’t trash. It’s just misunderstood by a fanbase that doesn’t like change."

This and putting DMC 2 number 2 is all I need to ignore this ranking. DMC2 is absolute trash and it's clear this person doesn't understand exactly why.

Flenter373d ago

For me: 3,1,5,4,2 and then .....Dmc

fsfsxii373d ago (Edited 373d ago )

Why is DmC last? Genuinely curious.

lellkay373d ago (Edited 373d ago )

Dmc is far superior to DMC2 come on

"almost 20-year-old series"

It's 24 years old.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

VersusDMC734d ago

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC734d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos734d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Cacabunga734d ago

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer734d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey602734d ago (Edited 734d ago )

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya734d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde734d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP734d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.

Bless the adorably all digital future! When it comes to PC games its not as big of an issue because there should always be another way to access single player games, but still, I hate to see anything get delisted.

Aaroncls7812d ago

Well, DMC4 special edition has a lot of issues to run from Steam.
I have to get a modded executable to even be able to run the game on Windows 10.
Not sure if it is because the game runs in DirectX10 or what, but it sucks they have not even tried to fix it.

Sephiroushin811d ago (Edited 811d ago )

DMC4 Special Edition is not delisted, it was just the standard version, it has nothing to do with issues of performance or anything alike. Its just that Capcom probably do not want to sell the standard version, neither the standalone DMC3 version.
