Totally natural lighting, even when there is still a whole year of work left to be done, while Resistance, MotorStorm, WarHawk and Heavenly Sword are the delights fast approaching...MGS4, DMC4 and FF-XIII will be the delights of 2007. They don't even know what exactly is good in any game, they totally drool over even 'bullet witch', '99 nights' or 'Sylpheed' at the same time as on 'gears of war' or 'test drive unlimited' which by the way ain't a great game at all, getting only 7.8 from gamespot.com. I still play metal gear substance on my xbox. This is why I want a ps3. I wasn't a big fan of MGS3 but I can't say that this isn't impressive. Good stuff!

How 360 fans have exactly no idea what MGS4 means!! Its much MUCH more than amazing graphics people! Its a great and immersive story, origional new gameplay that rivals any game EVER made!! Its the challenges the game puts against you and lastly the vastly superior graphics!! A truly epic series of games that is coming to a grand finale!! How can you people doubt such a legendary and talented developer who puts his life and soul into making such a great game over three platforms? Anyone who has doubts just isn't a gamer and can't appreciate such a great game! You should be ashamed of the things you say and its just sad that because this game is exclusive to PS3 you bash it like its not a AAA title all the while hypeing games that have prove NOTHING more than pretty graphics! Graphics alone don't make AAA titles!

I have not watched the trailers or seen any of the pictures of MGS4. Why? well i want to see a real time gameplay demo or trailer etc not something which is pre-rendered, CGI etc.

They must totally think that these graphics aren't possible. The MGS series is known for great stories and great gameplay, on top of stunning graphics. Even Kojima says that there's still over a year of work to be done, and if anyone remembers, his final product ended up surpassing the trailers.

MGS2 kind of duped us too. Every trailer took place on a damp, rainy tanker ship. But that ended up only being the first hour and a half of the game. Hell, even MGS3 took over an hour to get to the intro credits. He loves screwing around with us, and don't be surprised if he hasn't shown us what the 'main environment' will be like.

BTW, Kojima has NEVER used CGI/pre-rendered cinemas. He does everything in-game.

Everybody knows the scans they showed of MGS4 yesterday where more yellow than the actual norman green hazy color. The games not yellow DUH! it's hazy green and faded with 3 or 4 colors. Theres no getting around it the games taking a hit on memory theres no way all the badass(Big & complex) games for the PS3 have the same art style. The game will always have an pickle green haze.

Noone is accusing anything to be CGI, jesus christ DJ ur a freaking dork get over yourself and the PS3. Next time you speak please post something that is informative for a change.

MGS4 is puke green and faded with no color the older games had 3X the color. If it wasn't for mario MGS4 wouldn't be here. lol whats you're point. That's sad looking, same with RFOM. That's WRONG! no matter wich way you tools spin it.

these scans suck ass. It looks horrible. The colors are all skewed and the graphics dont look special at all. Hopefully a trailer will surface and it will look alot better but as of right now there is NOTHING STUNNING ABOUT THIS GAME!

Kojima never EVER used CGI (or pre-rendered, or whatever) scenes in any metal gear game.
The reason why he doesn't is because he's a very hard to please director. And as, i hope, you guys noticed, he probably is the only game developper being that close to a movie director.
Kojima likes to change some details with camera angles, lights, color tones etc constantly.
He has already stated that pre-rendered scenes would piss him off because he'd have to wait for render etc. That's why he never uses CGI.

So, cut scenes DO use the ingame engine. however, since it's a cut scene, it's always a bit better looking than actual gameplay, that's just obvious.
However, it has improved a lot from MGS to MGS3. In MGS3 it's actually pretty hard to see any differences between cut scenes and actual gameplay. The Kojima team always seemed to be one of the best users of PS hardware. So i guess this MGS4 could be very, very stunning.

Now that Jim Ryan is gone just need to remove Herman Hulst from his position! And maybe give Shuhei the position he deserved.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
