NVIDIA Details GeForce 9600 GT

NVIDIA's newest mid-range processor, codenamed D9M, will make its official debut as the GeForce 9600 GT.

Corporate guidance from NVIDIA lists the initial GeForce 9600 GT shipments come stock with a 650 MHz core clock and a 1625 MHz unified shader clock. Unlike the G84 core found on GeForce 8600 GT, D9M will feature a 256-bit memory bus interface. Coupled with a 900 MHz memory clock, NVIDIA calculates the memory bandwidth at 57.6 GB/s.

The texture fill rate is estimated at 20.8 billion pixels per second. The company would not indicate how many shaders or stream processors reside on the D9M core.

Late last year, NVIDIA confirmed the D9 family will use TSMC's 65nm process node. The company introduced its first 65nm processor shrink in November 2007: the G92.

20.8 billion pixel's per second ... unholy hole in a cream filled donut.

This just ruined my day. Was hopping for a monster that would slaughter the 8800 ultra. Guess we have to wait longer for a high end card

Ima stick with my 8800 GTX OC. This isnt that much better

GIJeff6729d ago

midrange card that will cost less (if they make enough of them) than the 8800gts.

@Gondee: Do you realize that the new 8800GTS 512 gives the same if not a little bit more performance than the 8800GTX and its almost half the price? we are talking here about the next gen of this GeForce cards that are obviously gonna perform better than the overall 8000 series and since this GT is "mid rage" I expect it to be in a very good price and considering the leap in generation a performance equal or better than the 8800 Ultra this taking into account NVIDIAs recent brutal take-no-prisoners push on performance vs price

I've been hearing conflicting reports. Some are calling the 9600 GT the D9P, while others the D9M. D9M sounds more plausible, though, considering this is a mainstream part.

Gr8, my 7950gx2 has been acting up bit lately. Although got me 9816 on 3dmark 06 in yests test but it keeps hanging and crashing. Time to bite the bullet and plunge in for 9 series although i had prepared myself to wait till end of 08.

have a 7950gx2 and am getting just a couple hundred more points than you on 3d mark. If you can, its worth waiting for the 9800gt I'm sure.

oops, i read that as 9310 points...im getting the same points you are :) hurray for us!

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing38d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit38d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing38d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9238d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
