Whenever it's coming, I hope the sequel has more open environments than the first. I want to put that animation and platforming system through its paces.

It's got a honkey premise. It's basicly dude raider. Good gameplay but lame concept.

I mean take away the pirates and add Zombies and you got Resident Evil 5. A game that will sell millions.

But instead you got dude raider. So please think about making the concept cooler.

Spent 9 hrs yesterday on this game and can't wait to go back to it tonight. Anyone w/ a PS3 that doesn't own this game is missing out. Uncharted 2 will be even better. I will say it isn't perfect because some of the white is off, like around the mouth or when in direct sunlight, and some of the platform jumping is weak, but as an overall experience I haven't had a game like this for a while. This is what I'm looking for in a next gen game and the bar has been raised.

Honestly i didnt appreciate Uncharted till i finished it. Now im wishing I didnt rush through it. Best ps3 game ive played. Exactly like a movie.

If they make it on line that would be sick. Think about it. You get one giant pyramid and you have 10 entrances on the outside. 10 players start from different entrances and there's a treasure in the middle somewhere. You all ahve to race to get to it and hold it for 2 minutes. Imagine the mayhem when everyone gets to the centre? That would be how they can incorporate an online feature.

Uncharted was an excellent game, easily the best game on the PS3, and I personally enjoyed it more than Super Mario Galaxy (which was also excellent).

I just hope the can get even better in the graphics department.
I also hope they can keep the storyline just as interesting.

This and Resistance 2 are some of my most anticipated games. I wonder if they would be able to release it during holiday 08'

As much as I love Uncharted, I'd prefer them to do like Insomniac and do a next gen Jak first, then Uncharted 2.

instead of of uncharted. as much as i liked it and i think it's awesome hell, i have 2 copies... i would have really liked to have a next gen JAK. so we'd have them toggle back and forth on uncharted 2 which would release in 09 and have jak Ps3 hit in late 08 which would be awesome ^^ like insomniac with Resistance and ratchet. ^^

the "dude raider" concept started way before Lara Croft and Tomb Raider.

it was a little film from the *EIGHTIES called Raiders of the Lost Ark. maybe you've heard of it?

Lara Croft was often called the "female Indiana Jones," as she was a exotic locale spelunking adventurer.

Nathan Drake has more in common with Indiana than Lara, personality wise.

the gameplay of Uncharted is also *INFINITELY more fast paced and "actiony" than Tomb Raider, and i *LOVE the Tomb Raider games (especially the latest iterations from Crystal Dynamics; they made me love Lara all over again).

pop in Tomb Raider Legends or Anniversary, and play a few levels.

then pop in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and play a few levels.

*COMPLETELY different games.

the only thing they have in common is that it stars a character exploring an exotic location.

Uncharted doesn't have intricate puzzles.

Tomb Raider does.

Uncharted has extreme platforming elements (in the Prince of Persia vein)

Tomb Raider doesn't.

Uncharted has super intense gunfights

Tomb Raider doesn't.

Uncharted takes place on one locale (an island with many different areas, from forts, to waterfalls, to the dense forest)

Tomb Raider takes place over a span of different locations. some exotic, some modern (like cities).

both games are great, but Uncharted gets the edge.

so, looking at the screens of the new Tomb Raider game, is it fair game to say they are "ripping off" Uncharted, because it looks to take place in jungle ruins? *rolls eyes*

look, if there can be eleventy million different war era FPS games (which, for the most part, play *EXACTLY the same), then there can be more than one game about an exotic locale traversing adventurer. it's an underused and under-appreciated theme in games, and i welcome it.

Kind of obvious, but I wished that they would follow Insomniac's lead and make a new Jak game before delving into Uncharted. Hey, this is still a rumor, so they might be working on Jak.

more interactive foliage. Every piece of green ANYTHING Drake clips right on through as if it were his imagination. This is exactly why the fools that say this game matches Crysis are just that...FOOLS.

Let the leaves, bushes, and trees sway and react when you walk through them. With that in mind, open up the levels a little more and add some varying paths. Sneaking through bushes and dodging the villains. You could sneak around some, but it was very limited. Uncharted was a beautiful game, and it was somewhat spacious, but you were still somewhat confined. It was just more cleverly concealed than other games.

Time to put your money where your mouth is and see if this "ten times the amount on our frame buffers" stuff holds any water.

Yes, I still play this from time to time along with UT3 and I can't wait for Uncharted 2 to come out. I wonder where its going to be and what new their going to add to this game.

Wow. If the game flopped like all the "other" people said i doubt Naughty Dog would spend more money on part 2. Oh wait, it didnt flop and is the best game in terms of graphics. The "others" wish they had a game to play like Uncharted on that "other" system.

Uncharted is an easy 25 hours I don't know what that person Lawman is talking about.
Ratchet & Clank was a hella long game over 30 hours I know because I spent last week playing it and I beat it.
Understand there are some parts on that game that are hard especially bosses and once you get down to the Cragmites and the Emperor you'll know what hard is.
If any game is short it would have to be Halo 3 nothing too thrilling but I guess the online play is where it's at.
By next year games will start to get longer in time with gameplay.

Uncharted was awesome from begining to end.
U2 will be a kickass game.
Alson i would also have to say that it was way more fun than anygame i played this year it just kept me coming back until it was beaten.
i still have treasures to find and hard mode etc. to beat but it's so much fun and isn't having fun what games are all about.

And variety within the gameplay. I really want to see a new entry in the Jak series though before the next Uncharted, and it shouldn't take too long since they already have a handle on the PS3's architecture. Jak 2 and Jak 3 for example were each built within a 10-month time frame.

Looks like Nathan Drake will be video games equivalent to Indiana Jones, now!

I'll probaly be getting Uncharted and Haze if its out next month. I spent my money on Mass Effect, Killzone liberation and a 2GB mem stick for my PSP.

--Graphic...the best...Uncharted really set the graphically bar for Next Gen games to compete with.....Gear of War did a great job....But Uncharted...ushered in Next Gen Gaming...

--Sound...great used of Dolby Digital surround sound........

--Nothing revolutionary in terms of gameplay...but it works very very well...

--Play games is all about the experience...and Uncharted is an experience that should be enjoyed by all..................

I just unlocked the slo-mo perk and the naughty dog t-shirt on Uncharted.. so of course I was happy to hear that they already started on Part 2.

This is how you should start working on a Part 2, as soon as Part 1 is done... I loved the game, and can't wait for part 2. I will indeed buy it.

Hope we get more animals (like a lion or a dog) and even more effects in Part 2. Also I would add online multi-player so you can have friends play with you through the levels. That would be amazing like in halo 3.

I need to finish the first one, but Assassin's Creed is taking up all of my gaming time.

cant wait to see how much more nd can do with uc2 its gonna be a great game. see if they can use more then 33% of the cell and see what they can come up with hopefully like 16-20hrs of a story mode and maybe add a feature for downloadable content or something for online so they dont get points knocked off for no online features.

This is the most fun I had playing a video game in a LONG time..

The game didn't seize to amaze me.. Pure fun and Orgasmic visuals from start to finish (when I say finish I mean till credits).

I wish I didn't buy this game yet so I could experience it for the first time again.. I even feel depressed that I finished it

...so I'm glad they're doing an Uncharted 2 next. After Uncharted 2 I'd like to see them do a new IP, and then if PS3 is still hanging around by that point, make Jak 4 for the fans before moving on to PS4.

Everyone should realize that most of these "big" titles (Resistance, Assassin's Creed, and even Lair) start development for part 2 before part 1 is even finished. With the long development times of modern games, the only way they can get a sequel out in a timely fashion is to start early. Most games today take up to 3 years (or longer in some cases) to develop. Very few franchises give their sequels the absolute and proper attention they should get; they would rather cash in while the memory of the game is still fresh (not that any of the games will be bad). To start developing a sequel after you see what happens in the market simply does not make sense. If a game gets any amount of buzz about it, you can guarantee the writers and art designers start working long before the initial finished product reaches our hands.

Anyway, great news about Uncharted 2, but not really that big of news.

add a good multiplayer to the next one. Uncharted one is easily the most fun I've had playing a single player shooter in a long long time. IT's just an awesome game. Adding multi would make the replay value shoot through the roof and make the game a 10 in my book.

how would you add multi player to uncharted ive been scrathing my head over and over and still cant see how they could do that. to me would have to change they game totally to like a fps game and i say no to that its pecfect as a 3rd person game

Absolutely a big impact on PlayStation but I'd say leadership is the key factor. When leadership changes so does the studio. Leadership is so important for the counties success of a developer.

It was such a well made game, you could tell how much love was poured into it.

Such a shame Amy Hennig got forced out and never got to be there when Nathan Drakes story ended.

One of the best ps3 games of all time imo. The adventure I felt in that game is still one of the best I've ever played. They did amazing with MP as well, god I miss it.

U2 set the standard for PS exclusives, and a standard for how stories were told in SP games in general. The seamless transitions from gameplay to cutscenes, fancier camera work, cinematic feel in in-game set pieces, organic voice acting/line delivery. Devs can deny it all they want but everybody was trying to be U2 after it's release. I prefer it over U4 even cause it's a much more straight forward game in its genre.

Final fantasy 7

From the very start the train sequence was wow… one of the best most memorable opening i can recall.

I love UC2, beat it many times on PS3, and beat it once for PS4, played tons of multiplayer as well. Most important? I wouldn't agree. A game that cemented the entirety of the PlayStation branding against its competition, not just a single company, would be more important.

Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo. Or if you want to count GTA III since it was a temporary exclusive and propelled PS2 hardware sales beyond what anyone could have ever imagined. After a single year on the market, PS2 took over nearly the entire console marketshare to itself.

i havent played 1,2,3 been a later bloomer only played thiefs end and lost legacy am i missing out

Absolutely is. It made uncharted 1 look so mediocre. It also set a bar so high, not just for gaming, but for Action Adventure games. I played the MP religiously and made some amazing friends through it. I especially loved mercing the ND devs.

Hopefully ND comes back swinging with the next game release. They sure know how to make quality storytelling
