Why Mass Effect 3 haters need to calm down

Daniel Starkey, Destructoid- "I realize that expecting reasoned discourse from the internet is a tall order, but the reaction to the Mass Effect 3 ending is beyond absurd. It transcends rationality and tips over into the positively juvenile. This is meant to be a counter to many fan complaints. I don’t have a response for all of them, but I definitely have some ammunition of my own. Let’s do this. MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT."

Know what needs to calm down.

These damn articles!

Boody-Bandit5193d ago

It's article like this as to why the industry is only going to get worse. We need the media to take a stance against this, not defend them.

wollie5193d ago

I stopped reading at:

"In terms of the scope of the original works, it dwarfs Star Wars and Lord of the Rings combined."

What an absolutely idiotic article. I wish I could wash my brain of its stupidity.

SilentNegotiator5193d ago

Anyone who believes that should have every piece of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings official books, movies, etc dumped on their heads. They will be killed by the weight. Instantly. If they live, the 3 Mass Effect games should promptly be thrown at the offender's face, for comparison.

Pintheshadows5193d ago (Edited 5193d ago )

You didn't miss much after that. He doesn't really have any of that ammunition he refers to. Well, maybe he does but it's waterballoons rather than bullets.

Again, another defence article that just flat out ignores the plotholes and crazy logic. In fact the author seems to be struggling to understand the ending himself but is trying to defend it at the same time.

These articles are getting old.
One journalist, or even ten won't change what thousands of people think. And maybe they should be addressing that. I know in terms of sales it seems like the minority but this dwarfs the previous precedents set.

And for that many people to voice negative concerns shows that something is clearly wrong.

Snowb4205193d ago

I think at this point there has been more "articles" like this defending the game then there has been attacking it. I personally disliked the ending for one reason, how did most of what happened, happen? All I want from Bioware is an "extended" ending filling in the blanks.

Cupid_Viper_35193d ago

I here you on the point about rticles from the media defending such practices from publishers and game makers. It seems as if they completely forgot what their job require of them. You're supposed to report the facts expose it the little guys, us. because although you may think that it's the corporations paying your bill, they're only in existence because of us consumers, and you're supposed to watch out for us.
There's an article that talks about about that http://www.rights4gamers.co...

As far as changing the ending, it's hard for me to be onboard 100%, it seems like they've messed up, and it was intentional as opposed to accidental. So I think a boycott of the game would do more good for the industry as a whole as far a message goes.

SilentNegotiator5193d ago (Edited 5193d ago )

Online passes, poor ending to STORY and CHOICE driven game, lies from EA/EA subsidiary, false advertisement, less RPG elements, platform favoritism with transparent explanation, day one disc locked content.....

TEH HATERRRRRzz!!! lol

Shut up already, fanboys. The list of legitimate complaints against Mass Effect 3 is massive and EA/Bioware will probably only find new ways to make it worse over time.

ziggurcat5193d ago

"legitimate complaints"?

*snort*

good one.

SilentNegotiator5193d ago (Edited 5193d ago )

Snorting something, eh?

Thanks for the convincing counter argument. I respect your disrespectfully presented view.

ziggurcat5193d ago

@ silentnegotiator:

first of all: there's been no false advertisement, nor has EA lied about the game.

secondly: there's no day one disc-locked content. a character model does not mean that the day one DLC was already on the disc.

thirdly: online passes aren't new. welcome to 2 years go.

fourthly: bioware didn't make any promises about how the game was going to end.

the only legitimate complaint anyone can make about a game is if it's an absolutely broken piece of garbage *cough*skyrim*cough*. your opinion on how the game should have ended and the misinterpretation of what the devs/EA said about the game, your misinformed opinion about there being disc-locked content, the fact that online passes aren't going to affect you if you buy the game new aren't legitimate complaints.

the one thing i can't argue with is the console favouritism, and to be honest - i've been arguing for years now that bioware should just stop making PS3 games because they've managed to **** up every single game they've made on that system. in fact, i've stopped supporting bioware altogether since the release of dragon age: origins because of their ineptitude on the PS3.

so yeah... good one.

SilentNegotiator5192d ago

None of what you just said is remotely true.

"there's been no false advertisement, nor has EA lied about the game"
-
They said that your choices would have effects on the ending. They do not.

"there's no day one disc-locked content. a character model does not mean that the day one DLC was already on the disc"
-
Everything but some of the one mission data is on disc for that DLC. On the PC version, changing ONE LINE OF CODE can allow you to unlock the character, and that character has all of the data he needs to do things outside of that one mission.

"online passes aren't new. welcome to 2 years go"
-
Precedence is not an eliminator of sin.

"bioware didn't make any promises about how the game was going to end"
-
Again, yes they did. In interviews they said choices would have a great effect on the end.

Rolento5193d ago

Mass Effect is garbage in general. How could you not expect a terrible ending when even the first game sucked?

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine545d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast545d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman545d ago
