
GameSpy - There's been a lot of talk lately about changing a game's ending after the fact. Regardless of how you feel about Mass Effect 3's final moments, the debate raises an interesting question about fiction in general, and whether endings should be set in stone or changed on a whim. Outside of a DVD/Blu-ray director's cut (the film industry's equivalent of a game-of-the-year DLC bundle) changing an ending in any medium is rare, but not unprecedented. Here are three examples of revised endings in PC gaming history.

I will not be buying ME3 due to what I have read about the ending. I also understand I should play the game before passing judgement, but I can do something that other fans unfortunately cannot.

I am a huge fan of the ME series and it kills me to forgo this game. However, endings matter enough to me to pass on it. An ending like what is being talked about is a travesty. I wonder what other games might have been like if their endings were like ME3.
