Uh, Muddy is correct, Microsoft would NEVER allow this. Simply put since Minecraft isn't a Microsoft Studio game, they wont allow the servers to be handled otherwise. That being said I highly doubt that would be a feature.

Hell if they didn't allow Portal 2 to do it, why would they do it with a XBLA game such as Minecraft.

It's probably not true, but it'd be nice. It would be a great step in the right direction for Microsoft, whom I feel is far too strict with things like this.

never understood the appeal of this game, if it had proper architectural objects it would be fun but square blocks is boring.

I believe a lot of server mods would still work because they aren't exactly mods but more or less server side plugins. Server side means that everything for the mod occurs on the actual server and nothing is done on the PC or Xbox therefore there needs to be no downloads onto the device or alterations to the code because it is all there already. And Plugins don't add anything like new items or textures it just uses everything already in the game. The only difference would be if the server was using actual mods like a lot of Source games, but currently minecraft doesn't have a proper mod API to install mods automatically or from a server instead you need to install it manually into the .jar. Due to that hassle most servers only use plugins. So yes server plugins should be supported.

The only issue with the plugins though is that minecraft on PC uses Java and the 360 version uses either C# or some other C language, that may cause an issue.

I really wish Mojang would make a proper api with something like C++ or any native language. But the only issue would be running it on mac linux and windows easily. But the Benefits would be much much better performance everywhere.

I would also include CS and Fortnite players in this category too

My kids would only play Minecraft when they were younger. Roblox is banned in our house. Now thay they are not so little they are delving into single player and co/op games.
