Nooooo, don't put Blazblue as a picture for a title articled "How fighting games fail"! D:

That is the game that got me into fighting games right there, still my favorite fighting series! Well, I always loved Mortal Kombat, but that's beside the point, who doesn't love old school MK?

BlazBlue is a failure of a fighting game though. They should've made another Guilty Gear like people wanted instead of making this garbage.

Not to mention BlazBlue had the lowest amount of signups at EVO last year (which is why it won't be back along with the next lowest amount of signups which was the failure known as Tekken 6).

I don't give a damn about EVO lol. At least Blazblue has a story to it, and I've made quite a few actual friends from online battles on that game. Please don't call it a failure of a fighter, as that's your opinion. To me, it opened the door to the fighting game genre which I had no interest in whatsoever. It's got beautiful 2D art, wonderful music by one of my favorite guitarists, an amazingly complex story, and it's fast paced. Not much else I could ask for... :\

What really ruins Blazblue is the online community. People use the same crappy moves over and over, and never change up. They use cheap techniques to get insta-wins and rage quit when you're doing well. So honestly, it's not the game's fault for crappy players like that.

Blazblue was sucessful outside of tournament play. If you didn't play online or have a bunch of friends to play with, you actually had something to do with the single player and a great story.

You compare that to the awful single player of Capcom games or even Soul Calibur 5 and Blazblue is a hugely successful game.

I honestly thought with MK's success, other developers like Capcom and Namco would take note of just how great the single player of that game was but nope, SC5 has a sort of okay story told in a really lame fashion and SxT has the worst story I've ever seen in a fighting game.

Evo is mainly a capcom event and its games are the easist to play.

2d was is a coma 3d games have been coming at its normal rate

Since when did fighting games ever die?

You mean in the decade when the most popular fighting game in history launched? smash bros?

"Fighting games fail" is an oxymoron imo. Author did bring up some good points though. I especially agree that more fighting games need to have good stories/SP campaigns.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing44d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9244d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit44d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing44d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9243d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
