So I'm not allowed to have preferences, likes, and dislikes when it comes to games?

ME2 was a letdown in many ways for me. ME3 is more of a step in the wrong direction. Why am I not allowed to be dissatisfied?

Props to all the people who love ME3. Enjoy your game. I'm fine with that, but can these Bioware fanboys accept the fact that not everyone likes Bioware's new direction?

I suppose that was a woefully uninformative comment. I should clarify. I feel a lot of gamers attack things about a game besides the game. Your opnion on the ACTUAL game, so as long as their is reason, is totally valid. But people are calling ME3 trash because there is some dlc, that isn't even great or because there is a gay sex scene. The littlest thing can set some gamers off from buying a game to hating anything a company makes.

No, the real issue is the game itself and the fact that many people are now willing to admit what it is and what it is not. Some of us played all three but never kidded ourselves about the truth.

Do you know the main strength of Mass Effect? Uniqueness. Not to be confused with greatness. It is the only game of it's kind. Where there other science fiction shooters with a ship, solar systems, and ground missions you would see the game treated less kindly.

I picked up the CE and have to say I am even more disappointed than I was with ME2. Starting with character import my Shepard looked horrendous. I thought Bioware had signed a deal with DC Comics and now my character was Bizarro Shepard. Maybe they should concentrate less on Kingdoms of Amalur crossovers to generate sales and more on the damn game functionality.

There are more issues of character skipping, dropped animations, buggy scenes with failed DOF usage and characters clipped into and stuck to the scenery. It's absurd this is a 10. ME3 is the poster child for a free ride. Bear in mind for me no game has ever cracked the 9 mark.

But this is the result when websites and publications have no standards and an editor with no policy who is unwilling to insure that reviews are standardized. It allows an adolescent with a writing outlet to award any score without regard to principle or enforced benchmark.

For all of the talk about people at Metacritic attacking ME3 they do little to counter the absurd, out of control scores by review sites without a shred of legitimate evaluation standards.

Then I am dismayed that a great deal of the graphics look worse than ME2. It's as if developing on all three platforms left no time for optimization.

RPG elements were gutted even further than in ME2. I think when CD Project licensed the Aurora Engine for the first Witcher they also took Bioware's role playing sense as well.

Although some of the weapons handling is a great step up, Bioware insists on the "Play it our way or die" game design.

Never mind all of the small incongruities like the fact the Normandy comes out of a Hyperspace jump in system and a myriad of other issues, I am too busy dealing with recycled animations and the fact that Bioware has no concept of Motion Capture. Men and women simply have different skeletal structures and seeing the same animations for both is just annoying. Not to mention lazy game development.

This is the sort of thing for which MW3 was rightfully slammed yet some of the same people insist on giving Bioware a free ride.

When you set out to make an over the top blockbuster money machine you get a game that feels forced. It is as if their only goal was to be the Michael Bay of game design. And what they have done actually insults Michael Bay. Wooden performances with V/O actors based on marketing is an absurd manner in which to do business. Jennifer Hale is the sole redeeming talent.

I hear a lot of gripes with the ending and that the game feels like it lost its direction, dedicated Mass Effect fans have every right to give flak for what they find fault in. I also know of many people that loved the game, but I can't stand the idea that gamers cannot complain or criticize something they bought. If a lot of gamers seem to find fault in the same thing then it's not like they are complaining about nothing

*Day one DLC that has been proven over and over again to have had plenty of time to be put on Disc (and new evidence suggest that part of it might even be so)

Im with you dedicatedtogamers! I just finished ME3 and I have to say the ending was a right slap in the face to all the players who have been playing since ME1, like myself.

I still enjoyed the game but I just felt as if it could of been something bigger and grander than it was.

So if someone is a fan of BioWare games, they buy ME3, they play it, they love it, they feel the negativity is undeserved and speak up and defend the game they enjoyed - that makes them wrong?

Yet it is okay to not actually play the game, but leave 0 score reviews about a game that you have not even touched, because you are bitter about DLC, homosexuality, or whatever?

It is one thing to say that you don't agree with BioWare's business practice, and you won't be buying the game. It is another to bring your anger, homophobia, or what have you online and act like spoiled bitter children or complete madmen. Believe me when you take this approach it does not make Mass Effect 3 look bad, it makes YOU look bad.

Wouldn't it just be smarter, and more mature, to say to yourself, this game isn't for me, I am going to pass and use my money to buy something that I will enjoy. If you want BioWare to know the reason for your decision, perhaps the best way to get them to listen would be to write an intelligent, rational, and respectful letter to them pointing out the reason for your disappointment. If you have good, rational reasons, perhaps they might even take you serious.

Well, I guess that makes me a BioWare fanboy, but you know what? I am okay with that. I don't think that everything that BioWare does is right, and their Day1 DLC is a bit unacceptable in my book, but I would rather stand on the side that supports the game company that has brought me so much joy as opposed to the side that acts slightly crazy everytime a game developer does not bow down and bend to their every wish.

Someone wanna explain to me how there are LESS RPG elements than in 2? They fixed the dumbed down skill trees, added more weapons and loot...I really dont see how this has less RPG elements than in 2.

Also, take note that some people aren't total nazi's about bugs or graphical differences. The bugs have not been game breaking in any way for me. They have proven to be nothing more than slight distractions in an otherwise great game. If those small glitches and such seriously take that much away from the game for you, I honestly feel bad.

Yes, people are looking the wrong directions on occasion in conversations, sometimes people get a little hung up on the environment and maybe some of the animations are recycled. For me, that elicits nothing more than a shrug of the shoulder because Im too busy enjoying myself. I also noticed someone knocked the game for having similar animations for male and female characters, something that has always been present in Mass Effect, why is this all of the sudden a problem?

As for someone saying the graphics look worse than they did in 2, I really dont see it. Oh, and for people to yell and scream about male homosexuality being included in the game...seriously? It disgusts me that people cheer for two females to hook up in the context of a story and then when Bioware finally decides to handle the topic of male homosexuality, the game gets bashed. It just comes off as sexist, perverted, simple mindedness.

Completely agree. I don't see how people believe there are LESS rpg options in this game. I'm seeing more, the more I play, and it has quite a bit more rpg options than Mass Effect 2. It has a little less dialogue options than me2, but that isn't the only thing that makes mass effect an rpg (plus the dialogue options didn't really have any big effects on the story in me2, so it's not like it matters that much).

This game so far is pretty much better all around than Mass Effect 2. The story is better, the gameplay is better, the missions are better, the graphics are slightly better (though that doesn't really matter all that much to me), the only thing that I can think of that ME3 does worse than ME2, is that me2 had better squad mates.

Honestly, if people hate the game as much as morganfell, then they were just looking for things to complain about before they even played the game, because the majority of stuff he listed is just nitpicky bullcrap. Recycled animations? Seriously? That's one of your big complaints? There are only so many ways a character can walk or run. There's a lot of content in the game so far, it's looking to be even more than Mass Effect 2, so if having the same acceptable animations from me2 was the result of them adding more content instead of doing unnecesary motion capture or newer animations, then I'm glad they didn't waste the time on that crap, because the animations are fine as they are.

Also I haven't experienced any of the bugs that morganfell had. The most I've experienced is a few game freezes while going in a citadel elevator, but that's it.

That whole idiotic "michael bay design" comment makes me think you've only played the demo. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you did, and are just basing all your criticisms off of that.

And I'm not even a bioware fanboy, I thought Mass Effect 2 was a disappointment compared to the first. Sure, there are a few disappointments in ME3, but the amount of improvements they've made far outweigh the negatives.

Oh well, b*tch and nitpick tiny issues like little crybabies all you want, I'm enjoying the hell out of this game, and so are a lot of others. The N4G folk tend to LOVE to hate the popular game of the moment, especially if it's not a ps3 exclusive (I bought the CE on ps3 by the way, so no, I'm not a 360 fanboy either, sorry) so I tend to take the fact that the majority of n4g folk disagreeing with me as a very good thing, as this site is full of children, seamlessly hopping on one hate bandwagon to the next, just because everyone else is.

Completely agree my friend. I have yet to complete Mass Effect 3 I am enjoying it greatly. I see no major gameplay differences from Mass Effect 2 I see more rpg elements than I did in 2.

This website has some of the worst trash on it. Thought there are some links to some good articles sometimes and good comments, but for the most part I ignore the comments section.

My hate is the damn ending feel like i wasted my 33 hours for that POS ending. I'm not as mad as most people about the Tali thing but it was pretty damn lazy of Bioware. The DLC was really cut from the final game hell the character talks to you like everybody else. Then again Bioware did this same shit with DAO and ME2.

The series went from a 9/10 to 6/10 because of that lazy ending.

Well Bioware did a good job on SWTOR for their first MMORPG. All three Mass Effect games have critical acclaim and Mass Effect 2 won many GOTY awards in 2010. Sure they removed rpg elements that I don't believe they should have but as a standalone package, I believe all three games delivered. DA2 was the only game this gen that was a let-down from Bioware imo but DA1 was one of the best rpg games I've ever played. I do think they're developing too many games at once and EA is certainly having a negative effect but I still think people just like to whine and bitch for the sake of it.

I don't get it personally. Over the years I've played nearly every major game and franchise and have yet to really feel "cheated" or "disappointed" with a game developer / publisher. Some may just say that I'm easily pleased, which may be the case, but I think more-so that people expect too much. Maybe it's because I don't read every preview and review. So when I get a game I don't know what to expect and usually I'm pretty satisfied.

The same could be said about movies. I hear tons of people go again and again to the movies and come away disappointed. I don't even waste my time. Then there are times where I'm really interested in a movie (John Carter) but I don't know much about it. Turns out it's a great movie despite what others are taking at face value.

Not really sure the point of this comment other than maybe people expect too much. There were never so many complaints back in the day when everyone was in the dark waiting for the game to release, or waiting for a magazine to post their review. Hm, maybe publishers need to stop making so many claims as well..

I fully agree with you on this. I feel many people overly expect something and then when it doesn't meet up to their hype, then they feel cheated. I personally loved Mass Effect 3, and yes, maybe it is because I am easily pleased. Or maybe it is because I didn't really "care" about it until about 2 hours before it came out when I put in my Origin preorder.

I didn't hype it up, I wanted it because of the story and to be honest, I felt it ended as it should have. It explained some mysteries and to me, it felt like it had closure. I don't know, I feel with how the internet has become, it is much easier to generate hype (and over-generate for that matter). This is why I will watch one or two trailers then leave it at that, no previews, no reviews, nothing. I go in expecting virtually nothing.

I hate ME3 because I didn't really like ME2 and I think the franchise has too many problems to be received the way it is. I have played many RPGs with better stories and gameplay. The controls are too clunky and level progress is crap.

The story is very boring and it just drags on for ages even though all you want to do is just play the dam game. Dialogue choices also take away from story.

Gameplay is also very repetitive. Like Assasins Creed 1 repetitive. It consists of boring dialogue, then cover and shoot, more boring dialogue, then more cover and shoot, boring dialogue again, boss fight, last bit of dialogue and back to your ship to try and have sex with your female crew members.

Oh no wait theres also mining. Lets send probes into planets and mine the dozens of planets in the galaxy for upgrade material and lets build a relationship with your crew members so you can get special abilities and upgrades.

The game is average at best. I know people love the series and I honestly don't see why but I've been playing RPGs for 15 years and I would never call ME an RPG

I just have to add the most fun I had in ME2 was trying to fuck marian and that bitch didn't even show her titties.

What pissed me the most about the game:
- story was interesting, but with a sh*tty ending.
- First day DLC... that's just robbery.
- Take away the story, and it's basically just a run and gun game from start to finish. You go from point A to point B and kill every enemy that's in between. Repetitive game-play.

its weird how everyone is hating on a game that is really good. I mean i didn't finish it yet but i am really enjoying it but then again i already came to the conclusion nothing beat ME1. In ME1 you went from a nobody to a hero and it felt good, here you are already well known. There are a few issues with the game when it comes to characters glitching when you talk to them or walking around the citadel and getting weird animations when you bump into stuff, things i didn't see until EA put their hand in the pot. The Multiplayer is pretty sweet to be honest, its a lot of fun and i haven't had many glitches in there, it was actually well done.

My issues is that everyone is saying how this is bad, and that is bad. When i played ME2 i had Katsumi and that tough soldier downloaded before i started the game (i didn't play it at launch) and that was DLC, also the DLC in this game comes free with the N7 Collectors edition, plus you get a few extras. the extra $20 is worth it, since the DLC is $10. Its everyone who is too cheap to pay thats complaining really. I mean $79 is cheap for a collectors edition when most others start at $89 and some games start at $69 new for standard edition!

My biggest Gripe with the so called 'fans' is that BIOWARE did listen, they are just HATING FOR THE SAKE OF HATING. These people really need to enjoy games and not get their panties in a bunch all the time. I mean in ME2 a lot of people complained that the CITADEL was too small and lacking (even i was disappointed how small it was) but it did make sense because you weren't Alliance anymore but in ME3 its fixed and all the little side quests are in there and they are quite informative. Also i see people saying that the choices you made before didn't really have an effect. I see my choices all the time. I am even tempted to play through the game (if there is a choice maker like ME2) and have all my game friends die so i can see what the story is like. i mean Wrex is a big part of the story and Grunt shows up too. At first i though it Wrex wasn't there then it would be grunt, but he shows up somewhere else and what if he was dead? thats a lot of scenarios that bioware had to cover and i think they did a good job reflecting my decisions.so i don't know why everyone is so upset.

and the GAY thing. i mean really its 2012, what kind of rock do you live under. People are gay its a FACT. to each their own, if you don't like it you don't have to talk to those characters. I mean i know ASARI are just 1 gender but technically since ME1 female on female was okay, just male one male is a big no no. I'm not gay but i say, if you wanna kiss a guy, no nuts. If you don't then Don't. This game is about decisions.

I'm enjoying the game thus far, so I can't really provide an overall impression of the game just yet.

I can however comment on Jessica Chobot's voice acting, which is one of the worst cases of fanboy pandering in the history of gaming. Without needing to mention the fact that her character seems overtly pointless, her voice acting is also atrociously wooden.

It was so awkward. It had the stink of EA pressure all over it. It amazes me that ME3, from what I've played, is as good as it is. EA has definitely had their hand in Bioware's junk from a design perspective, but the game still feels undeniable mass effect.

The Mass Effect series is definitely in my top 3 as far as new IP's this generation is concerned.

That being said, EA's buying of Bioware has been a bad thing, they are going in a different direction and I almost call ME3 Gears Of Effect, because its so much like Gears Of War in the way it looks and plays now.

ME1 is obviously still the best game in that series, but I like all of them in one way or another.

I mean its set around our world initially, 180 or so years later. No doubt homosexuality would advance.

I like the game, but that doesn't mean I don't have plenty of complaints.

I haven't seen too many glitches, mainly just talking to invisible people and sometimes characters floating around or missing body parts.

My problem with the whole ME series is that so many of the things you do are ridiculous. Basically when the fate of the galaxy is resting in your hands are you really going to waste time on so many silly fetch quests? ME2 was even worse in this regard because of the petty reasons for some of the missions. It often feels like the video below

You just need to add in the occasional gun fight and an attack by giant robot cockroaches :)

And then there is the issue with money and resources. Shepard is supposed the be the last hope for humanity and the galaxy but you need to gather space garbage, go rock hunting and do errands just to get the resource you need.

The first point is so utterly ridiculous. Did they all of a sudden forget ME1's Liara Romance or where they to busy getting excited by woman on woman action. The romances in the game are optional and you can choose to ignore the gay guy if you want to.

There are lots of reason to hate ME3, but if it because you have a choice to start a gay relationship, then you are an idiot.

After 7 hours, I definitely have to take back my hate for BioWare for the game (the DLC is another issue) because I've spent the majority of that time ROLE PLAYING. Without gun in hand, actually exploring. Even the Citadel is more open and the planets I've landed on have been less linear, or at least give the impression they aren't as linear.

I really didn't like ME2 to the degree some people did, it was about 10 steps towards TPS, and ME1 will always be my favourite of the series... but ME3 is, at least, one or two of those steps back.

I just didn't like the demo, I never like the demos for Mass Effect. The voice acting is a little uninspired, the motion capture is a little robotc, and the gameplay is clunky. They didn't really fix this in ME3, but I learned to like Mass Effect and ME2 after time, there's some good set peices and moments in the game.

Remember every single "great game" can get trashed by someone. It doesn't matter if it is Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy (especially early versions) uncharted or halo. This game or series is not unlike all of those games. It's just easier to see all the opinions people have because Internet sites like n4g. Personally this game deserves a 10 . The story in this trilogy is above and beyond almost any in the gaming world. That alone is worth a few points. It is interesting to see what people disliked about the game though.

I'll grab ME3 when its $20 or less. Like I did ME2. I enjoyed 2, but for the life of me, can't understand the circle jerking over this series. Is it neat? I guess. Most things involving space and alien Star Trek type shit usually are, but this (so far) isn't the best RPG series I've played, let alone shooter.

It's a completely different direction from the previous Mass Effect games; Less choices, less Paragon/renegade options and yes the game is a little more Linear. But I think it worked great, I loved everything about the game except it's ending.
But being so different from the previous games I can understand people complaining. But complaining about petty things such as being able to romance a character is absurd.

ME3 is a bland and overdone sequence of linear,repetitive shooting to narrative with dialogue choices to shooting.It looks average,runs average and plays average.
It receives near perfect scores from most major sites.Fueled by hype and exaggerated review scores it screams 'I can be average and sell millions and so can you'.It is a shame what the mainstream dub 'masterpieces',when in fact only a few fragments of mastery are to be found within.
We will come to regret this type of blind hysteria if not already.
I don't 'hate' the ME series but if one game is the example overrated,this is it.

I do hate the notion that they put in someone from the game industry. Still plan on getting the game after an honest price drop or two, but I really *HATE* that they tacked in someone from the real world.

A Make a Wish kid or something in relation to a contest, but site personality because they're friendly to Bioware/EA is just F***ing insulting.

terrible ending, seeing all the choices I made in the games mean nothing, dlc that is on the disc, and the fact that is even less than a rpg than mass effect 2 (and that only had rpg elements in it, it was not an rpg). I think my disappointment has been validated.

Haven't played it yet, but a similar trend keeps popping up. Is the ending really that bad. Is it out of the player's control to an extent. Is Chobot's performance that bad honestly?

Chobot is bad... I don't know what the deal is or why someone thought this was a good idea but you can tell she's not a professional voice actor. This isn't the technical issue where's there's an awkward pause between lines, it's that she delivers each line with so much enthusiasm, it just sounds ridiculous and something with the audio quality or fidelity is off, like it was added after the game was finished and they'd finished everyone else's lines.

Chobot seems to have been added for fanservice reasons only...which is pretty sad IMO. Maybe I'm alone in this but I hate the idea that the developers have added a character like Chobot who obviously only exists to look pretty and appeal to us sexually. Do the devs think we're morons? That we won't buy their game unless they advertise a pair of tits in it??

The character is totally pointless and Chobot herself is obviously not a real voice actress. She delivers the lines so woodenly and dull. Her character doesn't really need to exist and a much more deserving voice actress could have gotten that role instead. So sad!

The technical difficulties, the weird voice work at times along with crazy dialogue. The almost odd push for DLC at the end, the ending itself. Wonky combat, they made a shooter and it still plays like crap at times. The lack of real choice for a game that was supposed to be the epitome of it.

The people who love the game seem to be those who would eat BioWare's crap if it was DLC and just about every reviewer.

I bought this on the 360 and have seen only 1 game bug where the faces were turned. I have seen nothing else. Maybe I'm enjoying the game to much but its fantastic. I'm about 20 hrs in and am enjoying it more then 2. I love all the extra rpg moments and I can spend hours tinkering with he armor and guns alone. I didn't like the idea of the day 1 dlc but since I was unable to get the ce I purchased it and I don't regret it as the prothean is one of my most used characters. This game is far better then the last 1 as,its more open and plenty of customizing. Its my opinion but this game is a 9.5 in my book so far.

Sadly, you just cant win with reviews and negative opinions with successful franchises. If ME3 didnt change up many things, it would have been heavily critized as being stale and uninspired.

I bet most of the negative folks here are the same types that if they won the lottery, they would whine about paying taxes on it instead of how great it is to have so much money. Just the nature of alot of folks to be so cynical.

Il be honest i was looking forward to this game true ME2 was more casualized and streamlined then ME3 but i still liked it and was still waiting ME3 now what broke the camels back and drove me to not even buy this game?

Where to begin for starters it keeps ME2's lobotomized leveling up system which is the last instance of any "RPG" in it on top of that they included some bulking meat head jersey shore wannabe into the crew and in addition gave ashley facial reconstructive surgery so she doesn't even look like the same person.

On top of that we have day one DLC YES THATS RIGHT day one DLC. The DLC of course contains a prothean character you know the characters that were supposedly genocided in ME1? Then apparently turned into collectors in ME2 who were then all wiped out now apparently there is one left and for the first time you can have a prothean squadmate... OH one last thing he costs 9.99 on day of release so pay up. Then they tried to excuse the DLC by stating they had recently begun work on it and it was finished late. Gee bioware then explain why we knew of him in early 2011.

In addition to that they break the camels back, legs, and any other bone this poor animal may have with the ending. The ending which *SPOILERS* is a travesty wraps up this beloved franchise by revealing how the kid from the demo/beginning was the crucible AKA controller of the reapers and how the reapers exist to exterminate organic life so they do not create synthetic life which will then rebel and destroy all organic life.

SO basically the reapers kill us so we don't kill ourselves and if that isn't the most moronic plot you ever heard the end wraps up with a kid being told this game as though its a story and ends with "papa shepard tell me another story" and "papa shepard" then saying "its getting late but ok one more" which basically implies that
A. This whole thing was a story which in that case i swear off bioware products forever or that
B. The ending was trying to wave their upcoming MMO in peoples faces which in that case i swear off bioware products forever.

Then we have player choices. The choices in the game are gathered from ME1 and ME2 to culminate and finally reveal what consequences these choices will have in the final battle against reapers. They however have proceeded to royally screw that up by ignoring half the choices in ME1 and ME2. Rachni exterminated? Doesn't matter theres some behind the orange juice in the great big galaxy fridge. Destroyed or kept the collector base? Bah who cares that wasn't important infact it was so unimportant we won't even talk about it at all.

In addition to all these games short comings we get an Ashley that looks like a bimbo jersey shore cast member along with that whore chobot and the homo hench typical marine stereotype idiot called Vega.

Then we have the multiplayer mode. To those saying it is tacked on i can completely say yes it is tacked on. This multiplayer mode is nothing but horde mode from gears of war, Killing floor has a shop mid wave which you can use to buy new weapons since you start out with a pistol to begin with. This game on the other hand has nothing new or original in the multiplayer. The only reason i can fathom even having a multiplayer mode is to attract some of the call of duty kiddies to play it. Except they fail to see that people who play COD will never play a game like Mass Effect 3. Thats about it for my review of this waste of money.

Yup its official after DA2, TOR and now ME3 the beloved bioware is dead. I will never buy a bioware game blindly only after deep deep inspection.

I kinda skipped around after your spoiler tag, since i didn't see an "end spoiler" make sure to put those next time.. Helps the reader.

Now.. Seems to me plenty of people are saying that its less rpg than even 2, feels even more pew pew bang bang, then talk to a little and more pew pew pew... I understand its a galactic war and shit, but with you saying that this is the last straw... I'm pretty worried, I'll be getting this game in 2 weeks hopefully, i don't have the cash right now, and I for one was never too excited or hyped with ME3, I'm holding my breath and I'm hoping to see how the whole trilogy turns out.

But if what you say and what the recurring trend seems to be that the ending says fuck you and your decisions from the past 2 games... then I'm going to be massively dissapointed.. Ever since DA:II i've been holding my breath on BioWare. I don't play MMOs so I don't know about TOR.

Anyways, i'll still buy this game, but people saying that ME is still the best out of the three.. This is deeply deeply disappointing.

I am about 9 hours in and enjoying the game. But what I am gathering from some of the complaints. ME3 is centered on a large battle in motion. While gathering support from others to join the fight. With that, there may seem to be more action going on because of this theme. Therefore, maybe it seems to down play the RPG element or other? But maybe each game of the series was meant to fit a certain theme. A theme set out to separate each other (ME3/ Large battle to save Earth - Shooter/ RPG elements). Do we want a clone of the last game or first game theme?

But I would have to admit, somethings added like multiplayer and other add on social type subjects seem to reveal that they are trying to hard to market their product to be like all the rest of the games out there that seem to be "popular". This shows lack of confidence in their product?

Do to the time spent developing the multiplayer experience. You expect to run the chance of down playing the single player experience. BioWare (EA) tried to bring balance between the two. But I think we have already experienced the negative effect on what happens when you do. This has been happening for so long that we cannot tell the difference anymore when something is nearly balanced?

I just finished the campaign and I have to admit I enjoyed it immensely. It was a worthy conclusion to a great series and in my own humble opinion, the best game of the three. I won't elaborate on the good things and why I think this is the best Mass Effect experience for me (since clearly this is the HATE section), so let me just state the one negative thing (if one can call it that) in terms of the story - the endings.

It pretty much resembled Deus Ex: Human Revolution on a much grander scale and inevitably, inherited the same problem everyone had with that game as well. Why make it so streamlined and give the player the option to choose how the story should unfold, VIA A FREAKING "PICK ONE" SYSTEM, is beyond me. Why all the sacrifices, urgency and implementation on Paragon / Renegade (moral choice) system? What was the whole purpose of making you feel the weight of your decision when in the end, all your playstyle could be altered via a single direction?

But that's not the greatest sin in my book. I really do miss simplicity, especially in a sci-fi universe such as Mass Effect. Why do writers always tend to explain events with some "greater power" and "cycle of life" (order and chaos) when things could be settled without explaining everything so it becomes just pointless in the end? Why couldn't have we just killed off the Reapers and save the galaxy or outright lose the fight? Instead, we get the "prophesy fullfiled" type of bullshit every movie and book's been filled with in the last couple of decades. A missed opportunity. And that's saying it mildly.

Your right the game does end like Human Revolution which is disapointing, cause its like the past Mass Effect games really don't matter at all. The Journey is what I got out of Mass Effect that made it a great series. Just a little mad about the endings. Well there is always the Witcher series with many possible endings. Xbox gamers will not be disappointed. Got Witcher 2 on PC. Bioware will probably make DLC endings to correct there mistakes, like what happen to Fallout 3.

Because for a RPG that brags freedom of choice, I can't choose what I want to do it the game. Loading the game voids what I wanted to do with my character, Bioware, you do not play like an RPG and you are not an RPG even by your definition of making decisions.

I've got mixed feelings about the game...

*chobot: totally ruined the immersion for me. Not so much the voice acting, just the fact that I have to see her damned face.

*male shep voice acting: not horrible in my opinion. I've heard so much worse. And it's not like they can change the voice actor three games in. One of those things you have to get over...

*too much action: even in the first game a good portion of the game is spent shooting etc. I'm all for them improving the shooting mechanics and building on that aspect of the game, which they did. If its going to have TPS gameplay make it as good as you can. I thought they did good and love the improvements. ( in regards to the comment that compared it to gears: so what? Gears has amazing third person mechanics)

*not enough rpg: I totally agree. The attachments don't make up for the in-depth armor and weapon customization from the first game. They shouldn't have lost that. It also seems like my decisions from the last games didn't carry that much weight. (especially with the rachni)

* multiplayer: personally, I like it. I don't like the system of getting unlocks. ( been trying to get the mattock for days lol) like all things, it's not perfect but I love playing coop with my friends.

*ending: no idea. Haven't seen it...

Game is great. Would have given it a perfect score had it not been for a couple of seriously annoying aspects. Still a 9/10 in my book. 32 hours of greatness outweighs an hour of slop.

ME1 is still my favorite of the trilogy, but I'd rank 3 above 2. It improves the combat style of 2 while drawing bits I liked from 1.

I played the 1st and 2nd one.... and IMO it is not my type of game but I do see why ppl enjoy it....

I think the problem imo is its a hybrid between action and rpg.... but more action.... and the problem with theaction side is the combat seems flimsy vs games like gears.

Same can be said about Deus Ex... hybrid game and having the mechnics feel flimsy.. difference is I enjoyed deuse ex more because of the story...

The story in ME does not really grasp me honestly

Although I am only 20 hours in, I think its a phenominal title. Great story and dialogue (outside of vega/c"ho"bot), tight gameplay, good graphics, and fun co-op mode = a great game.

Although I have heard the endings are very off in quality, everything else is head and shoulders above most of the generic junk we buy into.

If you don't like it, too each their own. But for every person who hates on ME, I am sure two more love it.

When EA acquired BIoware...BIoware forums went ballistic with like thousands and thousands of posts. Bioware finally responded with a "EA will give us the freedom to continue our love for making video games and to give what gamers want and to listen to our audience" IT is plain to see EA's tentacles all over Mass Effect 3 and that Bioware was puppet stringed into making this monstrosity...I can almost assure you that if Bioware was still in charge of Bioware this this....hideous game which critics claim to be a 9/10 clearly is not and is a balck eye to the gaming community....

1. The ending was a big disappointment.

2. To many loading screens.

3. Loading screens were terrible compared to Mass Effect 2. ME2 had some awesome loading screens.

4. Overall felt "casualized" to make it more appealing to the Masses..no pun intended.

And before you guys bash I'm a HUGE Mass Effect fan and I did enjoy the third game it's just my lest favorite in the series.

Mass Effect 3 is a very popular game. Sad to say but the gaming scene is full of complete asshole hipsters now and hate it when a game reaches mainstream success. Sure, day one DLC sucks, but it doesn't take away from the overall story. They market the DLC as "the complete Mass Effect 3 experience" but it's not like that all, it's more of a "do you wanna play MORE Mass Effect 3". Hate on me all you hipsters want, call me racial names all you want. None of it matters. Bioware and EA are making millions off of Mass Effect. Thousands of players love this game. Maybe all you assholes complaining are just jealous that your lives have amounted to a whole lot of nothing and no one is talking good or bad about your non existent hit series. Not all of us hate it because it's popular and not everybody complaining hates it as a whole.

Some of us simply hate the ending and the fact that certain choices were negated by Bioware or seemed insignificant when carried over. For example, my brother sided with The Illusive Man at the ending of ME2. Apparently you can't do this in 3.

When choosing Anderson for the council he retires anyway and it's given to Udina no matter what.

The Rachni seemed to have little to no effect.

It's funny though that any negative words said against a Bioware game when it launches is immediately met with "haters" and "hipsters" and disregarded as being meaningless or unfounded.

Only things I don't like about Mass Effect 3
- Stupid Tali reveal (still pissed about that one)
- The silly change to the reputation that screwed a decision for me big time (Did everything needed from ME2/ME3 for the peaceful Geth/Quarian resolution but apparently I lacked reputation even though I had a reasonable amount
- Killing off old comrades (Seriously they survived one suicide mission then Bio has to go and randomly kill a bunch of them off)
- Probably the ending (Haven't got there yet...getting some multiplayer time in to boost my endgame *success*)

But for the most part I think its a pretty strong game. Agree or Disagree I don't really care. I just think Bioware had a bit of laziness in a few spots...and YES im talking about Tali.

Because the first game isn't on PS3 and the second one came to PS3 a year late. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from when this was a PC/Xbox only series so I still haven't played it. Also I hate it because it gets more attention then alot of my favorite series. Maybe I'll play them one day, but for now there's plenty of other games I'd rather play.

tried ME2, couldn't get into it. Generic story, average shooter game play, branching dialogue trees.
Everyone else seems to love it though, which is great.
Don't really understand where all the hate is coming from.
Have fun playing it. There's plenty of games now to keep everybody occupied. This gen is completely spoiled.
