GamePro names the overall best games and accomplisments of 2007...no easy task, considering the quality and quantity of games released in the second half of the year. Many of the following categories had the GamePro editors so conflicted that the winner was decided by a single vote!

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.
they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.
Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.
A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Bioware gets a pat on the back for one of the most underwhelming games ever? Yes, Mass Effect is a great Shooter with RPG parts. But Developer of the year should go to someone like Infinity Ward, or even 2kgames. These developers have proven that they KNOW how to develop. Not just that they lucked out with a game that only sold 700k copies. Not saying that its NOT a lot of copies, but no where near COD4. JUST for the 360.
Bioware cant program worth a damn. Anyone who has played Mass Effect can agree with this. What the hell is with all of the crappy "next gen options." I have a 360, not a F`ing PC. You are supposed to program the game to run optimally on the system. Not chug it down with all the "options" What the hell? Same with epic ant UT3 for the ps3.. WHY IS THERE A BLOOM button?! Bloom does not equal NEXT GEN.
Last year we didn't see buggy crapfests winning GOTY. I'm afraid that this crap is going to start a great trend, where developers know they dont have to give 100%. People will still buy the 60 dollar title. Why put in the extra work to get STREAMING LOADING working and not loading textures or jogging slow framerates.

Its not Gamepros fault, the media has won this gaming year. I'm sorry Mass Effects "flawed yet good" success story is BS in this "NEXT GEN PUSHING THE ENVELOPE" environment.
360 Kicked the PS3's ass this year. Since everyone was expecting the PS3 to dominate. No question about it.
2008 will be a better year for gamers, hopefully Developers get serious in the face of games like Uncharted/COD4.And Sony will get serious about its lineup. If not, people are just making games just to sell them to people. There is no more art/vision involved, and we are all just part of the stupid big blockbuster world to where Spiderman 3, the worlds worst movie in the world.. Breaks records.
I enjoyed console gaming for a while, but it seems the PC is where the real games will be. If anyone still makes them for PC anymore, since its not the most profitable form of gaming anymore.
God Remember Battlefield2? Americas Army? Operation Flashpoint? WOW? Starcraft? Counterstrike? hell PREY?!? I didnt' care sale one of how well EA did, they just made a really good f`ing game.
If crap products get accepted, you new gamers can keep it. Its only going to get worse. Ass Creed & Mass Effect are just the start.
Rockband got a couple of awards and a few runner-ups, that's always good to see.
CoD4's in it's rightful place, and its good to see motorstorm getting some credit too. Nomention of FF12 on PS2? Wait, when did that come out? oh well...
