Trevor of GAMElitist.com - "Last week, I reviewed Journey, a stellar game to say the least. In a way, it was an incredibly important game as well; for the first time in quite a while, a game was praised equally for its artistic merit as well as its gameplay achievements. Usually it’s one or the other."

Sammy: "Sony disastrously and disgracefully shuttered Texas-based fan favourite Bluepoint yesterday. The long-time PS Studios partner never got a chance to ship a game under its new parent company.
This news hit me particularly hard because I believe it reflects the erosion of once-great PlayStation management that I think we’ve all been feeling for quite some time."
How was this allowed to happen? A studio know for excellent remakes and remasters were put on a GOW live service game? Something nobody wanted? There are so many other, more interesting projects, for me they were the prime studio who should have remastered or remade Bloodborne, what an absolute waste, I'm really annoyed about this.
Hulst should have followed Jim Ryan out the door, especially after his failed concord brainchild, execs really do only fail upwards.
It does concern me that they think closing amazing studios like Bluepoint and Japan Studios is smart.
I'm honestly surprised Media Molecule is still around. They put out what 1 game in the past 10+ years? I personally wasn't interested in Dreams, so they have been a wash for me since the PS3 era. Are they working on a new game? What are they doing?
Frustrating news, for sure. Hulst is on a major losing streak. Baffling decisions....
They could of let them do a Remakes of Sly, Jak and Daxter maybe the old Killzone games. Ported Demon Souls to other platforms. Steady revenue for growth becoming a 70 team to 100+ eventually.
As a PS Fan and someone that looks to new exsperiences not rehashing old ones I can feel for the devs but it does not move the needle as far as getting new video games.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
This is precisely why I don't really care for art games. I love games with story. I'm a story guy first and foremost, but the gameplay is either non-existent, minimal, not very good, or all of the above. Even the good ones like Limbo could use better controls.
Bottom line is, do you want the gameplay or the "message" behind art games?
It's not necessarily a problem with "art games" but a problem with the industry. Creating such an experience takes time to polish and perfect so with things like publishers pushing deadlines and lots of gamer being impatient pricks bitching about games not releasing fast enough, you're really only able to focus on one major thing within a reasonable time frame. If you try to focus on gameplay and story this day in age you end up with the situation The Last Guardian is in. Tons of people waiting for it but 80% bitching about, and about another 10% giving up on the game entirely. Not to mention all the gripe the media is giving them, the shit's getting worse than the gran turismo 5 situation.
So with that in mind it's best to try to do just a very few things your primary
