Come read what LoveRetroGaming admits to that no gamer should ever admit to!

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

For Southeast Asia, new price changes.
Prices effective starting May 1st, 2026.
Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses
The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

Xbox boss Asha Sharma has discussed how component shortages will impact the company's plans for Project Helix.
This kind of proves this is an after thought product, most products like this are in r&d 5 years before they start mass producing. So they typically have the cost of components and things worked out long before assembly starts.
This is an assumption still, but I wouldn’t be surprised if project helix is similar to Scalebound, perfect dark and sod3. They had an idea but no actual execution other than concept stage. Being impacted by the ram shortage likely would also put this device 3-4 years out.
I’m not even sure MS has that endurance with Xbox yet
Helix is going to be stupidly expensive
Instead of leaning into smarter upscaling techniques they're brute forcing hardware that will cost them dearly and it remains to be seen if it's genuinely going to provide a meaningful differential
I know in the oc.doace people like to brag about not using frame gen or dlss to get to high on a game but for the majority of players they happily use those technologies without a second thought
That's going to be ps6 vs Helix
It's called systematic inflationary. Yes we get it Microsoft, keep raising in the name ofall kinds of stuffs
Honestly if there was thing I learned from this generation is that new consoles arnt day one anymore.
I can wait 1-3 years.
1. Same... Although, I just bought the MGS HD collection and will play that after I play the original on PS1.
2. Same... It really wasn't as bad as everyone thinks.
3. Same... although I recently bought an Xbox so I can appreciate both companies.
4. Same... although I have lost most of my interest in trophies as of late.
What's so bad about admitting these things.
Interesting read, but I don't think any of those are reasons to have any shame.
1. I loved MGS, Snake Eater, and adored MGS4 (the reason I bought my PS3). MGS2 was well-made and I liked a fair bit of it, but I didn't like Raiden's whining... he made up for it in 4 though.
2. I haven't played it but I know a lot of people who enjoyed it, so that doesn't really raise an eyebrow.
3. Both systems have great games and exclusive features. I have them both and play them both pretty much equally.
4. There's a good feeling of accomplishment from getting trophies and achievements, so I wouldn't fault anyone on wanting them... unless they're farming stuff like the Hannah Montana game. Now THERE'S something no one should admit to, even if it's right there for all your friends to see and laugh at.
Until last week the only metal gear I'd ever played was MGS4 (and a little of the original PSX MGS at a friend's house back in school) and I really couldn't see what all the fuss was about. I'd heard from people that you had to play through the entire series to really appreciate the fourth but I couldn't see how it'd be possible that anything would make me love a series with such cheesy cliched characters and such clunky controls.
I'm currently right at the end of MGS2 in the collection and haven't even played MGS3 or Peace walker yet and I'm... LOVING it. I don't even know why. The characters are just as cheesy if not cheesier than the characters in the fourth game and the controls are even worse, they're basically a bad nightmare mapped onto a controller but.... I don't know what it is, there's just a charm to it all.
I think it might be partly due to the stealth seeming more prominent and fast paced than it does in MGS4. Each room in MGS2 is something like a puzzle requiring a different approach whereas most of MGS4 seemed to consist of lying in grass camouflaged in big open areas, knowing I could probably just stand up and shoot my way through anyway. I'm expecting 3 to play more like 4 in this sense but I still think I'll have a greater appreciation for it even if I still wind up preferring the style of 2. Anyway, rant over. I'm just happy and surprised to finally be on board with the Metal gear thing.
I can relate to number three, I own a Wii, PC and PS3 yet I find you have to be careful with that kind of information on N4G. God forbid you try and be positive about any of those three.
1. I played the first MGS on the playstation.
2. I really hated that game.
3. I find it difficult to prefer companies over another. I'm more of a "everything" gamer.
4. I don't hate it nor love it. I enjoy earning trophies so i'm glad they exist but I wouldn't go out of my way to spend a significant amount of title collecting them.
These are just my views and I don't think there's anything wrong to admitting what the author said...However i'm not daft, the title "don't admit that!" was just to grab attention...and it worked! I read the article and enjoyed it, good read.
