Why Mass Effect 2's Final Boss Sucked (and Why It Doesn't Matter)

Mass Effect 2, as we've established this week, was a pretty fantastic game. It enjoyed some ups and suffered some downs, but on the whole the entire thing fit together quite neatly, combining the first game's sci-fi take on the traditional BioWare role-playing structure with more concrete shooter mechanics. Gone was gun damage determined by stats and invisible dice rolls, replaced by the easily grasped workings of a third-person shooter: Aim at something and hit it and it would die.

Oh good, I wasnt the only one that thought that the mass effect 2 boss was a bit of a jip.

Godmars2905194d ago

Think it would be harder to find someone who like that last fight.

Gandalf5194d ago

Kind of wish The Terminator theme played in the background when fighting it.

A giant skeleton who wouldve thought.

NateCole5194d ago

I don't know. It was kind of scaled down from ME1 but as a whole i like the final mission in ME2 better than ME1.

lol at Gandalf. Glad i am not the only one thinking of T-800 with that last reaper.

005194d ago

HA ha wait till you get to the end of ME3.

ninjahunter5194d ago

As you finish scaling a collapsed city thrown into destruction, you are defeated by what you see.... Ponies, Ponies everywhere. Were gonna need a bigger boat.

dirthurts5194d ago

I actually thought it was ok. Nothing too unique, but I thought it had a fairly epic feel to it.
I guess I'm just easily amused...

spike5194d ago

I forgot who the final boss was. Guess he must of sucked.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast531d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine531d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast531d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman531d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast530d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave778d ago (Edited 778d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
