Argument Article- 3DS vs Vita

I have just read the most ridiculous article of my life. It was an article explaining 10 “BIG” reasons you should buy a 3DS over a Vita, and normally I just bypass fanboyish crap like that. This time I simply could not, all the mis-information explaining why you should buy the 3DS over the Vita and not really explaining the counter fight from the Vita’s perspective

Welcome to N4G. This type of journalism has been going on for away now. Good read.

dark-hollow5174d ago (Edited 5174d ago )

Wow "counter articles" especially ones unprofessional like this one is totally pathetic.

Even though I agree with most of your points, but you could've rephrase it better without sounding like an amateur.

MaxXAttaxX5174d ago

They should leave "counter articles" to random non-professional commenters like me:

Well said. This is the type of ignorance that keeps Nintendo in business. All the points neatly stomped on by logic. If the VITA had remade MGS3 you would hear up and down the gaming community 'So, Sony just remade MGS3? I could just buy a PS2 and pay much cheaper for the game. You see this is why Sony fails'

But is MORE then okay for Nintendo to remake anything they want and people toss compliments and money and praises at them without so much as a WTF Nintendo. It's fine for Nintendo to dredge up the past as much as they want but the minute Sony takes any game recent, from last year, from a decade ago at all it's time to write the 'VITA has to many ports and games from the PS3' articles again making sure to completely ignore the fact that there are lots of original games and the ports look and play better then anything the 3DS can crank out. I could bet my head that any game on the 3DS put on the VITA would blow it away.

Nintendo gets away with EVERYTHING.And if you even squeak about it, the gaming community gets all up in arms. And every time you point out that VITA games play and look better then anything on the 3DS they pull out RE Revelations, the one game that looks decent. Everyone made sure and either ignored and made excuses when the FIFA 12 comparison was made between the two. And I am not the only person who think 3DS 3D is crap. But don't even whisper it to anyone are risk getting your throat slit.

FriedGoat5174d ago (Edited 5174d ago )

I have a 3DS and this is totally correct. Uncharted is amazing but gets compared to console counterparts and gets 7's. Mario 3d land is average and short and gets 9's. If 3D land was compared to galaxy it would be 5's Nintendo just get away with it all!

Titanz5174d ago (Edited 5174d ago )

I..can't...stop....LAUGHIN '! xD

Midori5174d ago (Edited 5174d ago )

The article the writer is responding to contained misinformation and employed opinions as facts. This article is no different, also presenting opinions as facts and spreading more incorrect information.

On top of that, the writer of this article incessantly uses language such as "HAHAHAHA", incessant cursing, poor capitalization, etc.

In the author's attempt to offer a rational rebuttal, "Steve" went below the level of his predecessor.

svoulis5174d ago (Edited 5174d ago )

While I admit some parts are exaggerated and out of line, the article as a whole is not opinion based.

Show me where please? Did you see the BlazBlue reviews for the 3DS?

Did Nintendo not release the Circle Pad Pro for particular games out and soon coming out?

Are the games selling on the 3DS not primarily remakes or Nintendo branded games?

Is the Vita store not already up?

Can you not play most PSP games, and PSOne games on the Vita one way or another?

Did it not take Nintendo almost 5 months to bring theirs E-Shop up?

Are there not "console experience" like games on the Vita?

Did the 3DS not take almost a year in total to start releasing original "console worthy" games? I've had mine since launch and aside from Mario Kart & Super Mario Land 3D I'm just starting to actually find interest in it again.

In my defense I wrote this article and compiled pictures in about 20 minutes, so yes there are some errors, and I will go back and correct those, but the cursing will stay.

My entire reason for this article is that the original poster gave excuses for owning the 3DS over logical reason, If the author had actually mentioned things the 3DS does that the Vita doesn't do I wouldn't have written it. The only reasons that made sense were the 3D, and the fact that Nintendo makes great first party games.

rezzah5174d ago

He probably acted more out of emotion than logic.

Which can be messy, thus the reasons for his mistakes.

GraveLord5174d ago

You might want to re-read the article. But those weren't his opinions. Most of his "facts" are actual "facts" backed up with an actual explanation that's not biased.

Midori5174d ago (Edited 5174d ago )

un·bi·ased   [uhn-bahy-uhst]
adjective
not biased or prejudiced; fair; impartial.

"This is a complete joke, this system has nothing “console” worthy besides a few remakes and Resident Evil Revelations, and I bought my 3DS mainly for RE: Revelations, and I admit its fan[censored]tastic. That is literally all it has going for it, and a few remakes."

Steve then uses examples of ports and emulated games (despite the 3DS also having backwards compatibility) from last generation to prove that the Vita has good fighters, despite later saying,

"Seriously, that is more of a flaw than a good reason especially considering the top selling games on the 3DS are in fact the remakes of older games. Where’s the originality?"

[image of Circle Pad Pro]"Yeah, you need this to enjoy some new games coming out."
Literally none of the announced and currently released 3DS releases require the Circle Pad Pro to function.

Aside from those and some borderline comments, the article has legitimate points. I can overlook that it is marred by poor punctuation, grammar, spelling, and the other not-so-subtleties that comprised the post.

ozstar5174d ago

Holy ****, you do realize you're way worse than the other author of that article right?

You disgust me

svoulis5174d ago (Edited 5174d ago )

How exactly am I worse? Just like I said before, Prove any of what i said wrong.

Personally I could care less if I "disgust" you. I don't even know you but thats besides the point, I mean would you mind elaborating why I disgust you?

@rezzah

You are probably right in that case. Sorry I can't stand this whole Vita 3DS bullsh@t anymore though. This article was more of a counter-act to the reasons to own a 3DS, I never said someone should buy a Vita over a 3DS and list reasons why. I just showed people that everything he basically said could be said about the Vita as well, and if people dont get that. Oh well

rezzah5174d ago

Probably by replying to the other opinionated article in the first place. People might she this as a fanboy defense, or emotional reaction towards a obvious "lesser" (fanboy) person.

Also perceived emotional reactions don't do you good even when you add logic sometimes, because the person feels that they understand that you are lower than them self. Which is probably why you disgust ozstar up there ^

ozstar5174d ago

Because you have publicly embarrassed yourself by writing a petty blog retort to another frankly unimportant, and pointless, blog post on another site.

Sure, the original article wasn't well thought out, but most people who read it didn't need you to point that out.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy852d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele2d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk2d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit2d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg1d 22h ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon1011d 21h ago (Edited 1d 21h ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz1492d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle15d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit15d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog15d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog15d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad15d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_15d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage15d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda15d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.

U.S. patent examiner rejects Nintendo’s summoning characters patent as obvious: non-final ruling

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).

Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.

PRIMORDUS27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.
