Wii U Controller Originally Had Proper Analogue Sticks

The Wii U controller features 3DS-like Circle Pad sliders instead of the tilting analogue sticks that have been the industry norm since Nintendo 64. That wasn't always the case, though.

Now it has rubbish slide pads .

Spin Nintendo apologists spin. I can't believe someone would talk about how something is comfortable over the practicality of using something that is inferior to analog sticks.

Analog sticks are better than slide pads

I don't understand Nintendo apologists apologizing for every bad decision Nintendo makes. It's as if they are sheeps that follows their master no matter what.

Knight_Cid5242d ago

I hate to break it to you but the 3ds slide pad is the most comfortable thing ever

Megaman_nerd5242d ago

it was horrible on PsP, it was horrible on DS and it's horrible on the 3DS. There is no way to spin that.

Thank god Sony learned from their mistake and put proper analog sticks on the Vita. -_-

--Onilink--5242d ago

On the ds??? What are you talking about? The ds didnt even had... And just because the psp had bad ones doesnt mean thr ones on the 3ds are bad... They are great actually

DA_SHREDDER5242d ago

I hate to break it to you, as a 3ds owner, I will admit its comfortable, but I don't see this controller being relevant unless it has L3 and R3 buttons. It needs to feel like a dual shock 3 or 360 controller before Nintendo thinks the hardcore will wanna play COD or any fps on it or not.

hellvaguy5242d ago

The slide pad is decent, but not as a good as a normal analogue stick. The glaringly obvious problem, is the lack of 2 of them for playing 3d games.

It seems like a such a no brainer to use 2, its pretty confounding how the decision was made to have only 1. Boogles the mind really.

Knight_Cid5242d ago

1) you dont need 2 sticks to make incredible games, even 3d one

2) Comfort is my preference

3) not everything is cod

GraveLord5241d ago

Doesn't matter how comfortable it is.
Analog Sticks work much better and actually click. This is used for running and melee in many FPS.

I hope they bring back normal analog sticks. It's not like this tablet is supposed to be portable or fit in your pocket. There is no excuse for not having proper analog sticks.

"Spin Nintendo apologists spin."

Damn those with their own opinion.
Damn those who do not conform to your ideology.
Damn humanity.
DAMN IT ALL!

DarkBlood5242d ago (Edited 5242d ago )

and i dont understand your praise for sony like they are the second coming of christ, i love sony too but nobody is that perfect or good

n4f5242d ago

hey i tested the psv and the i dont like the joystick. it feel like they are gonna break! and how are you suppose to put it in your pocket?its already huge and those joystick are not helping.i though its was suppose to be portable!

Game3s5241d ago

So you the Sony apologists?

NYC_Gamer5242d ago

Long as the controller isn't real small since i have huge hands

brettyd5242d ago

id be interested to see how "slide pads" work with shooters, my instinct says not well but we'll see.

Xander-RKoS5242d ago

They aren't much different than analogue sticks, at least from what I call on the 3DS. There really is anything all that different.

bergoo5242d ago

hopefully theyll keep wiimote/nunchuck option for most shooters. Way better than sticks/sliders

AWBrawler5241d ago

I think people forget that damn near every shooter will have the option to use the wiimote option, which does infact pown Dual analogue.

why else would keven Butler be bragging about the Move on shooters??

Ness-Psi5241d ago

try the circle pad pro with resi revelations or MGS 3D and they work perfectly. i thought at first they wouldnt be accurate or anything but you forget your playing on them after awhile and feel good.

but i think the slide pads on the WiiU will be slightly different to the 3DS ones.

Instigator5242d ago

I'd rather have regular analogue sticks, but the 3DS one is pretty good so I guess I'll live.

Kran5242d ago

They should stick to what people are used to.

bitboi5242d ago

if they'd always stick to what people are used to, then we'd never have shoulder buttons, analog sticks, rumble, motion control and other things that are commonplace in gaming today.

Smashbro295242d ago

Except that motion control kinda blows...

Best 2D, Mario World, best 3D, Mario 64. Can't say there's been a bad one, although Mario World 2 wasn't a true sequel. The Mario Land games were good (not the first one) and also Wario Land. I thought after Mario 64, Mario 3D World was excellent.
