Twisted Metal – Patch No. 2 Arrives Tomorrow, Fixes Network Issues

MP1st - David Jaffe discusses the upcoming patch, balancing, and other issues with Twisted Metal.

-Alpha5205d ago

I think players should be able to join late games for ranked, I dont see the harm in giving that choice. I'd also like it if after my team bails I can get players to even the game out. Only makes sense.

After the network patch comes the gameplay patch, and Axel and Talon are on the top of people's hit list. I think Talon's special needs a nerf, whether that be damage, bullet count, or regeneration rate.

rdgneoz35205d ago

I can see Talon, but Axel isn't too bad. Somewhat got use to him from the first week or so of people with the preorder code using him since nothing else was unlocked. As for ranked, it is annoying as hell when you lose team members as they just leave or crash, though the game will end early if you lose too many people. However it can screw up the stats section a bit.

vickers5005205d ago

What's wrong with Talon? I haven't fought someone using Talon in mp yet, so what's the problem with him? Are his specials overpowered? Is it way too hard to hit him? Does he have too much armor?

Axel is sort of annoying but he's not all that bad, although I do think they should increase the recharge rate of his special and make him a little bit heavier so he doesn't jump like superman.

SoapShoes5204d ago

Nothing's wrong with him if you know what you are doing.

1) He has very low armor.
2) He drops like a fly if you freeze him.
3) He is very easy to take out with a sniper since there are so few obstructions in the air.

Legionaire20055204d ago

Why would Superman jump when he could fly? Anyway, I disagree Axel should keep his high jump, especially for Nuke matches. Axel is one of my favorite vehicles, and its the best vehicle for newcomers to start with. If players think Axel is too overpowered well they are wrong, I got first place in many matches without playing Axel, Thanks to Meat Wagon, and Roadboat. Need a little practice on Sweeth Tooth cause his vehicle is too darn slow. As for Talon, I have to admit he is a little hard to aim when you are in the heat of battle between many players. He is easy to take down when he needs ammo. I like for them to make Reaper and Crimson Fury a little powerful, because they can die too easy.

vickers5005204d ago

I don't mean they should get rid of his super jump, just tone it down a bit. It's a little too high.

soundslike5204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

He claims it screws up balance. You know what screws it even more?

Leaving.

How is late joining any worse than leaving?

with late joining on, rooms will fill up and stay filled, thus if anyone DOES leave, it wont be as significant.

Kinda weird the community has to be the one to tell them this but whatever, the games amazing, just get it patched.

Legionaire20055204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

I think there should be late join, because isn't that done in almost every game? Its not really a problem. I can't stand waiting for the stupid host to start when there is like 15 players, yet the host is not there. Whenever I am the host I change the title to something like "IwillStart," which will attract a lot of players to come. Yes I am one of those host with that title, an I will actually start. Hope they fix the hell out of this game!!!

Wow cyberpunk is a great pick up. If you haven’t played it you should definitely give it a try

Christopher319d ago

Banishers was dragged down by the need to go back to old areas multiple times.

GhostScholar320d ago

Also if you bought it at launch and couldn’t deal with all the bugs it’s a totally different game now

stupidusername319d ago

Played it on release and thought it was a mess. But I'm currently playing it again now on both PS5 and Switch 2 with cross save progression, and it's really different to how I remember it. Really enjoying it now, and it's really polished and immersive.

Despite owning the 2077 One X console and the steelbook edition of the game... i still have never played it. I may actually give 2077 a try (via the portal) as there has been so much talk about it again, thanks to SW2 and now this comparison vid from DF. https://youtu.be/SvGQik3m6a...

dveio320d ago (Edited 320d ago )

I think it's an okay decision or happening.

iirc, wasn't there even a new and probably last update coming soon announced recently?

I've never played 2077, neither. (I am still a bit mad about their ... well, anyway.)

But I think it can't get better to play that game, or any game for that matter, in a 100% complete, fully updated build.

DivineHand125320d ago

Cyberpunk and Risk of rain 2 are the best of the bunch. Not a bad month if you are one of the few that haven't played those games.

yeastori320d ago

Cyberpunk is probably one of the best games I've ever played, even when it came out with all the bugs and glitches and broken gameplay on consoles, I still loved it at its core because the world was exactly what I wanted in a dystopian vision of the real future and the story was actually well done and compelling. With the fixes and then Phantom Liberty I just knew that this game could've been GOTY winner if it hadn't been released too early and released on PS5. XBX and two years later.

shinXseijuro320d ago

Might give cyberpunk a chance now that the game redeemed itself . Is it only the basic game or with the newer content ?

xHeavYx320d ago

According to the article, it's just the base game, but the DLC will be 30% off

TM3 is my favorite but I'll take what they bring out gladly. Fun times back in the day and great soundtracks

Cacabunga602d ago

Last one on ps4 wasn’t good at all.
Hoping for some good reboot or remake of the first 3

Dagexon602d ago

You mean the one on ps3?

Cacabunga601d ago

Yes i do, thanks! I realized too late couldn’t edit

Lego 2K Drive features an exciting mode called Brick Brawl, inspired by Twisted Metal. Players can create, share, and upload various cars, including ones like Sweet Tooth. The game boasts thousands of custom cars, ranging from the Batmobile to the Sweet Tooth ice cream truck.

Never understood the like for the series. Not my bag but I know a lot of gamers are clamoring for a new game and liked the TV. Series

TiredGamer602d ago (Edited 602d ago )

TM1 and 2 are time period classics. They were a bit rough, ugly, and grungy, but they felt right during the time period they were released and they scratched that early console “death match” itch before FPS games would completely swallow that market.

Many great memories with friends playing couch co-op and 1v1. Short, and quick-and-dirty gameplay that we returned to over and over. I’d buy a remake or proper remastering of the first two games day one.

InUrFoxHole602d ago

Lol, nice! I remember having the tiger handheld or watch..

FinalFantasyFanatic601d ago

I played those so much as I kid, I bought the Twisted Metal games that were on PSN as Playstation Classics, wow, they feel clunky by today's standards, they could really use the remake/remaster treatment.

UltimateOwnage602d ago

Twisted Metal: Black is when the series really hit for me. I still love that game so much. It was kind of downhill for the series after that IMO. I'd love to see the series go back to its roots, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for David Jaffe coming back from where he is these days to oversee development of a competent sequel.

Snookies12602d ago

Black was the pinnacle in my opinion. I adored TM1 and TM2, for sure. But Black brought it to a whole new level of awesome.
