I’m Singing the PS Vita Post-Launch Blues

The PS Vita is a fine piece of hardware that enjoyed a very solid launch. Now we need a second wave of games.

Jio5169d ago

This is what I hate about being an early adopter. I bought 3 games and now I have nothing to play after beating them. The nearest game I want doesn't come out until May, and even then the game I really want doesn't even have a release date.

NovusTerminus5169d ago

Just wondering, what is it you are wanting?

Right now I am waiting for Gravity Rush.

limewax5169d ago

Waiting on LBP myself. But I don't get why people think there aren't enough games. I have little deviants and escape plan, I would love Wipeout and Uncharted but don't have the money. I don't think there is a lack of games at all. The system currently has more games I want than any other system at the moment

KUV19775169d ago

I'm waiting for Gravity Rush too. It's funny though how the author doesn't want to buy Uncharted because he 'plays in bursts' and doesn't want to 'scan a room for 10 minutes for a lever' while playing in one of these bursts and he thinks it is meant for the big screen but he wants a new Metal Gear Portable. Makes total sense to me.

tiffac0085169d ago (Edited 5169d ago )

Yes to Gravity Rush~!

Someone needs to tell the author to look at the internet because there are tons of sources that will tell him where the lever is. lol!

GribbleGrunger5169d ago

it's not difficult at all to find levers in UGA... in fact i can't remember getting stuck once throughout the whole game. the only real difficulty was finding all the hidden gems and rubbings etc. to me, the author is deliberately finding reasons to reduce his wish list in order to prove a point.

ThanatosDMC5168d ago (Edited 5168d ago )

You're lucky you only bought 3. I bought 8 plus 2 psn games. I want a Monster Hunter game. I'd settle for a MH Tri G port from the wii.

Chaostar5169d ago (Edited 5169d ago )

1 month after a launch line-up of, what, 20-30 games and you want a second wave?

And they say us gamers are an impatient, self-entitled bunch /s

I am looking forward to Gravity Rush however :)

Edit: it was 26 games...

oNIXo5169d ago (Edited 5169d ago )

That's what I don't get. The damn thing just came out, and people think that there should be 300+ games right now. It just came out, jeez. Give it some time. We wait months for a console game and, for some reason, people can't do the same for a brand-new piece of hardware.

I love my Vita, and I just got Plats Vs. Zombies for my wife, and now she loves it too. With all the stuff I already downloaded onto my PS3 I have a solid library of games to play on my Vita. I'm willing to wait, I can't fathom why other people won't do the same.

GribbleGrunger5169d ago

i've only played one game and that's UGA. that game alone makes the wait worth while. i'm now waiting on LBPVita and i'm happy to do it too.

26 six launch titles and over 200 PSP games (at reduced price) and STILL people complain about a lack of games to play!? incredible. eventually the multiplats will come along with the Vita only games and then Sony are in business.

neogeo5169d ago

I did not buy mine yet, but I will as soon as a price drop hits, then ill be picking up all those launch games in the discount bin.

specialguest5169d ago

I haven't bought one yet, but I've been playing my brother's Vita once in a while. I'm actually waiting for a memory card price drop. It just goes against my principles to pay so much for so little.

No rush to buy one, since I've already played UC:GA, and the other games I want are not out yet.

longcat5168d ago

i got one for $162 (used) on amazon. Mint condition. They have some decent prices early in the morning from the warehouse deals.

Waiting for gravity rush and hoping to find a cheap memory card by then

Unexpecta5169d ago

Just to let you know, that price drop isn't happening anytime soon.

If you can't afford the PSVita for $250 bucks, then you don't have the privilege to play it.

MasterCornholio5169d ago (Edited 5169d ago )

At least the Vita didn't launch as badly as the 3DS (In terms of games library) so I'm really not complaining. But I do hope that Sony announces some more games soon.

PS Vita: Is Sony Finally In Position For Portable Market Leadership?

The Vita has captured the media with that same level of originality, found in the original DS. Prior to the system being named it was dubbed the NPG. At E3 2011 it received its official name as the PS Vita, an obscure choice, but one that could work in Sony's favor. According to industry analyst, the Nintendo 3DS' biggest problem is that it's not different enough from the DS, and consumers are ready for a new more advance portable device.

I hope so.. they deserve it

JoGam5390d ago

That right take the lead.

darthv725390d ago

really a must have for this unit to succeed?

It will succeed on its own merits. The games!

Their biggest enemy is Pokemon and a Mario game. Damn, i want another Paper Mario game.

zinki335390d ago

I think in dedicated gaming devices,.. Price still holds the biggest factor for the mass appeal,..especially in the west and since it is definitely aimed for a bit older gamers,.. I don't know,..
I am sure it will do better in the west as PSP,.. (I actually think it is still doing pretty well, even in US, despite the shit media propagates..)

I know I will get it day1 and I haven't owned a single portable console since original gameboy some 21 years ago,..

I just see so much potential in this device,.. simply because of input methods,.. It floors me,..

kneon5390d ago

The device looks great but as you say it's aimed at an older demographic. Nintendo will continue to own the kids and tweens market because they have the games for this group, and this is a large group.

jack_burt0n5389d ago

It needs to launch with some pretty powerful tablet apps, simply because us older gamers dont need to carry too much stuff imo, it can easily do tablet functions and be a "real" gaming device.

Hope sony realises this.

supremacy5389d ago

I agree and this is something Sony can capitalize on.

vgcgames5390d ago

I would say yes, but Apple is a threat.....

-Alpha5390d ago (Edited 5390d ago )

Apple is not a direct competitor considering one is ultra casual oriented while the other is ultra hardcore oriented. We just wont see iPhone fans jump to the PSV and vice versa.

Sony is pitching to the hardcore gamer, Nintendo I see as middle-ground, and the iPhone is pretty casual. Sony is locking Nintendo head-on while Apple is taking Nintendo from behind and Nintendo didn't even see it coming.

That is the only competition for Sony, IMO. Sony and Apple are sandwiching Nintendo, but the two never seem to be in direct contact

life doomer5390d ago (Edited 5390d ago )

"Sony is pitching to the hardcore gamer"

"We just wont see iPhone fans jump to the PSV and vice versa."

how do you know that sony is pitching to the hardore gamer and not both. Open your mind boy and stop making assumptions. You are trying to sound worse than Michael Pachter.

And all the idiots out there who think that the iphone will steal sony's and nintendo's thunder have no common sense.

-Alpha5390d ago

@doomer

I dont see the casual audience jumping on the PSV, sorry.

Not only does Sony lack the IPs Nintendo does that gets casuals attracted, but the device is just too intimidating of a jump for those who game on a touch screen phone.

It's evident Sony is pitching to the hardcore-- the device is really built as a mini PS3 and the software shown is really hardcore oriented.

tarbis5390d ago

The iphone will sell even if it does not have games. It's a need not a want.

tiffac0085389d ago

Not to mention having an Apple product equates to being trendy in today's society. So people who aren't even in to gaming will buy an iPhone or an iPad.

The PSV will always be for gaming. We are its consumers not the people who wants to be trendy or something like that.

5119ent5390d ago

Have you guys played games on the iphone....it does not even compare to the gba

vgcgames5390d ago

PS Vita is a hardcore device, but all it takes is the right software and perfect marketing, and your a casual device. That's how Nintendo did it with the DS. the only question is how do you make it happen. The thrill is gone for the DS, that's how all fads work, eventually they just die out-never to return.

Why do they have to be the leader to be successful? If they sell 60 mil units and nintendo sells 61 mil units are they not successful? Get these silly ideas out of your heads. As long as they are profitable they are successful as a company.

Hozi895390d ago

I've been asking this question so many times and no one else seems to care about it but HOW LONG WILL THE PSV BATTERY LAST!?

Doesn't anyone have an answer?

r215389d ago

the only thing i've heard from the net and people is that its similar to the psp's battery life. 4-6 hours or so. hopefully when we get confirmed news, it'll be longer than that.

Hozi895389d ago

I hope we get at least 5 hours minimum. I wish it was solar powered. XD!
