Alan Wake PC - Exploring Bright Falls Walkthrough Video

DSOGaming writes: "Now this is really interesting. YouTube’s member ‘xKyleN’ uploaded an amazing video walkthrough of Alan Wake’s Bright Fall. Players could not explore this town and what’s really interesting here is that this town is actually detailed and polished. Remedy has stated that Alan Wake was never meant to be an open-world game but this walkthrough will give you an idea of what it would look like in case it was. The town is deserted as ‘xKyleN’ used a trainer in order to explore it, but still. We are pretty sure that you’ll appreciate it so go ahead and watch it!"

PC really does the game justice. Curse microsoft for delaying its release so long. Had people actually seen this sort of thing 2 years ago they might have even gone to buy the 360 version more too

KeiserSosay47885209d ago

There's still some console stuff hidden in there like the pop-in for vegetation being 10 feet in front of you and some of the textures are just gross. I hope that maybe with Alan Wake 2 the PC version could possibly be closer to the original design that Remedy had in mind for PC.

SKUD5209d ago

Sadly, due to MS's strong financial hand in the series we will never know what could of been of this game. From here on out any PC version of this game will always be an after thought. There main focus is selling it on X360 and future generation Xbox.

Not sure why this game is so demanding on PC's. Guess those in-game ads must look there best =/

gillri5209d ago

console stuff? no its was just a first generation game they coudlnt maximise the hardware potential. Look at skyrim and RDR asdie form the lighting effect they look much better on the 360 and they are open world

of course you call it 'console stuff' to make yourself feel better. kind of childish really

KeiserSosay47885209d ago

@gillri

What do you mean by first generation, lol? Btw, both Skyrim AND Red Dead Redemtion, although great games, had BOTH problems I listed.

Many many years ago i remember seeing Alan Wake at an Intel press release.

The game was open world and looked awesome. I wanted it so bad but then Microsoft took a shite all over my face by making it linear and a 360 exclusive.

This port has some issues but it still shows you the awesome power of the PC and what could of been if Alan Wake would of remained a PC Exclusive developed specifically for the PC.

I will pick this up for the PC when the price drops and hopefully Alan Wake 2 gets a dedicated PC version and not some crap port 2 years later

@ That Whore (which is why the game is so demanding on PC cause it's almost running in emulation mode with super duper unoptimized coding just like Fable and all other 360 ports where they just take the game and dump it on top of Windows and duct tape a DX9 api to it along with glued on KB/m support and call it a day).

Oh and go back to the open world format.

gillri5209d ago

PC version looks barely better than the 360 version, with hardware that is a generation ahead

kind of pathetic really,

Then why don't you lower the settings to the console ones? A GTX275 is sufficient for 1080p and max settings at 1080p with 30fps (better visuals with a simple GTX275. In my books, this is fine when it comes to Alan Wake's visuals/performace ratio)

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran8769d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

jznrpg182d ago

People sometimes call Wal-Mart Wally World including myself

Tacoboto769d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia769d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Chocoburger769d ago

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie769d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

Profchaos769d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie769d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh769d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.
