A good game. No where close to being one of the greatest of this generation. ME2 was a one-liner story. It was mainly a shooter and the whole game was a bunch of loyalty missions which would have felt more appropriate if it were side missions. Instead Bioware made the loyalty missions as the main objectives and made the actual journey to find
the reapers very very small ( The last 10 min of the game). Lame!!

It was a massive, choice filled Sci-Fi RPG the likes of which has not been seen since star wars.

That any developer can make a franchise with lore and detail to rival the greatest Sci-Fi of all time is nothing short of amazing.

The problem was in the execution.

Great story and atmosphere in ME1, but terrible controls and combat.

Great combat and controls in ME2, but lame story.

Well me1 is probably my favorite game this Gen. Me2 was aweful it had no RPG elements and copyed gears gameplay and controls. Nothing about it was original or innovative. The progression a player should have was not their.

the story and the depth of the characters. everything has a history, details etc. and of course the brilliant voice acting.

Mass Effect bring me back to gaming after few unfortunate years of growing up. So its more emotions than actual game. Yeah both games are great, but recently I played game like Alpha Protocol, New Vegas, Metal Gear Solid (2-4) and Mass Effect franchize really can't compete with them. I still buy ME3 day one, I'll still forward to my commander Shephard, but I am definitely not that hyped like I was before...

Don't forget the horrid facial animations.

The story

Mass Effect is one of the best RPG's I've played, the first one that is. The second one was fun and well done, but it lacked what made me like the first one so much.

When companies go commercial and try to get more people to buy the games these things usually happen. I still have some faith in Bioware though.
