played the demo and the controls are FUGLY!

FinaLXiii5218d ago (Edited 5218d ago )

You need to have some pacience to learn out the controls (try the race controls preset) i garantee you can have alot of fun with twisted metal once you get the controls right.

Gaming1015218d ago

This seems like the easiest fix ever - just allow people to assign whatever function they want to whatever button they want like every other car-related game out there - then noone complains.
They should also allow for an optional reverse of steering while going backwards, you should never force the player to adjust to an awkward control scheme, they just get turned off by it.

Jobesy5218d ago

@Gaming101, I know right. You'd think that in this day and age of gaming allowing the gamer to customize the button configuration would be a standard feature. Something so small, but often times so necessary.

Blaine5218d ago

I'm having a lot of fun with it already, but in all honestly I'm not going to play it much until I can accelerate with X and brake with [].

I think the current setup is how TM used to play, but the last time I played Black was over 10 years ago! In the mean time, I played a lot of racing and driving games that all had X assigned to acceleration and [] to brake. So I don't really want to get used to how it is currently, I'd rather wait for a patch. Also, yes, the reverse controls are backwards.

If they don't patch it... then I'll get used to how it is now. But don't expect me to be happy about it! :p

-Alpha5218d ago

Have you tried the other options? I here some people enjoy the racing style.

I agree we should have total control over control mapping, but I feel right at home from playing TM Black, minus a few awkward things like reverse and free look

soundslike5218d ago

Classic controls are default for a reason. You'll only be hurting yourself in the long run by using the alternates.

FACTUAL evidence5218d ago

Will the patch also bring in more playable characters and interesting bios like the old TM games!?

GamersRulz5218d ago

can't you wait 10 days for the FULL game ?

i thought the control scheme worked perfectly! after an hour of play i was amazed how quickly i could pick it up!

FinaLXiii5218d ago (Edited 5218d ago )

Im fine with the Race control preset but why not simply let players make their own custom controls, eh Jaffe?

mechanicleman5218d ago

I agree why cant every game just let you choose which buttons you want to do what?

metsgaming5218d ago

there are really no games that allow you to do this anymore. I can think of one game that i know for a fact lets you change the layout and thats the Genesis collection. Such a simple feature makes a huge difference.

Calahad5218d ago

That was my only complaint too. The reverse should be faster considering the fast pace action of TM... They should reward the longtime fan of the series with control schemes of the classic TM games (TM2, TM Black).

Wow cyberpunk is a great pick up. If you haven’t played it you should definitely give it a try

Christopher312d ago

Banishers was dragged down by the need to go back to old areas multiple times.

GhostScholar313d ago

Also if you bought it at launch and couldn’t deal with all the bugs it’s a totally different game now

stupidusername312d ago

Played it on release and thought it was a mess. But I'm currently playing it again now on both PS5 and Switch 2 with cross save progression, and it's really different to how I remember it. Really enjoying it now, and it's really polished and immersive.

darthv72313d ago

Despite owning the 2077 One X console and the steelbook edition of the game... i still have never played it. I may actually give 2077 a try (via the portal) as there has been so much talk about it again, thanks to SW2 and now this comparison vid from DF. https://youtu.be/SvGQik3m6a...

dveio313d ago (Edited 313d ago )

I think it's an okay decision or happening.

iirc, wasn't there even a new and probably last update coming soon announced recently?

I've never played 2077, neither. (I am still a bit mad about their ... well, anyway.)

But I think it can't get better to play that game, or any game for that matter, in a 100% complete, fully updated build.

DivineHand125313d ago

Cyberpunk and Risk of rain 2 are the best of the bunch. Not a bad month if you are one of the few that haven't played those games.

yeastori313d ago

Cyberpunk is probably one of the best games I've ever played, even when it came out with all the bugs and glitches and broken gameplay on consoles, I still loved it at its core because the world was exactly what I wanted in a dystopian vision of the real future and the story was actually well done and compelling. With the fixes and then Phantom Liberty I just knew that this game could've been GOTY winner if it hadn't been released too early and released on PS5. XBX and two years later.

shinXseijuro313d ago

Might give cyberpunk a chance now that the game redeemed itself . Is it only the basic game or with the newer content ?

xHeavYx313d ago

According to the article, it's just the base game, but the DLC will be 30% off

TM3 is my favorite but I'll take what they bring out gladly. Fun times back in the day and great soundtracks

Cacabunga595d ago

Last one on ps4 wasn’t good at all.
Hoping for some good reboot or remake of the first 3

Dagexon595d ago

You mean the one on ps3?

Cacabunga594d ago

Yes i do, thanks! I realized too late couldn’t edit

Lego 2K Drive features an exciting mode called Brick Brawl, inspired by Twisted Metal. Players can create, share, and upload various cars, including ones like Sweet Tooth. The game boasts thousands of custom cars, ranging from the Batmobile to the Sweet Tooth ice cream truck.

InUrFoxHole595d ago

Never understood the like for the series. Not my bag but I know a lot of gamers are clamoring for a new game and liked the TV. Series

TiredGamer595d ago (Edited 595d ago )

TM1 and 2 are time period classics. They were a bit rough, ugly, and grungy, but they felt right during the time period they were released and they scratched that early console “death match” itch before FPS games would completely swallow that market.

Many great memories with friends playing couch co-op and 1v1. Short, and quick-and-dirty gameplay that we returned to over and over. I’d buy a remake or proper remastering of the first two games day one.

InUrFoxHole595d ago

Lol, nice! I remember having the tiger handheld or watch..

FinalFantasyFanatic594d ago

I played those so much as I kid, I bought the Twisted Metal games that were on PSN as Playstation Classics, wow, they feel clunky by today's standards, they could really use the remake/remaster treatment.

UltimateOwnage595d ago

Twisted Metal: Black is when the series really hit for me. I still love that game so much. It was kind of downhill for the series after that IMO. I'd love to see the series go back to its roots, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for David Jaffe coming back from where he is these days to oversee development of a competent sequel.

Snookies12594d ago

Black was the pinnacle in my opinion. I adored TM1 and TM2, for sure. But Black brought it to a whole new level of awesome.
