PS Uni writes: "All of this time later and there have been many a game to attempt getting a piece of the GTA pie. Some, such as Saints Row, have done so successfully. The True Crimes of the world…not so much. Still, that doesn’t stop developers from infusing sandbox fun into their titles, and the phenomenon is no longer limited to crime romps. From shooters to RPGs, and even racers, plenty have made great use of the open world mechanic.
Now, this list isn’t necessarily about the best open-world games, but rather the sandboxes that they take place in. Which settings gave you the best time-wasting bang for your buck between missions? I’m glad you asked."

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
i think Assassin's Creed 1 or 2 deserves a mention on this. they're beautifully realized worlds. i even asked someone who's been to Italy once to come check out this building in AC2, and she recognized it instantly.
I think Assassin's Creed 2 deserves to be on the list, it is the most deverse of the Ezio trilogy. It has many different locations and is beautifully designed and looks fantastic
Shadow of the Colossus world should be in that list. It's so calm and cool, very detailed and with giant monsters roaming around or sleeping underground. You never really knows what lies ahead, and that makes everything much better than it sounds.
if dragon quest VIII isnt on there its lame
