how can Halo 3 deserve the award when games like this are present :

Portal , Bioshock, Assassin's Creed , Patapon , Pain , Timeshift , etc....

I will say as much as I like Halo 3 I am not sure that was the best deserving of Innovation. I do see were they are getting at but still I would not have thought that game. Best game of the year is not a bad one. I like SMG it is pretty cool. I would have thought the runners up for that would have been COD4 or even Bioshock I guess not.

I am thrilled to see the Best Visual Design go to Bioshock. The beauty of the game really can come down to the way the game looks. So it is great to see that game win.

I can say with hands down Best Online Experiance really is Halo 3. As much as I also like Team Fortress and Portal from the Orange Box Halos online really is great.

Over all the list is pretty good.

Bioshock's visual design is really something out of this world it really deserved it.

Why the orange box is even there, its a collection of games from past years.. I wonder what method they used to get this list together. though I am pretty sure that method involves some kind of drug...

Terrible, terrible, terrible but hey, they did show had bad their taste is by giving 8/10 to BioShock and 7/10 to AC and ME.

Any list (with diffrent games listed) could be scrutinized. I do not agree with some of the choices myself, but it's one companies opinion, not yours. After all that what relly matters. Wait until the end of all the nominations re done acroos the gaming world then add them up, this may help if you think a game that deserves recognition is not up on this list.

@MK_Red - I do not think that they have bad taste, it's just diffrent. Those games did not measure up to what they thought it should be. I for one disgree with those scores, becuase I own Bioshock abd still plying ME and I think they are easily in the 9's, with Bioshock in the really high 9's. Yur point on the scorees though point out tht this site is not MS bandwagoners.

Halo 3 innovative? The only new idea in the game is the ability to record yourself playing!

Mario Galaxy best sound? Its good but is it as good as Bioshock or Uncharted, IMO its not even close!

Valve best developer? For releasing an old game in a new package, shouldn't best dev go to a someone that has released at least 1 new game like for example Insomniac (who released 2 great new games) or Infinity Ward!

Best hardware Rock Band? I'm sure its very good and all but as a British magazine and with Rock band not available in the UK until next march surely it should not be eligable until the Edge awards 2008! And while the DS and Wii are both good kit, they are not new, they were released in years past, 2007 awards should only be for 07 kit like the PS3, PSP2000, Nvidia 8 series graphics cards and the 360 Elite.

Why is Crackdown not on the list of best online experiences? It was ace!

Why is Orange Box listed in best game but in other areas they list the individual games? On or the other guys!

Sorry to complain but Edge made its name as authoritative but if this is the standard of journalism they are peddling now I stopped reading it at the right time (about a year ago) because the standards they have for games has fallen significantly!

And why no category for best downloadable game? Don't Warhawk, Super Stardust HD and Castlevania SOTN deserve to be recognised?

Any list without BioShock, Mass Effect and COD4 as GOTY is dead wrong.
Worse, any list with EA as the best publisher nominee, has serious issues.

next year will be the biggest year ever for videogames as long as the big titles don't get delayed such as:
SSBB
GTA4
DMC4
SC4
Battlefield BC
Army of Two
Gears of War 2(maybe)

Why isn't Lair on that list?
